About Northwest Indian Treatment Center

Situated in Elma, Washington, Northwest Indian Treatment Center – NWITC is a drug and alcohol rehab for Indigenous and Native American adults with substance use disorders. They also provide valuable community resources, including referrals, social services, and community care.

Addiction-related services at Northwest Indian Treatment Center – NWITC include mental health assessments, counseling, detox, residential addiction treatment, and outpatient programs.

Mental Health Assessment & Counseling
Clinicians use mental health assessments to evaluate the severity of the participant’s substance use disorder and to create an individualized treatment plan. Treatment may include individual counseling to discuss the treatment process, set recovery goals, and talk through any post-treatment recommendations.

Inpatient Detox
Detox is for individuals with acute substance use disorder that may experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking or taking drugs. Detox safely and comfortably alleviates withdrawal symptoms until the body has detoxed from substances.

Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Inpatient addiction treatment programs rely on a combination of evidence-based and culturally relevant practices to treat substance use disorders. Treatment begins with an assessment and customized treatment plan. NWITC treatment programs include cultural activities and traditional ceremonies to provide holistic healing, such as sweat lodge, Shaker Services, counseling, and peer groups.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Designed for adults who need addiction treatment but don’t require 24-hour care. Participants attend individual and group treatment sessions for improved coping skills, peer support, and recovery support meetings. Like the inpatient program, NWITC outpatient treatment also involves culturally relevant treatment activities. Sessions are typically held 3-4 days a week.

you know the point of making mistakes and going to treatment is because people are usually sick. the point of inpatient is to help guide and correct those actions and mistakes there so you can help that person grow.NOT KICK them out especially when that person was really trying. what happend to FAMILY and our Culture.

Great place, but sadly it wasn't a place for me. A big Thank You to Billie for the kindness and support you showed while I was there, as you made all the difference in me getting and now staying clean. I am now off the streets and in an apartment which I could never have accomplished while using, so everyday is a testament of the care and support you showed to me. I keep you and the staff in my prayers. Philmayaye lo. > Thank you.Praise God! > < !

Accepted Insurance

Northwest Indian Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is often the first step in addiction recovery and involves ridding the body of drugs and/or alcohol in a supervised inpatient setting. If you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, quitting abruptly may cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will help manage any potential withdrawal symptoms with the aim of keeping you as safe and comfortable as possible.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

One goal of family therapy is to provide a platform where members have a safe place to talk about the challenges that addiction has created in their lives. Using guided sessions, therapists help individual family members develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues between themselves to support their loved one's sobriety.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

The advantage of nicotine replacement therapy in Washington is the absence of the many harmful chemicals that are present in cigarette smoke. These products supply the nicotine only, so you don't suffer from extreme withdrawal and can feel more comfortable as you quit smoking.

I have sent many clients to this facility both native and non native. They all have talked about their journey at the facility as eye opening and being a great place to start their recovery at.

I had the great privilege of sitting in a sweat lodge about 7 years ago and it was a transformative stepping stone in my life. The opportunity came at a time of great transformation in my life and helped me find direction when I needed it.I will forever be grateful for the help that was given when I needed it most.

This place started out wonderful and great but the staff started changing up and making up lies which had my councilor talk with me and he (Brock) toldtold me i was lying and I told him I felt like I was one of the few patients getting targeted. So he sent me home just a little over a week away from my graduation!!!! A few staff there are so awful because they bring problems from their outside life and power trip on patients. I was sent home because I respectfully let brick know how I felt. I do have love and respect for Ms June thoe and a couple others but for the most part, I dnnt recommend this treatment for someone who doesn't like being treated poorly and with disrespect. Many of them like to twist things up and make yu feel like yu are doing something wrongwrong.
