About Northeastern Center – Outpatient

Northeastern Center – Outpatient is an Auburn, Indiana, counseling center. Their team of addiction specialists provides intensive outpatient care for adults, adolescents, and children. You can accomplish your recovery goals with personalized care for substance use and co occurring disorders.

They begin treatment with an assessment to determine your needs and ensure outpatient care is a good fit. You’ll then have access to various therapeutic interventions to help you understand and change the behaviors contributing to your addiction. Their programs offer case management, continuous assessment, therapy, self help groups, stress and anger management, and drug screenings.

One thing that stands out to me is they prioritize pregnant women, mothers, and people who inject drugs. They acknowledge that providing care for these populations is crucial. Addiction affects everyone differently, but these populations can often be at higher risk of its detrimental effects.

I also love how accessible they make treatment. They offer evening transportation services to help you stay on track with attending treatment. Finances can also be a burden that deters many from seeking potentially life changing care. They provide price transparency, financial assistance, and sliding fee scales to ensure you get the services you need.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

When you receive 24-hour clinical care in Indiana, you'll be under constant supervision from highly trained medical staff. Nurses, doctors, and addiction specialists provide medications and other treatment to address withdrawal symptoms and any additional medical needs. Common medications that are prescribed include valium and Librium to relieve alcohol withdrawal, and anti-depressants to relieve cocaine withdrawal. For opioid abuse, doctors may prescribe methadone or naltrexone to manage cravings and clonidine to treat high blood pressure.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing aims to stimulate the client's personal motivation and commitment to change. Rather than receive advice and warnings from the therapist, the client is given the opportunity to share their concerns and reach their own conclusions.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

NEC staff really care about people and want to help. I really liked my therapist and case facilitator. The medical staff were great at finding the right medications for me.

Their goal is to get your money while keeping you in therapy as long as they can and that creates a vicious cycle. At least if they were good at it I wouldn't feel so upset, but they aren't good! I cracked open my trauma with them and then they did not tell me how to deal wi ... Read More

We need to organize to get money into this place or get it completely takwn out. My wife is forced to stay there with the staff treating it like a jail contact with family is highly discouraged even though studies show otherwise. Her 72 hours were legally up yesterday but they have yet to produce any paperwork. I can call her for 10 minutes and she can call me for 10 minutes. There is a woman named Debra that has an issue with anyone that sees her as a nurse and not a co because she has belittled and degraded both my wife and I. She is delusional. She said that my wife won't get treatment if we're hanging out on the phone all day but the thing is that it has been stated that never has been a moment she was actually able to use the reck equipment or do anything healthy.so she is FORCED to have to lay in her bed. Until she can do a class or see a Dr. I don't know know but this girl is scared and she is a fresh mother. They are traumatizing her in the name of mental health. Outpatient after the full time would work perfect but the nurses know nothing about the benefits of reality not just sitting on meds starting at a wall. If you have family or you have experienced it please get a hold of me and we can dismantle this place. It is a strong relic of the early 1900s psychwards. I have talked to a couple good nurses they seem to have no need to understand their client's. This is a mother with postpartum depression of a 2 month old. She had a little anger not even violent and made a few statements that should be taken care of.
