Edit: Despite the invitation extended below, it is clear that they have no interest in improving their services rendered or rectifying their flaws. If you're considering OPI, please, please consider the following:There may be lots of positive reviews and that's great but there are plenty of negative ones. And that is where the issue is. Look at how much the people who had negative experiences lost. If you don't have a good outcome, which is undeniably always a possibility with things of this nature, you will likely be out well over $100,000 that you will never get back, ever, even accounting for insurance reimbursements (which are a grueling process). There are no refunds. I know things are probably desperate, but ask yourself, is it really worth it to gamble that amount of money? Especially when there is no shortage of residential programs, both in Southern California and around the country, that are all necessarily going to be cheaper and offer essentially the same thing and likely not belong to such a suspect parent company as Embark (that OPI is part of). Look Embark up and everything they're involved in thoroughly and ask yourself. Does such a company really sound trustworthy? Can you even really trust the motivations and priorities of a company that thinks such prices are fair and reasonable in the first place?Regardless of if you decide to go or not, never let yourself be pressured or manipulated into spending more time or money than you think is right. Your gut sends you messages for a reason.I'll just give the bottom line:I know OPI looks good on its website but at the end of the day I can say with confidence that it doesn't offer anything that you can't find elsewhere for cheaper. As special and unique as it says it is there is absolutely nothing about it that warrants its price tag. And the program will tend to view clients and their families and not much more than cows to milk and for all they're worth and try to squeeze as much money from them as possible and people deserve better than that. Beware: he Roanne program is an example of that and designed to squeeze even more money out of people, it being full of overpriced fluff. It is not the only place to receive BPD treatment out there so look elsewhere and you'll get more for what you're paying. Staff misbehavior is also a huge program. Despite the cost the people in charge don't seem to do a good job vetting people working with a potentially vulnerable group of young people.Previous reviewer Sarah is definitely completely correct. OPI is a failure to launch program, not a program for young people with more deep-rooted mental health issues. Meaning, it is for people with comparatively milder problems, who really need a place for healing. It is definitely not "trauma-informed". And as another point to speak to that, it is absolutely not an appropriate place for young people with autism, despite it claiming that that it is one of the conditions it excels in helping with. There is no understanding of that condition among the clinical staff and no allowance is made for the autistic person's needs which really are very distinct from those who lack it, which will make the up the majority of the client base. So I just want that to be known.

Hi David. I am sorry to hear that this was your experience. It is important to note that OPI has been under new ownership and leadership since 2016, so I am confident and hopeful that some of your concerns and experiences may no longer be applicable. If you are looking for a place to intensely work on yourself because no other mode of treatment has worked, OPI will help you. Go here if you are in need of a serious tune up and they will give you what you need to do it. The clinical staff and administrators are adept, experienced and able to help you with any challenges you may face. Please be mindful that this is not the Ritz-Carlton. You're going here to improve your life and not for 5-star living services. While the residential department provides decent safety, it can be a difficult experience, but the clinical department knows the quirks of residential and will coach you through it. If your need for a better life is intense enough, it will make the difficulties in residential worth pushing through. Shoutout to Jessica, Alisa, Kathryn N, Mariana, Lindsay H, Wilson, Spencer for being an incredible clinical team. I got what I needed from here and you can too. Keep going.

I spent eight months at OPI and I felt like I got the most out of therapy here to ameliorate my severe OCD. Very professional staff. Definitely does not have the feel of a mental institution if you're worried about that. Activities are fun and do a good job at breaking the monotony.I still have OCD but I now have the tools to help alleviate the severity of it thanks to OPI.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

I have been in OPI for over a year and I have learned and improved so much. My team was great and supportive throughout my stay. I have highly respect for them and they have respected me. If you are willing to put in the work to get better then this place is for you.Katherine and Beradin are great therapists who know what they are doing with the mental health of their clients. Dr. K is awesome and supportive throughout the psychiatric process. I love Mariam s attitude and passion! She helped me start college online for a semester. Live laugh Samra! She is a great life coach who pushed my limits for success! OPI may have its flaws but I m so grateful for the care I received.

I spent 5 months in the program and would say it was a great overall experience. The staff truly made my time here worth it. To name a few, Allie B, Crystal, Gabe, Jas, Sthefany and Nino. But there are so many more. I genuinely loved individual therapy with Allie B. And the time I shared with staff. Thank you for everything.

I came to OPI long term after completing the short term program. Originally, it was not my idea to come to long term. My mom was told about it by the short term director, Paul, and was told that I would greatly benefit from it. I was extremely hesitant to join, and I wish that I had listened to my gut. Being at long term caused me more trauma and distress than good benefits. Most of the residential staff were only there for the money. Limited help was provided by them whenever I was struggling. While it was a non substance usage facility, people were still actively using every day. If you re trying to get sober, I would NOT recommend coming here due to how easy it is to obtain any substances, and how you re easily able to get away with it.Regarding therapeutic groups, most were unorganized, and very repetitive. I only had found one group that I was able to get something out of and that was Attachment group with my therapist Beradin. Beradin was an amazing therapist and truly helped me get through the grueling process of being at long term. If I didn t have her as my therapist I probably wouldn t have gotten anything out of the program. My relationship with my family is better than ever, and I m now able to recognize my emotions quicker and how to help myself in that moment. In the end, no I would not recommend OPI longterm to anyone seeking treatment.

