Narcanon Louisiana is a safe haven. This is a place that can help you drastically change your life if that s what you need. The entire staff has first-hand knowledge of what a drug addict is going through, and that carries a lot of weight toward rehabilitation guidance. The tactics used here are outside of the box, and they are teaching powerful methods of conflict resolution that can be applied in so many life situations. A person always has to be proactive in their own path in life, and this program shows you how to forgive yourself and move forward in a more meaningful way than previously experienced. I will be forever grateful to Narconon Louisiana.

I left Narconon in September of 2022.I am enrolled in school now with my own apartment, car, and healthy relationships with all my friends and family.Considering I came from about as rock bottom as it could get (broken hearted, socially despised, and facing felony charges), I have completely altered the outcome of my life with the help of these dedicated and knowledgeable staff members. This is a 10 star place! The immense knowledge I have gained from my student program, as well as nearly a year of staff work, has laid the foundation on which I have been able to start building a life I never thought I could achieve. From being a hair away from a bid in prison, to a high functioning and appreciative member of society, I share the wealth of knowledge I learned here with everyone who is facing conflict in their own lives. The program is not easy, and will force you to take ultimate responsibility for all aspects of your life. The unrivaled support and relationships you acquire here will last you a lifetime, but you have to first be honest with yourself.I don t mean to put down anyone s subjective experience, however, the one star views prove to me presence of an intense bias.Proof? Why are there no 2 or 3 star votes? How is something either 5 stars or 1?Contemplate that for a second like I have and you will come to the reasonable conclusion that those 1 star-raters have a strong emotional bias towards situations that they feel they were victim to.This place only means to help!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab gives clients a chance to focus on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment away from outside distractions, stressors, and addiction triggers. Clients reside at the treatment facility and engage in intensive psychotherapy, which may include individual, group, and family counseling.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients enrolled in rehab aftercare programs have completed high-level treatment and are typically in the maintenance phase of their recovery, receiving customized services designed to support their sustained sobriety. Case managers and care teams typically begin to plan for the client's rehab aftercare services early in the treatment process to ensure the client's fluid reentry into their home, workplace, and community. These programs evolve as clients' needs change, and frequently include peer coaching, relapse prevention, and career counseling.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs enable participants to focus on their long-term sobriety through rigorous peer support and ongoing personal growth. They engage in regular, peer-directed 12 step meetings and receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and available multiple times a day, 365 days per year in most communities. Though 12 steps of recovery are rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn't mandatory. Specialized programs are widely available, including youth and family meetings.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Collaboration between a professional treatment team and the family of an addicted loved one is an essential benefit of intervention services in Louisiana. Working together, they can develop the best strategies for a drug intervention. These experienced professionals know what protocols are most effective for interventions and provide expert insight that can improve the outcome of the intervention. An intervention specialist acts as a mediator during the intervention and a guide for next steps based on the outcome of the effort.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

While each drug rehab in Louisiana offers unique elements, recovery support often follows a similar pattern. Detox is followed by inpatient and/or outpatient care, then aftercare support is provided once the participant completes the initial program.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Couples therapy focuses on helping the couple develop skills that will improve the relationship. These include communication, conflict resolution, and anger management. Couples also identify dysfunctional behaviors and work to eliminate them.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy is a holistic therapy that allows you to relearn healthy habits you have lost during active addiction. Therapists help you identify the best foods that will give your body the nutrients it needs for recovery and daily living.

The reason why I give a 5 out of 10 review to this center is because maybe I learned some things but when the treatment was over I was sure I didn't recovered completely.

Ive done at least 5 12-step programs before coming to Narconon. I never thought i would get off painkillers. I simply succumbed to the fact that I was always going to be on heroin and painkillers. I stand here corrected. This program was nothing short of brilliant.. I have no desire to do painkillers anymore. The Scientific approach, the sauna detox, the life handlings.. Even during covid when things got hard for everyone the staff here demonstrated themselves to be the hardest and most dedicated drug counselors I ever encountered. You can tell these guys were on another level. I owe them everything. The combination of program steps and the actual personell delivering it made me realize I can be cause instead of effect in life. Anyone can become a recovered addict that s right RECOVERED.

Narconon New Life Retreat saved my life. I am sober today because of this program. That being said, this program will break you down and build you back up, but this process is necessary. Sobriety cannot be dealt with within a thirty-day period. It is so so so much deeper than that. You have to completely focus on yourself, work the steps, and adhere to the staff's advice. It is a miracle that I am alive standing here today and I couldn't have done it without the loving support of these amazing people. Almost every staff member has suffered through addiction in the past, and knows the struggle first-hand. Anyone unsure if they should take these next steps, please listen . . . it's not going to be easy but YOU MATTER. Give yourself a chance and you will not be disappointed.

I went and completed the program and couldn t recommend it more for people that are looking for help and want to get sober. They helped me take responsibility back in my life and address the root issues of my addiction, unlike other rehabs I had tried in the past. They helped me realize that I CAN take control of my life and become the better person I wanted to be for so long. Anybody looking for help and is ready to be sober should look into it! It s helped me in more ways then I can list. All the staff are super nice and helpful and truly understand the pain that comes with addiction and getting sober, which helps a lot! Couldn t reccomend it more!

I went here. Until my family told me Dianna manipulated the guest list to my daughters wedding. They also tried to manipulated my relationship between my fianc and I. When I walked out, the workers had the female clients pack my belongings. Welp, the employees also turned a blind eye and let the females help themselves to whatever they wanted. All my nail polish. (I had a few years of polish collected so you can imagine the quantity.) Some very expensive sunglasses. $100+ in art supplies. Rubber boots that cost $55. My $40 container of tide pods. These are just the things I can list off the top of my head. Not to mention, they are compulsive liars. They said it s a non religious program but yet they push Scientology. They advertise non medical. Yet I was given Subutex. After all this I requested a refund. I would have taken a partial refund but they refused. They would not reimburse me, not one red cent. I was only there for 10 days. Crooks I tell you. So, if you do decide to go with this program, I highly recommend looking into other locations. I hear Mexico is nice.- Stephanie

I was stuck in a dark place for decades. Ive lost my true self. Failed to see any light anywhere. Digging holes to the earth's core, trapped in the cycle of addiction. Narconon's staff pulled me out of the dark cold abyss! Reaching out with their kind hearts and caring nature finally I see the light! Regaining my self and sparkle back! They never judged me or attempted to shove any religious beliefs down my throat, i trusted them! With that built trust I started to open up again and 3 years ago I become forever sober! I never looked back since. Accomplishing many goals I never thought I would achive. Their non traditional way was one of the many things that sold me, since I attempted 12 steps with NO success multiple times, thinking I had no other options. I gave up deemed forever an addict but something inside of me just said "keep looking!" I stumbled upon Narconon, the savior of my soul!!! With it being more affordable than all of the others I looked at and the Intake specialist were so sweet working with me as best as they can to find a solution to getting me in. They never gave up on me I knew right then this is the place. So I didn t hesitate to jump on a plane and fly to Louisiana! Best decision I've ever made, I can actually be proud of who I am again.
