About New Creation Counseling Center

New Creation Counseling Center is an outpatient counseling center in Tipp City, Ohio. They’re a Christian based facility founded by Ginghamsburg Church, and they help adults with a wide variety of issues and challenges that can include drug and alcohol addiction.

Your counseling services here will be individualized to you and the issues that you’re struggling with. Substance use disorder is complex, and it’s often affected by things like mental health conditions and life circumstances. The counselors here can help you to not only navigate your addiction recovery but also to address those issues that impact it. They can also provide psychiatric medication when it’s necessary.

One thing that stood out to me about this counseling center is their emphasis on accessibility and trying to make mental health care available to as many people as possible. They strive for affordability and don’t turn away anyone for an inability to pay. They accept most Medicaid plans and private insurance plans but for self pay clients they have a sliding fee scale so you’ll only pay what you can afford.

There’s a wide array of programs for you and your family. Speciality services can help kids and teens process emotions and trauma that can come from being impacted by substance abuse. They also have telehealth counseling available to make their services accessible if you don’t have transportation or child care.

While they are Christian and clients say that religion does play a significant part in their counseling, they note that they serve clients of all faith orientations and backgrounds.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is traditional outpatient counseling, so it’s not an intensive program. This type of addiction therapy is typically for people who are already fairly stable in their recovery and not in the early stages of sobriety or at a high risk for relapse.

Based on clients’ feedback, this counseling center seems to really depend on which counselor you’re paired with. Some say that their counselors are helpful and uplifting while others say that they didn’t feel like their counselor really listened to them so it could take some time to find the right fit.

I have worked with two separate counselors through New Creation for different reasons and they have both been great. I have always felt listened to and understood. They both have had a surplus of tools and resources for me to use outside of our sessions as well. With all of that said, I've had a rough experience with their front office. For example, at the beginning of last year, I provided them with my new insurance to see what my benefits would be and if it would be cheaper for me to use my insurance or go 'self pay.' My insurance ended up being billed, even though I was clear that I was only providing my insurance information to see my benefits, and ended up with me having $475. I planned to pay it with my old HSA card that was on file, but I had misplaced. This HSA card was still active, but was connected to a health plan that I was no longer on, so I didn't have access to replace. Their front office accidentally deleted this card from their records, so I ended up having to pay all of this out of my own pocket. In addition to this, I am on a new insurance plan for 2024 and was told about my copay for each appointment. I work with insurance every day for my job, so I fully understood the benefits that were communicated to me by their office. However, I ended up with an unexpected bill from them. I reached out to the front office 3 separate times to get clarification on this. Someone did call me, however, I had missed the call and called them back. I left a message and also sent a follow up message to the front office and never heard anything back. I finally ended up just paying the bill because I received the EOB from my insurance so I knew it was correct. I am happy to pay what I owe, but I was hoping to hear from the office on this. These are just a few of the miscommunication I have experienced from both their front office and billing department. If it weren't for their great counselors, I would have found another place to go.Again, I am very grateful for my counseling experience here, but the front office has been difficult to work with at times.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I do not recommend this center at all. I only went three times, the first being all paperwork. The second two, the counselor mainly talked about herself. While she was a nice lady, I did the majority of the listening and then they had the audacity to charge me at a higher rate three months later for going past 52 minutes. If I had known this, I would have stopped it immediately. It s hard enough to find a counselor, but then to be taken advantage of is inexcusable.

My husband and I went here years ago. I would never recommend them. I not only believe in God but I have a relationship with him. Deb was not at all skilled to help with our marriage. She didn t even get it or in my opinion she just decided one thing and could not let it go. My thoughts make me feel she was wrong in her thinking. Thank the Lord he has worked through me in understanding what the problem really was in our lives. We have been guided to another church and people who truly care. I m not sure if she still works there or not. Something came to me today to post. I do know God loves everyone!!! n But make sure your counselors are not only qualified but actually walk with the Lord in their own relationships!

To be honest as nice as the lady my son on the spectrum sees ,she said that she wasn t quilted for his needs. My son is complex and though he s an adult he has a mind of a child/teen. So if you just have minimal issues then this may be the place for you. I m not a professional this is just my honest opinion. He s currently still seeing her until we get into another therapist/ psychiatrist.
