About New Mexico Solutions

New Mexico Solutions offers outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment for individuals in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The counselors here are licensed to provide drug and alcohol counseling, individual therapy and group therapy. These services are available to help both adults and adolescents. Additional services at this facility include the transitions group and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Their services are evidence-based, trauma-informed and individualized to each client’s needs. They do not deny services to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Individuals who do not have access to Medicaid or private insurance can pay a sliding scale fee based on their income level and family size.

The transition group is designed to help individuals who are unsure whether their substance use rises to the level of needing extensive treatment and recovery. When clients become convinced they need help then they can start to receive intensive outpatient care.

The minimum amount of time group meetings will occur is three days a week for three hours a day. Clients attend these meetings for up to six weeks during the course of their treatment. The group meetings discuss concepts related to addiction including the disease of alcoholism and how to recover.

The facility believes an important service of the program that clients should participate in is family counseling. This form of counseling can help families support their loved one more in their addiction recovery and heal any damage that’s happened to the relationship. The staff will conduct regular alcohol and drug testing to make sure patients are maintaining their sobriety. The aftercare program will provide clients with additional group and therapy sessions to help them be successful in their recovery journey.

They denied services to my child because I cannot obtain a notarized piece of paper stating that my child's father is no longer in their lives legally no person can go and have a notary state that another person is not or is not responsible for the child their father abandoned them and I have been a mother that stepped up and taking care of my children so to be denied mental health services for my child because their policy is more driven towards making sure they get payments rather than assuring the mental health of the client

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Their IOP is offered to meet the needs of individuals with more severe substance abuse or chemical dependency needs. The IOP group meets a minimum of three hours a day, three days a week for up to six weeks. Core concepts of the disease of alcoholism, addiction and recovery are presented in a multimedia format. Counseling for the family of the client is a critical part of the program; aftercare services to assist in the client’s transition are also offered. IOP services are available for adults dealing with significant substance use problems.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). New Mexico Solutions offers and supports a number of aftercare options for clients.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Each drug rehab in New Mexico offers unique amenities and treatment methods. Common aspects of treatment include group and individual counseling, recreational therapy, medication management, and healthy living. Aftercare is often provided to prevent relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a structured way of helping those with major mental illnesses and/or substance abuse by bringing services directly to the patient in home. Instead of hospitalization or an outpatient program, staff members like social workers, psychiatrists, and counselors come directly to the patient’s house for treatment. ACT is used primarily for those with severe and persistent mental illness like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, some of whom also contend with substance abuse. ACT can be short- or long-term (months to years), and provides the same multidisciplinary, 24/7 staffing of a psychiatric unit, but in the comfort of the patient's own home and/or community.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They don't return phone calls. The scheduler is unreliable at scheduling appointments, or phone calls.

They never answer. After a single minute of holding, they transfer back to the menu.

I guess it's common practice for their intake therapists to remove existing diagnosis' from your records- physical as well as mental- and then adjust 'care' based on the diagnosis their intake therapists give them. There is no recourse, and they'll tell you to get therapy when you ask for it.Update: despite telling APS otherwise, they've neither handled it nor taken responsibility. Unsurprisingly, they have chosen to drop me as a client instead.

I went here for over a year...they claimed I needed a higher level of care and then cut me off from all of their services effective in a weeks time despite needing a higher level of care. I went to the Coors and ouray office. This occurred in 2019. I was fully compliant in all aspects of my program, too. The only reason I gave stars is because they provided me the applications and means to apply for housing. They have a high staff turnover, which isn't fun for anyone. If you're serious about your mental health needs don't choose new mexico solutions.

Some of the worst services I have ever received they constantly drop the ball on everything they do and when you try and fix it they blame you for it. They all have this fake nice condescending attitude and everytime you try and help them they just pretend to listen and just choose not to to do anything you say. There not helpful don't get services from them.

I have previously received treatment from this location. I attempted to call them to restart my daughter and I s therapy. I called the operator five times. 3 times I was hung up on while on hold to check availability. The other two times I was just ignored and sent in a loop of my call not being answered and back to the main menu. This is definitely putting me off in starting care again with this company. The receptionist seems to have an additude when I communicate I've been hung up on. Not good customer service at all.

I note general non-responsiveness from this "mental health" organization. A pretty waiting room only gets you so far.Their voicemail greeting is not congruent with present reality. The spoken words from the "therapist" I met with in person was also not congruent with reality, as there has been zero follow up after one month, my follow up phone calls, and my follow up emails. She looked like a deer in headlights throughout our interview, and consistently misunderstood every single thing I said (e.g., consistently misinterpreted issues while absolving strangers she has never met, e.g., she consistently demonstrated auditory processing difficulties with verbal information).I am apparently too traumatized for this organization. Therefore, they either need to hire therapists who are actually educated and skilled enough to deal with real traumas -- or perhaps, seek another line of income, as money rather than service seems to be the function here. This organization has been very triggering for me, and I do not recommend them. It's a pity, as there are very few choices for mental health support in New Mexico. It was my understanding that improving mental health services was a priority for this state. Two feeble stars due to a pretty waiting room, and at least I had two weeks of wishful thinking that I might receive some much needed support. (unfortunately more than I've gotten from other NM sources)Should probably be ONE STAR due to the complete lack of follow through.TO THE BUSINESS: Understand that failed expectations is a huge deal for clients with pre-existing mental health issues.TO POTENTIAL CLIENTS: Understand that if this agency is receiving state funding, that they probably have not met their side of the deal.
