About New Directions Treatment – Lehigh Valley

New Directions Treatment provides substance abuse and mental health care in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. They have outpatient services available to offer more flexibility for those who want to live at home and continue working or attending school. Bilingual treatment is also available.

Your recovery starts with a thorough assessment to help the team determine your unique needs.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available to help lessen withdrawal symptoms and reduce drug cravings. They use FDA-approved medicines like methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone to balance brain chemistry and make guests more comfortable during treatment.

Individual counseling provides a confidential setting where you can share issues that may hinder your recovery. You may uncover the root causes of your addiction and work on developing healthier coping methods, recognizing substance use triggers, and learning relapse prevention strategies for future use.

Group therapy offers opportunities with others in recovery who may share similar backgrounds and experiences with addiction. They can understand the unique challenges you may face and be a support network encouraging your progress throughout the program.

Family counseling is available to help loved ones understand more about the disease of addiction. It can help mend broken relationships affected by substance use and help families communicate and set healthy boundaries conducive to a life of sobriety.

Discharge planning helps you have a customized path after treatment. This service may include aftercare for continued recovery support and ongoing counseling, 12-step meetings, and additional support groups.

Their referral services can provide connections to higher-intensity care or outside agencies when needed for more recovery assistance.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Pennsylvania can be helpful to individuals who are experiencing substance use disorder and various mental health conditions. It helps you identify damaging thought and behavior patterns and replace them with healthy ones.

Couples therapy in Pennsylvania is typically short term treatment that focuses on building skills that lead to positive long term relationship changes. Sessions with the therapist may occur both jointly and individually.

Family therapy teaches individual family members in Pennsylvania the benefits of collectively combating addiction. Therapists help individual members establish healthy boundaries between themselves and their loved one who is struggling with addiction. This helps improve emotional support systems and creates a bond so families work together to sustain long term recovery.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Personalized therapy sessions in Pennsylvania typically include a safe and nonjudgmental setting in which you can express your deepest emotions and feelings and explore the factors that have contributed to addiction. Therapists tailor the sessions to help you develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors, which improve your self control and build a foundation for your long term sobriety.

Motivational interviewing in Pennsylvania gives you the opportunity to share your perspective and explore your ideas and motivation for change. Your therapist will walk you through the four steps of engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning to empower you to make any desired changes in your life.

They just recently started a masking policy again. Last time I checked they declared the pandemic was over. Wearing a mask should be a choice. Obviously they're not following the science here and looking at who is most affected by Corona. We hear nothing about the flu which is 5 times worse this year then coronavirus. They're not doing this for covid, as with other places they are doing this for CONTROL. The CDC isn't even saying places should have a mandate but rather a recommendation which the last time I checked would be a choice to the individual. They have new people or person in charge here and obviously they want to flex their power that they THINK they have over others. One thing is for sure, they cannot refuse to give you your medication because you choose not to wear a mask. This needs to stop. People want to hang on to that control they think they have over others and some people like myself won't let that happen. Someone is obviously politically motivated by this. They think they have this authority over others and in reality they do not

It has helped me a lot but every time I think I'm getting ahead they make a new rule. I worked to get my take homes and they take them away for any reason they make up. I didn't fail a drug test in over a year, right before I was supposed to get the max amount of bottles they said I failed. Now I've earned 5 back and haven't failed since that 1 test. They don't treat you like a person they don't care about your life outside the clinic.

Liqued handcuffs. You'll end up a lifer. Methadone is the hardest drug to get off of. Just go to rehab. Otherwise they make you come in Christmas ect. And especially won't care of there is a snow storm. U won't get any take outs. Unless 100% clean. Not even prescriptions are allowed. Personally I feel they get off on others suffering.

I have to say it was there for me when I was ready to change my life.. Saying that, I earned my take homes and for a drug I never took, my take homes where taken from me. I have a toddler whom I have no babysitter for, knowing that I would have to take my child out in the cold everyday on the bus is 'one' of the reasons I don't chance it.They don't put no mind to the results they get back!It takes 6 weeks to get 1 take home but they take them in a second. They Do Not think about the patients!Update: 10/22/20 Yesterday I was told I was going to be going down in 14 days to IDK what mg. I thought he said 50 me being on 70 but he said we didn't take you down today you're still on 65. I told him I was in 70, he said oh right, sorry. If I was going down to 50 from 70 in 14 days why 5 mg in one day. All bc I have permission from the doctor of the clinic and a letter (I took to my other doctor for the medication) to say I can take my medication. I had 6 take homes at the time, and not ever was it mentioned to me, bc their reason/excuse is, as long as it doesn't show up in my urine, now that is crazy to me. Any certain amount of mg of a medication you take everyday it's going to show up in your urine. So my take homes were taken without any discussion or warning just as tapering me down to who knows what mg in 14 days bc the medication I have permission to take was in my urine.IF ANYONE KNOWS WHO I CAN CONTACT ABOUT THIS SITUATION.. FIND ME ON FACEBOOK MESSENGER.They could be messing around with someone's life/sobriety.Thank you.
