My caseworker that I haven't met yet after 3 months of playing phone tag oh no need to reach out to the manager she's still on vacation oh don't call for who's every covering that man is rude. So kesha and kariee. Pathetic. Kiaya brown sucks my son got into a fight and I was never notified by my caseworker. My sons shirt is bloody. Almost a year later caseworker number 7 still poor communication. My sons guardian asked for emergency custody to put my son in a different school? My sons dad has temporary custody I didn't know that took all my rights away I wasn't even told by nyap that his dad has been locked up for almost a month.

This agency is built on lies. They withhold information, prolong litigation, and operate in ways that feel completely unconstitutional. Families are dragged through unnecessary stress and hardship while the truth gets buried. No family should have to experience this. Transparency, honesty, and accountability should be the standard — not deception and delay. They constantly violate due process rights, argue and misrepresent facts in front of families, and attempt to exploit loopholes under the guise of “protecting children.” I’ve even heard it stated multiple times that protecting children is not their actual focus. Families deserve honesty, accountability, and genuine support — not an agency that bends rules and undermines trust.

Other Forms of Payment

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients who have just completed detox or who are at an increased risk of relapse, such as those experiencing a life crisis, typically enroll in an inpatient rehab. There, they receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive individual, group, and family therapy. Clients may also participate in life skills training to support their long-term sobriety. Integrative rehab centers offer a variety of evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation or equine therapy.

12-step icon12-Step

Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

When you quit smoking, your body experiences withdrawal because it's not used to the absence of nicotine. When you use nicotine replacement therapy in Ohio, you get controlled amounts of nicotine to ease these symptoms without the negative effects of the other chemicals found in cigarettes.

I’m sharing my full written review in the photo section for transparency, and to exercise my rights under the Consumer Review Fairness Act, which protects honest public feedback from retaliation or suppression. This was put on my heart to share today. I know how heavy it feels to stand in truth after being wronged so deeply, but if my experience helps even one other family feel a sense of peace or courage to speak up without fear, then it’s worth it. My experience with Franklin County Children Services (FCCS) and their contracted agency NYAP has raised serious concerns about accountability, transparency, and the protection of families who strive to do everything right. This is not the Ohio I believed in—not when it comes to good families who work hard to cooperate and do what’s asked of them. The measurable damage to my trust, my beliefs, and my perception of integrity within these agencies has been deeply discouraging. What I’ve experienced has shown serious gaps between policy and practice, and a refusal to correct errors even when clear evidence was provided. I have reported these issues to the Governor’s Office, which is already in communication with me regarding ODJFS and their Civil Rights Department’s mishandling of this matter and failure to act where clear civil rights violations have occurred. Pending the outcome of an upcoming hearing and the court’s decision on my Motion to Dismiss this case with prejudice, I intend to submit a full report to the Ohio Inspector General’s Office for further review and oversight. Families deserve due process, honesty, and respect—not case plans or decisions built on false or unverified claims. I hope my experience helps raise awareness and encourages other families to know their rights, request discovery, and document every step. Please refer to the attached images for my complete written account.

I think they need to investigate founding and the workers and see what they really get paid for!! They have all these resources!! Constantly lying and trying to load more on top of you!! They say they are helping you and doing footwork for you infact they are lying and leaving you out to dry!! I believe if I found a lawyer I could get them for harassment and prejudice!! Most of the workers do not have children and know how to reais children I don't believe this is a program that should be government founded!! They need investigated!!! Nothing about bringing families closer only trying to tear them down the middle!!

I just recently started dealing with this place due to having issues with my son and his behavior. My son was placed into the care of these people not because of neglect on my part or not being able to feed my child or anything of that nature. My son was in the custody of his grandfather when my Son decided he wanted to run away because he does not like structure so somehow Children Services got involved and the case got transferred over to Nyap I ended up with a caseworker named Jaquline Glenn Who in the beginning seemed confused about what was going on so I explained everything she seemed to be OK, however noticing that she began to create lies about me and say things like I didn’t want my son and I was not feeding him. He didn’t have enough food at home and those were the reasons why he was in their care. Total LIES!!!! my son is six months shy of about to be 18 years old, so my son definitely would know if he’s ever been without food or shelter or been neglected. He shared this with me when she went into the office at his school when trying to enroll him that she told the school counselor a lot of harsh things that he had abandonment That his mother was not properly taken care of him. Also to mention she’s unprofessional and does not really listen at all you constantly have to explain the situation to her as if she has so many cases she tends to get them confused. Maybe she got my case confused with somebody else. I left a message with her supervisor hopefully, she will return my message as I’m not a typical parent who does not care about their child Signed him up there because I care too much for my son and his well-being and I didn’t want him to keep getting in trouble living in a small area where he is unable to attend the school in our district. Also, FYI, the caseworker also felt it was her need to let me know that she was not getting paid for mileage and she didn’t like to drive long distances because of it.

Awful. The workers are terrible here. Talk about people, don't communicate, act like you're the one who lost their kids. They sided with the kids' abusive mother more than us. Regardless of that, they don't keep you updated on ANYTHING. Constant phone tag then last minute, oh something big you missed and it's your fault. They don't give you funds or vouchers for the kids, although I don't mind I'd rather just focus on their safety but they're not concerned about any kids. All about how they can drop the ball and leave it rolling for the next person to run after.
