About Nashville Rescue Mission – Life Recovery Program

The Nashville Rescue Mission runs the Life Recovery Program in Nashville, Tennessee. In this program, men who are over 18 can participate in a Christian centered residential addiction recovery program. The women’s and men’s programs are separate. This center’s for men, while women stay on Rosa Parks Blvd. Women can keep their children with them in some circumstances.

This is a non-medical program that uses spirituality based on Christian beliefs as the foundation for their program. From this base, they teach participants life skills intended to develop healthy relationships with others, work ethic, and financial responsibility.

If this program sounds like a good fit for you, the entry requirements are that you be physically and emotionally stable enough not to need hospitalization. You’ll need to be able to climb stairs and possibly sleep on the top bunk of a bunk bed.

They do not take men who are court ordered into treatment or who need to show they are in treatment to receive housing or social benefits.

After completing their program, guys who need a place to stay can continue to use their shelter while building up a work history.

Heart icon Treatment

book iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

prescription iconDrug Addiction

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

file-medical iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

prescription-bottle-pill iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

house-medical iconAftercare

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically have abstained from drugs or alcohol for a period of weeks or months and have completed high-level (often inpatient) treatment. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to support clients in maintaining their sobriety as they re-engage with their ordinary lives at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Services are highly individualized and evolve with clients' changing needs, but generally include peer coaching and relapse prevention.

clipboard-medical iconMedically Assisted Detox

To keep you safe and comfortable during the detoxification process, a medically assisted detox provides you with a team of medical professionals who can provide the necessary medications to treat any potential withdrawal symptoms. Suddenly stopping chronic abuse of substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects.

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness Therapy

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

When my ex-husband set me on fire and left me for dead I end up there for a few weeks inside the building where I was harassed my privacy was broken I had to tell them about certain things about how I was born that I keep secret because people judge me even though God made me the way I am the staff immediately told the rest of the facility members what I had told them in confidence and made them swear under God's name not to tell.. this left me open to ridicule horrible acts towards my person and then finally had to be in the hospital for 4 days because I ate one teaspoon of the food and lost 36 lb over 4 days about to use the bathroom over 100 times a day in the hospital my blood tests are currently being sent to a special facility to test for rare poisons many people have complained lately that they are having constant bouts of lower GI this place is a lot of things but it doesn't even rate a .5 in my book then Glenn the CEO and preacher stands up there and pontificates and talks about one time in my sitting there how he took care of himself and he lived the Lord's work he probably really believes himself and everything that came out of his mask wearing mouth was not true this is my opinion and we're in America we have the right to our opinion and also being an ordained minister I know a godly man when I see one and he is not one in my opinion I don't know how this place got those good reviews it probably came from the staff and the drug dealers that work in there I saw that with my own eyes daily as far as the other reviews they probably came from the drug dealers within the place that I watched deal drugs every day I was there

Okay,I'd like to start this review by saying I'm not biased in anyway, I hold no grudges whatsoever this is just what I saw and what happend in the only way I can explain it. I'd like to start off with how GOOD the homeless eat who stay at the shelter. Some days were worse than others, but I got pulled pork, ribs, hot dogs ,n burgers n chips. It was truly incredible some days. But that's the only good part of this review, and it's a long one, so strap in. THE PLACE IS NASTY! Feces all over the toilets and walls of the bathroom, piss all over the ground, flooded urinals. It was so bad I didn't even use the toilets once when I stayed, and I was there for 4 weeks. TERRIBLE bed bugs I was bitten almost every night. I had to cover my dreads every night. I had to go to the clinic for special ointment it was so bad. I got a late pass to stay out everynight until 11:30 and they tried giving my bed away 4 times. I was told it's my fault becuase I never told the case workers how to do THIER job correctly. I stayed for a little less then 4 weeks and NEVER received a blanket even tho they TOOK mine upon entry. And again I cannot reinerate enough the place was nasty outside in the courtyard where they kept our lockers and often forced us to go so they could "clean" was disgusting. Garbage everywhere feces piss puke you name it, it was out there everywhere every day. The staff was so disrespectful it's a wonder none of them were attacked while I was there. Because they know if we show any sign of aggression,we get in trouble kicked out or worse, they egg you on. From the second the conversation starts, they have an attitude, speak to you like your a child, etc. Save maybe 3 staff members. They locked us outside for 2 hours a day to "clean" even tho the place is always gross and refused to give me or let me get water, and the temperature was 107. I had just walked 14m to get a job and told them that. And they didn't care at all. Forceful in their commands of everything like we're prisoners. Again,I'd like to state this is just what happened to me while I was there. I didn't do anything to provoke anyone and followed the rules while I was there and was treated as such. Now, I think it's only fair that I review the homeless as well because they were almost no better. On edge constantly, dirty. DIRTY to the point they didn't care about anything throwing garbage where ever whiping feces on the walls constantly arguing. The energy as soon as you walked in was immediately off. Alot of it was the older guys. People who had nothing left. And again not all, I met some really nice people but at the end of they day when you treat people like animals they tend to act like animals. I was flat out refused service by staff simply because they didn't want to and didn't feel like doing their job. I know this because if one case manager or staff member didn't want to do something and stated we don't do that here. You could literally walk 5 feet to someone else, and they would do it, no problem. Example. I needed clothes for work after i asked 3 different case managers the last one was happy to help me get clothes. I needed a late pass written, 2 case managers said no and the third was happy to help, I needed lunch for the lunch work program they are supposed to provide and every morning I had to argue just to get lunch from a service they provided! I suggest stopping any donations you might be wanting to send because there's a good chance your donations aren't actually being used like they say they are. This rescue should be under investigation and shut down only to open under new management. Like the people over at room in the inn WHAT A DIFFERENCE. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. The staff at the room in the inn are actually decent human beings and provide so much help in the things they do. The rescue didn't have clean towels 4 days in a row when I asked them to shower. They would mostly have a slick comment, that's it . As I travel, I will continue to leave reviews in the hopes that real change will come. If God is real, he certainly is not in the NRM.

Yikes! Came here and realized I did not come to be treated like a prisoner or refugee at an asylum center. Yes it's big and holds more than 300 people at once. However this would be like a last resort for single ladies and mothers who have no family support nor can afford a hotel and other places have not taken them in

A. Hi Jennifer, we're so sorry you didn't feel the love of Jesus when you interacted with our staff. One of our core values is radical hospitality, and we take it very seriously. We recognize homelessness can occur to anyone, and we strive to treat our guests with the dignity and respect they deserve. We know there are many tangible resources and actionable ways to help someone struggling with homelessness, so we provide both resources and hope in Christ to those in need. We're sorry you didn't feel this way during your stay, and thank you for providing feedback on your experience.

I've called this place about 10 times in the past week. Pretty much begging for help for me and my 2 littles girls. And I have a service dog for hearing impairment. Well I called tonight 6/26)24 and the lady I spoke with made me think there was room because she asked if I had a ride and I told her yes. I then said I also have a service animal she asked if I had proof which I do and I told her I did. Which legally she isn't supposed to I ask. She asked what breed and I told her she then asked someone else something and put me on hold and then the phone just started ringing and it kept ringing nobody ever came back to the phone nor called me back. I think this was wrong; so because I have a hearing impairment I can't get help?!