Parents do more homework than I did. Took us 9 months and over $200K later to see that the service OPI provides does not warrant the prices they charge. You can get the same elsewhere for half the price. Look at the experience of the clinical staff. You are not getting the best of the best. Most of the therapist have limited experience and have been there a short time. We thought we were getting top-notch care, but did not. This is a failure to launch program and is not equipped to handle young adults with mental health issues. You pay Embark, then insurance pays Embark. Good luck getting the money Embark owes you back. We can't get the Embark billing team to return our phone calls or emails. They nickle and dime you for everything and demand payment promptly, but you getting reimbursed from them is impossible. They do anything to stand in the way of you getting any money from the insurance company. I would give zero stars if I could.

I have been in treatment for a while, before coming to OPI, I spent 11 months in a pretty strict/lockdown residential in Utah. I made very little progress there, as the environment was extremely controlling and felt like a punishment rather than being helpful. Since being at OPI, I have absolutely LOVED it here, and that s an understatement. My therapist, Ali G is incredible. At OPI, you ll be given a therapist based on who they think you ll work with best- and it was spot on! She has helped me reflect on so much, and GREATLY improved my family dynamic. I have been here only 3 months, and am honestly happier here than I was outside of treatment! ALL of the therapists at OPI are wonderful, you work with many during group therapy and upon getting to know them all, I haven t had a negative interaction with anyone. My treatment team is VERY understanding, and when mistakes are made, staff will handle it with care and support. There are natural consequences, no punishments! The ILS (Independent Living Specialists) that sometimes stay in the apartment complex we live in, are all very comforting and do everything they can to attend to participants needs. I love SO MANY of them, including anne, eliza, iliana (ily), sthefany, and MANY more. The participants are very sweet, understanding, and easy to get along with. There is no judgement here, and I have never felt more safe and understood.UPDATE: I GRADUATED!!! About 8 months total at OPI and it was sad to leave the program. I am staying in CA, and while being in the program I have managed to get into and commit to Pepperdine University. My family didn t think college was a possibility for me after my substance abuse struggles. I am still completely sober and intend on being sober for the rest of my life. I know that I have a community supporting me and am moving into a community of people with values that I admire! I still keep in contact with people! I really do want to come back, never as a patient again- but as a therapist!

While OPI was the best program I attended during my treatment, it was still ineffective. Their refusal to confront my parents on their harmful behaviors made it so no lasting change could be made in my life. Despite my being of legal majority, they focused more on my parents wishes than my own meaningful growth, and even admitted it had to do with my parents paying for the treatment. The prioritization of money over healthcare by the program was a continued theme in my stay, and shouldn t be all too surprising. If it wasn t about money, they wouldn t be in the private sector. While there were fun activities abound, and I made great friends and memories, without effective healthcare, the program s price tag is too exorbitant to justify.Additionally, I am extremely displeased with the program s continued association with treatment centers and programs with corroborated reports of abuse. It makes it clear to victims of such centers, like myself, that OPI prioritizes profits over patients. This is extremely harmful, and also an enormous obstacle to effective treatment, given that the foundation of psychotherapy is a trusting relationship between patient and provider. Your program s continued association with child abusers tells the patient that their provider either doesn t believe the victims, or doesn t care about them.(Update) Upon reading the response, I would point to the fact that the programs social medias follow said abusive programs. While I m not privy to company records, I would assume, given the publicly available information, they too would reflect continued associations. If this is as unacceptable as you claim, have your actions reflect this.

BEWARE years ago these people tried to help my abuser put me into a conservatorship. I did not realize at the time that was what was happening but I have recently found more emails and texts between staff members in this institute with my abuser and it was extremely clear I was being abused and that they were motivated by financial interests to keep me under the control of my abuser. They are in it for money and not helping people. I also spoke to residents of the facility at the time who said all patients hated it there and were being mistreated by staff members. I also believe they violated HIPAA.

I've been at this program around 15 months now and am discharging at the end of september. i've been in treatment a total of 3 and a half years, and this has helped me the most of all. the staff here are all great, some more annoying then others, but all with good intent. The clinical team is amazing too. My therapist Sasha has been the glue to my success here, and truly cares about me. we have a very strong bond, and she has helped me get through many struggles here. Ive had around 7 or 8 different therapists throughout my journey and she's been the only one i've connected too 100%. All the rest of the therapists are pretty good though. the program truly listens to residents and makes an effort to accommodate each idea, this has pretty much been the only place to find the balance between participants and staff/clinical. i've never been to a place that actually listens and cared about the residents.

This is for OPI STR, this program genuinely cared about me, which is not something I've experienced very often in most of the residential programs I've gone to. If you work the program, it will provide u with a plethora of skills to add to your toolbox. Extreme well run, and very receptive to feedback. Also very individualized. All in all, A great program.
