i m so annoyed with this facility, my dad has been in the hospital for 4 days and i have not been able to receive any information. i haven t even been able to speak with him in this facility also they been doing procedures with literally nobody consent. my dad has been in many hospitals and me and my sister and my aunt are usually the ones who they inform but with this hospital i m assuming his chart hasn t been updated because the only person who they can give his information to is his divorce wife who he no longer speaks with. i feel like i m not heard at this facility and i m literally his youngest daughter who try to do everything i can for my father who has multiple health issues. At this point i don t wanna even speak to theses terrible, inconsiderate and lazy nurses. i prefer to speak to my dad( i stay hours away and the past couple months i have been back and forth to north Carolina because of my dad and i don t even drive so this situation is very aggravating)

Accepted Insurance

Novant Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My daughter took my 7 year old granddaughter to this hospital on 10/19/2024. My granddaughter had been experiencing fever, body aches, shortness of breath and bumps on her throat near her tonsils that were secreting pus. My granddaughter was only seen by a PA and not an MD. This PA decided to use her IPhone as a flashlight as opposed to a throat scope doctors use to examine patients. This PA summarized in her notes that my daughter was "complaining"of issues with my granddaughter's tonsils most of her life. She completely shrugged off and minimized my daughter's concerns and diagnosed my granddaughter with an viral infection. The only instructions was for my daughter to give my granddaughter Tylenol and Motrin and was sent home. My granddaughter remained with fever, chills and body aches despite taking Tylenol and Motrin. My daughter immediately made an appointment with my granddaughter's pediatrician and went today 10/23/2024. The pediatrician diagnosed my granddaughter with walking pneumonia. My granddaughter now has an prescription for antibiotics and a referral to an ENT. Be very careful going to this hospital for care. What makes it even worse is an MD signed of on the PA's diagnosis without even seeing my granddaughter. Thank God my daughter had enough sense not to be so accepting of an obvious bad diagnosis by a unqualified PA no less and one that could have potentially and severely sickened my granddaughter or worse.

Do not go to this hospital if you actually need any form of help with health they ll probably kill you or just give you no treatment. In April 2024 I went into the hospital with my parents (I am just a teenager so I needed parental assistance), with a severe concussion. I had Expressive aphasia and Receptive aphasia, a form of brain damage. Everything around me was confusing, i couldn t verbally respond to the people around me i mostly was stuttering, and i couldn t register absolutely anything happening on around me. When I got there, I waited in the waiting room for a few hours before they took me back to see what was going on. No one knew until weeks later that I had a full blown concussion because all they did was took my blood. No brain scans- MRIs, Neuropsychological Testing, CT scanning, & Neurodiagnostic Testing. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety in the past, so there was a mental patient screaming which the concussion affected my anxiety (studies shown that it affects it or causes it) and I the nurses refused to put me in a room or place me anywhere away from another dangerous patient and said very rude things to me. Later on they finally put me in a little room where they asked me medical questions. Since I had a severe concussion I was not able to answer them due to the lack of ability of brain function. Since they had no beds and didn t feel the need to treat me for anything, I was thrown into a wheelchair, and thrown into the mental hospital! The nurse said there was no bed for me anyway, and later on we learned that she lied and wrote down I had suicidal thoughts , which was illegal for her to do since I never said that, and they would have had to ask me other questions if I had said so, and now my family is having to take legal action against this hospital and the nurse that caused all of this. I never got any form of treatment for my concussion and was left in the mental hospital for 5 days. Now let me tell you what the mental hospital was like! I was on my period but I was not aloud to have any female products or even underwear so I had to bleed everywhere, I wasn t aloud to brush my teeth, shower, and didn t eat for 5 days straight,(which they gave me food but small amounts but I never ended up eating and they would just take it back after 20 minutes of me not eating it so they didn t quite care if I was getting any form of nutrients) I never got to brush my hair, which my hair is quite long and gets tangled. All of the nurses were so mean, they would say rude horrible things, and just open the curtain to see if you were just breathing and just simply walk away. The hospital tried to keep me there for finical gaining too when there was no absolute reason for me to even be a mental patient, i literally just had a concussion. Right before the hospital I left I looked at my mom and smiled happy to go home, the nurse CRYSTAL, held a paper between me and my moms faces so i couldn t look at her anymore and said to me You need to grow up and cope with life and that your mother is going to die and you will be all alone so you might as well stay here, now how are you going to cope in life? ANSWER ME ANSWER ME! Right in front of my mother, to this day I will never forget what the nurse said to me. Why do you have her hired? Especially have her working with mental patients? Basically me and my family are taking legal action against this medical hospital. They never treated me for my concussion which I could have ended up with even worse neurological problems. This review is me speaking out on how they treated me at this hospital. It will only let me give one star review, but if I could I d give it 0. Honestly go to Atrium, not Novant. I will not stop speaking up. Honestly you guys suck harder than Elton John.Update: You guys screwed the insurance billing, I m under my moms, I don t have my own. You put it under my name and even spelt my name wrong, another mess to fix. Also heading home from work, saw you guys leave wheelchair patient out at the bus stop and left her waving for help. Nice going.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I wasn't involved or informed in any choices of my health care, and by the time anyone had told me anything, I was already IVC'd. The staff are more held up by their phones versus your actual care, their empathy is beyond lacking. I was understandably having a break down after being told I couldn't legally leave, and was told by a nurse if I could keep it quiet, as others were trying to sleep. If you have any mental health issues, do not choose Novant.

Critical Review of Novant Health Charlotte OutpatientI underwent retina surgery at Novant Health Charlotte NC Outpatient on April 10, 2024, and while I have no complaints regarding the medical care I received from my doctor and the nursing staff, my experience with the billing department has been extremely frustrating.I paid a co-pay of $919.00 on the day of the surgery, only for my insurance provider, Humana, to pay the entire bill on April 29, 2024. Novant Health has acknowledged that I am owed a refund of over $800 due to this overpayment. However, as of October 15, 2024, I am still waiting for this refund.Despite my consistent efforts to resolve this issue calling every two weeks, faxing the necessary receipts from Humana, and emailing proof of payment I have seen zero progress. I even participated in a conference call with both Humana and Novant Health, yet the refund remains "in processing." It is disheartening that a healthcare provider can process a payment in less than six minutes but takes over six months to return funds owed to a senior patient living on a fixed income. This experience serves as a warning to others: while the medical care may be satisfactory, be prepared for potential headaches with the billing department. Timeliness and customer service in this area need significant improvement. I hope Novant Health addresses these issues to ensure that future patients do not face the same challenges I have encountered. Here's hoping for a Christmas Refund Miracle!

My mother arrived to the ER by ambulance Saturday night. It s 27 hours later she is still in the ER and has not seen a doctor to discuss test results and diagnosis. She has had over a dozen nurses within the 27 hour period so far. This hospital is ratchet, stinks and does not provide adequate healthcare. My mother has damn good insurance not sure what the problem is. Don t go here!!!

I've been coming here for years and, without a doubt, the best medical service around . First the people are so helpful and friendly by far better than the competition. You can tell they really want to help you . 2nd, they really listen to what you say and ask open-ended questions to get as much information as possible. 3th thing , they explained in easy terms that the non professional can understand and want you to ask questions to fully understand in steps what going on . Then will give you your options. My nearly die at a competition where the so called Dr. Did not listen to my wife's problems and told her to come back in 3 months. She would died less than 2 mo. She was in the ICU IN 1 WEEK !!! Thank you Novant and the great job you do !!
