About Ocean Monmouth Care

Ocean Monmouth Care is an alcohol and drug rehab center for adults in Brick, New Jersey. As part of Pinnacle Treatment Centers, they offer different levels of outpatient treatment to help you overcome your substance use disorder. They also provide medication assisted treatment. You can visit them in person or online through their telehealth option. They’re in network with most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, and also accept self pay.

Here, you can participate in individual, family, and group counseling sessions. These sessions give you the chance to understand your addiction better, identify some of your triggers, and learn healthy ways to cope. They also offer addiction education, 12 Step program integration, and clinical evaluations. All of their treatment plans are individualized.

You can participate in intensive or general outpatient treatment depending on the level of care you require. Intensive treatment usually requires more frequent meetings for a longer period of time.

Their medication assisted treatment program helps you recover with the help of FDA approved addiction medications. At this facility, they can administer methadone and buprenorphine to ease your pain, lower your relapse risk, and curb your cravings. Any time medication is used, counseling and recovery focused education will also be part of your plan.

Something I like about this facility is that they also offer a specialty group for pregnant women who are facing addiction. Their aftercare program includes routine monitoring services as well as connections to community providers.

One past client says this program helped him keep his life on track and moving forward. Another client said the team members are always kind and caring, and there’s never a wait to be seen.

I have been going there for a long time and they have been great for the most part. The nurses are knowledgeable, patient and friendly. But I am disappointed that my feelings were not treated as they should have. Clean time also need therapy and guidance. But of you are in need of help, please give them a call.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs engage in a rigorous process of personal growth as a cornerstone of long-term recovery. They are expected to attend anonymous, peer-led 12 step meetings, which are free, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation is not required. Self-selected peer sponsors mentor participants as they work through the 12 steps, learning forgiveness, understanding, acceptance, and accountability.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New Jersey typically follows a set structure of treatment. The therapist helps clients identify their life challenges and their thoughts surrounding those challenges. The client then learns to identify unhealthy thought patterns and reshape those into healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.

Motivational interviewing helps clients find their motivation to change. It can be an effective method to work with clients who are angry or hostile or feel insecure about their ability to make changes in their lives. It is often used during addiction treatment or to manage physical health conditions.

OMC is a great place for addicts who are ready to quit using and who want to learn to live with responsibility. This is not a place for addicts who still want to use and live that life. If you still want to get high, I do not suggest coming here as it will surely end unfavorably. OMC is a wonderful clinic, it gave me the opportunity to change my way of thinking and earn my life back. It didn't happen all at once, but over time I was able to gain back most of what I lost to drugs and alcohol. With help from the nursing staff and a lot of help from my counselor, today I have over 5 years clean and able to be a man who is relied upon and trusted. I am a better son to my parents, I have strong relationships with my brothers and even with their families. I am called upon and listened to with respect today and that is something I though I'd lost. Again, nothing happened overnight and I wasn't given anything, but with help from OMC it was made possible. Everything I have today I earned through hard work and scafrice. As much as I have today, as hard as it was to get it and as much as I appropriate it, I know that I can lose it all in an instant if I decide to use drugs again. I am very thankful to OMC and the staff that help me keep my life on track and going forward. OMC saved my life and helped me reach a point where I am confident in myself and enthusiastic about my future.

Extremely dedicated nurses and an excellent doctor. With the help of the nurses and Dr. W you'll be in pretty good shape. If you're serious about getting your life together, ask for George as your counselor. Like everything in life, this is all up to you. You'll get out of this experience exactly what you put into it. Good luck.

Been going here for a very long time now. This is the best clinic in NJ. I ve read some other reviews that say things about Dr. Tutu that aren t true. Dr. Tutu is a great Dr. and he knows what he is doing. With his help, I ve gotten my life back, and I ve had it back for 6 years now. The reason people have a problem with him is because he is strict, as he should be when dealing with this type of treatment. Being strict is the ONLY way this program works-letting people slide only enables them to do poorly. Many people I ve heard complain and cuss about him in the waiting room are people who want to abuse the program to get high and/or who clearly are not clean. Dr. Tutu is actually very kind and does have a heart. Every time I ve seen him, I wave and say hi to him and he waves, says hi back, and smiles.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Thanks for the great feedback Lynne, Dr. tutu will be thrilled to hear it! Also, congrats on 6 years!!

Been going here for I believe 5 years now- there is a serious staff turnover, but that s with any type of substance abuse establishment. It s hard to find people to work in these places. I must say though the front desk is always nice, the nurses are all very sweet, helpful, and kind and all of the counselors I ve had have been great. Also there s never a wait (obviously since Covid it s less) but even before that compared to the few other clinics I ve been to this one s the best- and always clean! A+

This place has been nothing short of great. It really helps that my counselor Ande is one of my favorite people in the world.Always there for me when I needed someone. The entire staff from director ,nurses and the front desk staff led by Jen ,who is also a great asset there. When I was homeless and down and out.I was lucky to have some of the most compassionate people I've ever known to be there for me when nobody else was including family.
