To all mental health professionals, medical practitioners, and support group members I interacted with during my tenure at Innerspace Counseling:Please accept my deepest gratitude as I try to attempt to find a brief and impactful way to explain the lasting impact you have all had on my life. (Hold on because we all know it is not going to brief).In a very shortened version of what brought me to Innerspace I struggled severely with a lengthly fight with the battle of insecurities of myself. That caused me to fall into an extremely deep, scary, life altering depression. With the depression, anxiety decided to come for the ride. Which unfortunately brought a lot of moments back to life that I never realized were reasons I was in need of a strong, open-minded, caring, patient, understanding treatment team to help me get my life back on track. On top of figuring out how to not be scared to be a 29 year old, who identifies as non-binary.My story with Innerspace begins at the age of 18 in 2014.. where not only was it my first experience with learning about how important mentally being ok is key to living a healthy, balanced life. It also was scary because that s the age, where we are expected to have everything figured out. At least, that s what I thought. Until I was introduced to every single person that either has worked for Innerspace, continues to work for Innerspace, and the strongest group of people I had the pleasure to attend the Partial and IOP programs alongside with.To say I was scared is an understatement. I didn t know how to life right and I still don t. None of us do. That s apart of being human. That s something I would have never been able to have realized without all of your support.I always wanted to be the person to crack the code of what normal is. It drove me insane the fact I couldn t figure out how to manage my life. How to ask for help. How to say I wasn t ok.The most important lesson I took and will take with my forever from Innerspace Counseling is, there is no normal . We re all unique in our own way.For years, I barracked my struggles inside of my head, which caused me to have a very difficult time managing my emotions. I thought no one understood me. I thought enough. I thought I was burden. I thought I didn t deserve happiness. I thought I didn t deserve to have the privilege of having a chance to experience the positive side of life.With the help of each and every single one of you all the way from the start of my journey through this weird, chaotic, life of mine I would like to take this time to tell you, that you all are a major reason I m still here today.It is with great pleasure that I want to share with you, that today August 24, 2024 I woke up, looked in the mirror and saw me for the first time in a long time. Not only that, but I looked at myself and saw a smile I forgot existed and confidently and proudly can say, told myself how proud of myself I am of myself.Heather, Dr. Kochhar, Courtney, Ajita, Jodi, Taylor, Gabby, Lauren, Dr. Vyas, Lola, Dr. Platt, Grace, Kristen, Anthony, Francesca from the absolute bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me learn coping skills to be where I am at this very moment.To Dani:In a very short thank you You will never understand what you have done for me.
