Last week I was not physically feeling well. I was not feeling like myself as a result. Additionally, I am sure that my state of mind, etc. was not as it should have been. A friend was concerned about me. This friend called for a wellness check. Two counselors showed up at my door. One informed me that a complaint had been filed against me and that they were here to check on me. The words in quotations are exact. While it is nice to know that my friend cared about me, and my well being, the counselors remarks when they were here left me feeling horrible. Had it been a true life or death situation, I would have told these counselors the same thing that I told them when it happened - I was okay . Sadly, I would not have accepted any help from northeast counseling. I probably would rather have accepted the possibility of dying rather than being seen as a complaint . The fact that a wellness check might be a lifeline for someone is possible. Counselors should be trained to be aware of the words that they are using. I found out later that there is no such thing as a complaint being filed against anyone. A wellness check should be termed as a wellness check not a complaint . Extremely bad choice of words by northeast counselors. The next day, a supervisor called me to ask me how I felt about the incident last night . These again are the exact words in quotations. This too was a poor choice of words in my opinion. I am giving only my opinion and feelings about this event. It does not inspire any confidence in the caring, compassion, respect or concern for my welfare by northeast counseling. I will NOT ever recommend them to anyone or ever use their services . Should anyone call them for a wellness check, I would highly recommend caution on behalf of the caller. Such a call may be someone s lifeline.

BEWARE. If you are looking for help this is not the place. I understand there are a few good reviews but don t be fooled. There are other professional and very beautiful places other than this business. They are supposed to help and they do not help they make matters worse and cause trouble without knowing any of the background. They turned away a minor who was asking for help and decided to inflict more pain and unnecessary stress and trouble by calling CPS. After we talked to CPS they are now here to help us unlike NORTHEAST COUNSELING SERVICES NANTICOKE,PA. I will leave this at that and now say there will be consequences for their actions. Please do not use their services in hopes of them vacating the property and a more professional service steps in. Thank you

HIPPA VIOLATIONS. My mother and I were not speaking for a year. We sense reconciled and she told me she contacted the guy who runs the place Chaz and he gave her my new address, phone number and treatment information. I walked out and he was on my motorcycle writing the vin number down, on the same piece of paper was my license plate number. When I confronted him I was told I m a biker psycho with anger issues, he runs a whole clinic, who will people believe? I left town for a few months, I attempted to go back so I can get my meds, he told me it s in my best interest to go to the Wilkes barre clinic. Gave me the ladies number. I ve been calling for 5 days, NO ANSWER. Now I m out of medication and it s obvious they do not care.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

dollar-outline iconFinancing available

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Contacted them multiple times at the recommendation of my primary doctor via email, voicemail, and the contact form on their website. Never got a single response. They're utterly useless.

Nightmare. I was with them receiving the same treatment for 2+ yrs. Then they pulled the rug out from under my feet. I have tried everything they told me to. Now I'm suffering because of them, no hope in sight. Thank you so much for making me worse not better.

Crisis worker, Terry, approached my daughter and I while on a 201 in Geisinger South s ER. I wish I could say this man was helpful, however after 8 days of Northeast Counseling doing a bed search for in-patient therapy and failing, he tried to urge a discharge without any treatment. When I expressed my disagreement in this decision, he became irate and began verbally berating me in front of my child, further exacerbating her condition. He informed me he would call Children and Youth to report child abandonment while I was present! When I refused to discharge, he threatened to call the police.

I've been going here awhile and as soon as I miss one appointment they denied my appeal and said I couldn't come there anymore. They know I have no transportation to go anywhere else but nanticoke and I told them I really need to continue counseling here its been helping but they still said no... Counseling centers are suppose to help with anxiety and a lot of other stuff not add more stress to your life. The supervisor chaz is rude also especially when talking to certain people with certain background history
