outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Individual and group therapy services offered three hours per day, three days per week to address substance use disorders in children.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapeutic technique that helps alleviate the distressing symptoms associated with traumatic memories. Using an adaptive information processing model that proposes trauma interrupts normal information processing, EMDR addresses the emotional, cognitive, and physical aspects of trauma. This leads to reduced symptoms and improved emotional well being.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

nutritional-therapy iconNutritional Therapy

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy in Michigan can be a good supplement to talk therapy for substance use disorder treatment. For those who find talk therapy difficult, this type of therapy provides creative expression and interactive activities that allow the client to explore emotions and motivations.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

There are numerous mental health programs in the community and network 180 is the gatekeeper, however they rarely approve anyone with Medicaid to participate in these programs, but they will allow you to see a psychiatrist who will ignore your past childhood diagnosis because adults don't have ADHD. He'll then open up his dsmv and prescribe you a mood stabilizer that works for most of his patients because you know psych meds are one size fit all. And if it doesn't work, good luck getting the treatment you need. You might as well give up. It's better than taking medication that is worse for your mental health. Your clients aren't going to get any better but maybe you don't want them to because then you wouldn't be getting repeat customers. This should be a CMH run by the local government, not a private company. Something ain't right with this organization.

The type of people to hang up when you're in a real crisis The type of owners to let people die on their own block

If you ever need mental health services, this is the place to avoid. They would rather allow someone to commit suicide than ever help them.

Do not. They will leave you hanging. They will watch you go through hell and smile in your face as they abandon you and set you up for failure. I absolutely regret getting involved with them.

It's been a month since posting below. Today my SO again tried to "take the 1st step" to recover from alcohol abuse. This time I waited with him for 4 hours before he left in frustration without having received the required "Alcohol Assessment" for Treatment Approval. After an initial 90 min. wait, an impromptu talk with a Recovery Coach led the front desk to mistakenly remove his name from the Que. Rather than get him in immediately, they restarted the entire process over! We watched several people get called in ahead and after another 90 min. of waiting he gave up and left the facility. Talk about a huge let-down; it seems there's no where else to turn. My deepest sympathies to all Kent County Medicaid patients forced to go through Network 180 before being allowed into detox or rehab. I truly hope you have better luck.Pathetic service. Hour-long wait times even if there is no one else waiting. Not helpful to people in crisis.

This agency is not only incompetent with providing legal health services, that they are funded to provide, they are discriminatory towards people who use drugs with co occuring disorders. their staff are not adequately trained in the services they provide, and deny people health care, which is illegal for those with mental health and substance use disorder. The staff are murderers, negligent of patients who seek emergency treatment for mental health and suicide. If you have SUD on your record, be prepared to die from their negligent stigmatizing uneducated staff. There should be external investigations on all these incidents, not only should providers lose their liscence, this agency should be terminated from receiving any federal funding. There should have been several law suits on them for denial of civil and human rights, and wrongful deaths. COVER UP. Most degrading facility I have ever been to, still can t function from the psychological torture they inflicted on me. I almost died from illegal practices at this agency!!!!! The staff is also breaking patient rights to be active in their recovery and have choices in their treatment and recovery. Staff fails to provide treatment options and provide other treatments when patient refuses controlled substances and disagrees with harmful big pharma propaganda, they do not offer a whole person approach, or person centered care. They also discriminate greatly against people with eating disorders, nor do they screen for them, or domestic violence. Considering the clientele they "serve" is significantly at risk for DV and SV, this is more than just a disservice but they are ignoring their licensing obligations of "do no harm", by default. They're commiting medical malpractice in many different ways.

If you are new and do not know information about the first thing they will do, I will let you know a little about them, when you enter through door A, which is just below the name Network 180, they offer you a small paper that you have to fill out, YOUR NAME, HOW DO YOU PREFER TO BE CALLED, DATE OF BIRTH, AND WHAT HELP YOU ARE SEEKING, (you do not have to offer your social number or your health insurance) since you hand in the paper after you fill it out, you wait for someone who will call you there if you ask the questions you want and they will evaluate you with about 10 questions and then they will recommend people who fit the help you are looking for (No one speaks Spanish there so to evaluate you they will connect an interpreter)

Just wanted to offset the negative reviews. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff here while struggling to get back on track. To those who read this and are struggling remember these are professionals who want to help. If you are not willing to accept the help they offer or are not willing to change or grow then it's going to impossible to improve your situation. They can help you with the tools you need to build with but they aren't going to build it for you. Be willing and receptive to change or realize you need help just don't expect them to parent you or treat you like a child.
