Do not send your kids here, I've been horribly abused, the abuse of power is insane. These staff are trained to put kids in holds but some do it their own way and hurt them, I was put in a hold and this guy purposely hurt my arm, to the posit where it was limp, I was screaming so loud, and helpless. After I got out of the hold I couldn't move my arm, and for three months after I couldn't use it properly and the nurses did nothing and said my arm was fine. It clearly wasn't. I couldn't even shoot a basketball at gym. There was a staff that would take the kids in their rooms where there were no cameras and punch them when they were acting up. I reported it and the kids were so scared they lied about it. So nothing was done when Dcs came to investigate. These people are horrible and I can't believe this place is still standing. And for the staff reading this, you better hope I don't ever catch you in public now that I'm grown

!!PLEASE READ!! if you are considering sending a kid here, read this first. i was sent here twice the same year back in 2019. come on here tonight to check the reviews and see if maybe this place has changed for the better, only to find it's still the same. the constant fighting, riots, abuse caused by staff, and overall chaos was insane. my first night there a fight broke out. i remember at least three riots within my first month there, one in which the staff cut the lights off to stop the cameras from catching them abusing residents. that night, a few girls had been fighting over something and it turned physical. somehow a staff got hit while trying to break it up and instead of restraining the girls, another staff came and shut all our doors and locked them from the outside and all lights were turned off. after that, all we heard for the next TWO HOURS was yelling and hits being thrown. listening to our peers beg the staff to stop. absolute insanity. the staff were always looking for an excuse to fight the residents and were constantly shaming us, mind you kids age 5-17 were there at the time (5 year olds aren't even supposed to be there!!) i remember one of my peers getting arrested after a staff made a claim that she had attacked her. yet the girl that was arrested had been sneaking needles in for weeks self harming and a lot of other contraband and they never worried or intervened with that. that poor girl had been there for months and every day had new marks all over her and nothing was done. my second time here it was even worse, way more fights happening daily and police constantly being called. i was beat up by another resident for ten minutes while staff sat there and did nothing until i had my head banged into a wall numerous times. i received no medical attention whatsoever, not even an ice pack. aside from all this, the food was disgusting and mostly inedible. we were supposed to have a 15 minute meal time but most days only had 5-10 minutes to eat, some girls not even making it to the table with their food by the time we had to leave the unit. we were always over unit limit, having girls sleep in the hallways for weeks and months because they refused to send anybody home until their insurance stopped paying for the stay, which meant some girls were there for a year or two unless their parents were able to pull them out. there was mold in the showers and toilets, oh and everyone on the unit shares a big communal bathroom. only one door which leads to the bathroom, and curtains hanging in front of the showers and toilets. girls were constantly ripping these down and staff would take forever to put them back up so many times we'd be staring at everyone while doing our business. we were given 5 minutes to shower but the button would only turn the water on for 30 seconds at a time and would rarely work on the first try. there was literal human feces spread across the walls of the bathroom and vomit spewed everywhere almost daily. we were told that if we volunteered to clean the bathroom, that would earn us 4-5 "good" points on our sheet and were told it would help us go home faster. there is so much more i could go on about. this place DRAINS you, it only leaves you with more issues while there and after you leave. before this place i had never had anger so bad. please DO NOT EVER, EVER send your kids here. if you have a choice and you really care about your kid, wether biological, foster, adopt, or even if you are DCFS, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. this place needs to be shut down immediately. the amount of concerns this place as a whole raises is on another level. this is hands down the WORST facility i have ever been to, and i've been to a lot from ages 11-17. i am 18 now and still have lasting trauma from this place. i can't even feel safe sitting in a classroom if i'm too close to the door. SHUT. THIS. PLACE. DOWN!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive care without leaving their home, workplace, and community. Clients typically receive intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs promote clients' long-term sobriety through recovery-focused life skills training and ancillary services, such as peer coaching. Medication assisted treatment (MAT), including medication induction and maintenance, are common in outpatient care. Most facilities offer multiple levels of care to accommodate clients' evolving needs, including intensive outpatient (IOP) and standard outpatient programming.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Safe detox requires 24-hour clinical care in Tennessee. This is due to the health risks that are involved during withdrawal. As the brain reacts to the absence of the drug, severe symptoms can occur, depending on the type of drug used. For instance, alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal may result in seizures. Fortunately, supervised care in a clinical setting can provide the necessary treatment to avoid health risks and allow you to complete detox safely.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
The goal of a drug intervention in Tennessee is to encourage a person with a substance use disorder to enter treatment. The process also educates family members about addiction, enabling behaviors, and treatment options. The involvement of intervention services can help with this education and provide guidance for the intervention itself and follow-up care. The professional interventionist will work with the entire family to encourage the best outcomes possible from the intervention.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Recreational therapy supports addiction recovery by giving you structured activities that promote physical and mental health. These help build a supportive network of your peers that promotes sobriety. Activities can include sports, creative arts, and outdoor adventures that help you reduce cravings, manage stress, and give you an emotional outlet.

Life skills training teaches you how to cope with challenging situations in non destructive ways. This crucial piece of drug rehab in Tennessee gives you tools for decision making, relationship building, and self care.

They were very disrespectful this place did not help me. And please get ms glass fired as soon as possible. They didn't even let my mom know what was happening when I overdosed on my Lithium and almost died from it. So I would not recommend this place for your child.

There were fights all the time, girls breaking lights to harm themselves or others almost on a daily. There were girls hooking up and staff would look the other way. There was nothing about that place that helped I had to get transferred to a different program

The people working at Oak Plains should be working at prison, that would be their perfect job because of the characteristics they show. They are the worst of their kind, I don't understand how they think that people can be helped with their attitudes.

This place is very weird to say the ABSOLUTE LEAST. Please don t submit your job application, management is depressing, this place is not mentally stable for minors. The negatives tremendously outweigh the positives, MHA mental health is declining, residents are struggling more with their mental health just by being a resident here. You don t know who to trust, who s sincere. There is so much hiding, we do not have a disk golf course, volleyball, and hiking trails. Their website has false information, read through this facility s reviews before you let your loved one become a resident. Don t be afraid to ask questions and ensure that they re getting the treatment they need. Mental health matters

Only because I cannot put 0 stars I am putting 1. I visited my niece a week ago. She came out with clothes too tight for her, ripped up, and holes in them. Her hair was not even brushed, she didn t even have a brush. No deodorant, this is a 13 year old girl. They gave her a bar of soap to wash with, for her body and hair. She has ethnic hair and her skin is sensitive. She was hungry, loopy, and confused at some points. This place HAS TO BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY!!
