About Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare System

The Kingsford Office of Northpointe Behavioral Health is one of three locations in Michigan. This clinic offers mental health and substance use treatment for adults, children and families. They also treat those with co-occurring disorders.

Here, nobody is denied treatment if they can’t pay. A discounted fee schedule is available based on family size and income.

The first step to begin treatment is having an initial assessment. Then, staff will work to create a treatment plan that looks at you as a whole. This plan will take note of your strengths, goals, needs and desires. Treatment may involve individual and group therapy, perhaps with family involvement.

I like that Northpointe offers peer support specialists. These certified and trained specialists are folks who have been where you are. They have experienced mental health or substance abuse disorders and are in recovery. They become your partner in your recovery and help you set goals and overcome barriers. There’s so much they can help you with such as finding housing, applying for benefits and finding work.

Many happy previous clients sing the praises of the caring staff and how effective the program is. Others do not agree and feel that staff were incompetent.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients receiving care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) typically have completed inpatient treatment, but some choose to enroll in IOP immediately following detox. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level support for clients in early recovery and those at an increased risk of relapse. Most programs provide between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week, with services ranging from addiction counseling to recovery education to medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as acupuncture, are common.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

During a drug intervention in Michigan, family, friends, and colleagues share in their own words how a person's substance abuse has affected their lives. An intervention must be carefully planned, with the goal of encouraging the individual to get treatment for their addiction. Many rehab programs offer intervention services to help families prepare for this confrontation and guide them through the recovery process.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Michigan is essential for certain phases of recovery treatment. During detox, many physical ailments related to the detox process can be lethal if not treated. Having medical staff available at all times provides the proper care for safe detox. Medications and other treatment can also make the process much more comfortable and bearable.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

To maintain a healthy and productive life, you need certain life skills. They help you make good decisions and build good relationships. Because they are key to long term recovery, most rehab programs in Michigan include integrated life skills training.

Working with Northpointe over these last few years has been such a great experience. I see all aspects of organization working to improve lives of those in our community for their mental and behavioral health. My team is a work family and the worklife balance is exceptional. There s always improvements to be had in any organization and there have been many new successes in the last couple of years that I ve seen.

As an employee I see other staff that are truly invested in their clients lives and working to make lives better. Lots of 10+ year employees tells me that I made the right choice to come and work for Northpointe. The organization is larger than I realized and supports people all over the Iron, Menominee, and Dickinson Country region.

If you need mental health care, DO NOT GO HERE. Youll be honest about your condition and not taken seriously, neglected to the point you ll wind up committing yourself bc you care more about your wellbeing than they do. They make you give 24hrs notice, but will cancel your appointment w FOUR HOURS notice or less full well knowing you NEED to be seen and then they don t even reschedule you (and that happened on my FIRST appointment w my therapist!). How tf are you gonna be in mental health and treat people this way?!?!!!

Every single person in their staff is completely useless, assistant manager and 90% of the crew their are selfish and don't care about what happens in your life. If you consider employment here I would look elsewhere as the people you would work with run you through the mud, call in 4 times a week and make you do all the work while they sit around and look nice. What a joke......
