If I could give half a star I would, to be honest. I had a D&C for a missed miscarriage and had symptoms that my doctor disclosed with my husband to be on the lookout for and to call if I had those. I began to have symptoms that we were advised about so I ended up calling asking if I needed to do anything and they basically told me to continue to have more issues in which I did so I had to call again. I explained the symptoms that I was having to the nurse, and she expressed that she was worried about my health and that I needed to go to the emergency room. As I walk into the emergency room, the security guards were literally no help. They watched my sister-in-law, and I walk around looking for the desk in which they proceeded to laugh and point to where it was at after about three minutes of being in the building. I walked up to the window and waited but she seemed like I was bothering her or interrupting her. She then gave me a clear cup to pee while I was having heavy bleeding and clots as well a clear bag to put it in and told me to hold it until I was called back, which I was embarrassed about. I was then called back by I guess the check-in nurse in which she asked me questions, did a little bit of blood pressure, my temperature, and all that and then sent me back to the waiting room with my cup of blood and clots. Once I was called back, I was given a room with somebody else and I had to continuously explain that I had a miscarriage and a D&C, which is already a sensitive subject, not given the privacy from the front, I just kind of shrugged it off and was like it must be this way for this place. The nurse that came in to draw blood and place an IV was probably the nicest person I encountered there the entire time. After her, anybody that came in to do anything never gave me an explanation, answer, or a reason as to why they were doing anything. I had multiple test run on my blood, and urine but wasn t told as to why. I never saw a doctor, I never saw a nurse practitioner, which is who they are trying to say I did see, and that who spoke to the doctor, but no one ever introduced themselves and I even overheard a nurse say that they could not get the doctor on the phone. No one introduced themselves when they came into the room. I had someone come in with the speculum, which I said no to- they stopped and said they needed to see something which I figured I d get an explanation for but they inserted to just pull blood clots out, to then place the blood clots on the bed that I was currently laying on and then walk out of the room. After 30 minutes, a nurse walks in and says that I m being discharged. Mind you, I still have NO IDEA what s going on. My sister-in-law then asks if anyone is going to come and speak to us about anything that they found or that I need to look for or that I need to be aware of. Or even just about the results that I was getting on my my chart and they came in said that everything was fine and to follow up with my OB the next day and ask for an earlier appointment. I received discharge papers and still never spoke to a nurse practitioner or a doctor about the visit. I left with more questions and concerns then I walked in for was not put at ease. No one seem to give any compassion about the experience that I had there or the emotional trauma that they were putting me through by drawing blood, putting a speculum inside me to pull out the blood clots that I thought was my child or could be a part of my child and for me to lay on them, after I received specimen results a day before about the stuff sent off during my D&C not containing a fetus.I have spoken to a manager within the ER department who seemed like she may care, but it s been a week of radio silence and I still have heard nothing from nobody. As a woman with a daughter and multiple sisters, I do not recommend this ER due to the lack of knowledge, understanding, compassion that they want to pass on to their patients. I feel very traumatized by this visit, ER, and the lack of communication during and after my visit.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Initial phases of rehab treatment often require 24-hour clinical care in Louisiana. This supervised treatment offers three main benefits. Medical staff can provide medications to treat withdrawal. Clients can also benefit from having 24-hour nursing staff available to treat any other physical symptoms. Lastly, this setting ensures that professionals are constantly available to address any emotional or mental health issues related to the addiction or co-occurring disorders.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The first step in the addiction recovery process involves flushing all addictive drugs and alcohol from your body while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, this level of care takes into account that quitting your drug of choice cold turkey can be very dangerous once you've become physically dependent. In a medical detox, your team of medical professionals helps to ensure your safety and comfort. Most people transition to an inpatient treatment or maintenance program upon completion.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

If you undergo cognitive behavioral therapy in Louisiana, you may engage in role playing, face your fears, and learn to calm your mind and body. These techniques are designed to help you recognize unhealthy patterns of thinking and to learn healthy ways of coping with challenges.

When you participate in dialectical behavior therapy, you'll work on recognizing distorted thinking patterns that are guiding your emotions. You'll learn how to change these patterns to eliminate unproductive reactions. This involves developing better coping mechanisms to handle stressful situations.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

In Louisiana, trauma therapy helps you explore the impact that a traumatic event has had on your life. You can experience emotional and physical responses if you witness or experience a traumatic event. Your therapist guides you in processing the trauma and then developing coping strategies that improve your quality of life.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

This is yet the best hospital I've been too! The staff is so patient, gentle, kind, great at communicating, they definitely will make your time here very worth coming. I recently delivered my baby here on June 5th and all doctors and nurses that I've seen and/or had made my visit the best delivery yet, despite how scared and nervous I was they made me very comfortable with them. If I ever were to have another baby this hospital is definitely my first option. I would like to think all the nurses ( Brayeah, Hailey, Nicole, Judy, and Cassie G.), and doctors ( Katherine Ayo-Rayburn, and Natasha L Goss-Voisin) for making my experience here comfortable. Thank you all and you are all very appreciated!!
