Eh..on one hand I owe them for helping me when I was in a very bad situation so I have to say that much. On the other I have never had an organization refuse to listen to my feedback like Mohawk Opportunities. The staff at lower levels are grouchy and talk down to you, it's very demoralizing and triggers the very issues they claim to be helping me with. I guess what I'm saying is the staff needs sensitivity training, particularly for someone claiming to work in the mental health field. I'm high functioning so if I'm getting treated like this I fear for the other clients.So sometimes I feel patronized, I get the feeling they aren't familiar with clients with cptsd. However, I am eternally grateful to these folks for aiding me & giving me a beautiful 1st apartment. Thank you everyone at Mohawk & because of that you get 4 stars despite my concerns.Edit: adding a star as they've grown on me & I do appreciate their help.

I was in hagamire. In 2009. Was a H.T.P. Cottage. For hard to place. Basically if you got in a fight or something like I did first 2 weeks of being there. that's where you were going. I wish they had plans for the kids that left there. And programs that would help keep them outta trouble when they get out. 2 of the kids from my house, Chris Jordan, from Long Island NY, and Shaka Jones, from Harlem, were both shot and killed. just a few years after finally coming home. SMH. And I spoke on the phone with Shaka just a month or 2 before he was murdered. He was asking about how it was up my way where I lived. Like he was thinking about moving up here. And continuing his music career. I told him GTFO of the city and come up here. But he unfortunately didn't. Wish he would of. Maybe things could of been different for both of us. He's dead, and I'm going to jail again for maybe the 12th or 13th time at 31 years old. Tomorrow.

This place saved my life .. I don t even know where to start. They welcomed me in with open arms in a judgement free zone, made sure I had everything I needed for food, hygiene, meds, and general support. EVERY SINGLE STAFF member was caring and attentive to my needs from check in to check out. Besides having a wonderful family, friends and a few staff at Soldier On to help (really above and beyond) me in my recovery (still have a little more to do)The staff at Hillcrest Commons are just the most caring group of people.
