outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

For many different stages and therapies offered during addiction treatment, it's essential to offer 24-hour clinical care in New York. often involves medication treatment for drug or alcohol detox. The withdrawal symptoms experienced during detox can be dangerous, but having medical experts on-site around the clock means someone is always there to step in and provide emergency medical care when and if it is ever needed.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

medicare iconElectroconvulsive Therapy

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

You can participate in couples therapy to focus on a specific problem in your relationship or for general strengthening of the relationship. This therapy aims to help you improve communication, address conflict, and grow in affection for one another.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I was not treated after waiting for an hour and a half. I watched other people be checked in within 30 minutes (or less) of walking in. I was so desperate to be seen that I just went elsewhere. I

In the area, dental service is horrible.Calls are almost never answered and if you don't speak their language they hang up.One has to go make an appointment in person. We are in August and dental appointments for children are until January? How can that be possible.

DO NOT GO TO WOODHULL HOSPITAL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. I visited for a serious foot injury and it was a nightmarish experience. I had to wait half an hour to see anybody despite waiting in the ER, and then was forced to sit in a bed for over an hour waiting on the "transport team" to bring me a wheelchair to visit the X-Ray room (despite the fact that I was brought into this bed using a wheelchair). Upon my third follow up about this wheelchair, the staff told me to just walk myself or use a cane despite my injury. I refused, so they finally gave me crutches and made me walk myself to the X-Ray room that was literally across the hall the entire time (and yes, I had to open doors myself while on crutches because they wouldn't when I asked). The only reason I had to wait that long while in dire pain was because the staff was too busy gossiping and making incredibly inappropriate remarks about their patients. Then by the time I was supposed to get my discharge papers, an actual emergency situation arose with a patient injury that was incredibly traumatic. Staff refused to let me wait in another room while the patient screamed in agony for 30 minutes, and insulted me for asking someone to simply hand me my papers that were sitting on a table five feet away so I could leave. Before I left, a nurse literally asked me why the doctors were letting me leave empty handed when my foot looked entirely deformed. I had no answer. My visit to Woodhull was overly long, incredibly traumatic, and I somehow left in more pain than I was when I arrived. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you go into the Woodhull ER with a life-threatening injury, there's a non zero chance that you'd simply die in the waiting room as they take an hour to acknowledge your presence.

For being a very busy emergency room, I saw the hospital staff prioritize based on medical situations. There definitely were people there who did not need to be in the emergency room. Which doesn't help staff whatsoever. My medical situation was very low priority, and after a bit of a wait, I got stitched up from a bad motorcycle fall. Medical staff was efficient and pleasant. I felt comfortable visiting.

The ER doctors are rude, and the area is always dirty. You have patients that are mentally ill walking all around and security does nothing. The nurses and clerks are either talking, texting or uncaring. And the supervisors are worst. The city should just close the hospital and either make a school , affordable housing or a park ... Would serve the community better..

The EMERGENCY ROOM IS A DISGRACE. The staff talks so loud about personal matters, on top of that I heard a nurse say that she will not being doing IV or taking blood out because no one helps her and if no one helps her she s not helping no one. A doctor stepped in and said you have to show the young people how to do the right thing. She continued to say not to call her, call someone else. I have MyChart on my phone they took 5 hrs to come back to me with my blood results and I saw it in my phone within I could say 30/45mins. A sub nurse came and told me she s taking my blood out & give me IV because my actual nurse is on break, I told her I do not like to get my IV in the middle of my arm I would prefer it on my hand due to past experience, she took out blood left a mess on my bed of blood left my hand dirty after attempting to put the IV and never gave me the IV because she got upset at the fact that I asked for my hand. The nurse never came to check on me btw. & the doctor comes to me after a nurse asked to move my bed and I told her how did I see my results before my doctor spoke to me. It was insane complete madness chaos. The security guard held me against my will and did not let me leave the ER after I told him multiple times that I have my discharge papers but I m in a rush my cab is outside. He made a big scene made me take out my papers from my purse and proceeded to move slow on purpose. This hospital is very unprofessional it s very uncomfortable. The staff are as crazy as the mental patients. Staff super lazy super unprofessional they complain and talk about personal things they clearly don t care about the well being of others in need. I don t recommend this hospital at all. Go to NYU Langone Bellevue or a private doctor. Save the stress!
