About Mosaic Life Care

Mosaic Life Care is a health facility that offers drug and alcohol rehab. They are located in Saint Joseph, Missouri. They primarily treat people who have mental illness and struggle with substance use disorder at the same time. They accept private insurance and they have financial assistance for those who qualify.

This facility has a trained and licensed team of mental health professionals to help you. If a mental illness or traumatic experience has caused you to misuse drugs or alcohol, they will treat you with both group and individual therapy.

When a person with a mental health condition uses drugs, it often has an impact on those closest to you. They offer family therapy sessions here. You’ll be able to explain your struggles with addiction to your family and tell them how they can help you get sober. It is often easier to talk to loved ones when a therapist is there to act as a mediator.

Clients who struggle with substance use issues and mental health issues are often treated with dialectical behavior therapy. This type of treatment teaches people coping mechanisms for dealing with stress. It also teaches them to accept the reality of their situation and change their attitude toward that reality.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy, you may also be treated with relaxation therapy. This entails breathing techniques and meditation.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The service once you get to the doctor is good, and the nurses are friendly and caring. Now, before you get that part there is a ton of people waiting to be attended, and they move so slow, and they are so inefficient.

If I could rate this place of business less than one star I would. If I was taking my last dying breath and this place offered medical care I would refuse. This place is a front for one of the largest medical scams in St. Joe history.

I was admitted on the 25th of July and release on the 27th all the staff from emergency room to discharge was fantastic. The surgeons were fantastic making sure that I was not in pain when removing the cysts from my shoulder. The nurses were just as great Twilla and Rod they went above and beyond. the PCA's were great as well. People in the dining room that took my order for my meals were great and the food selection was very impressive. All the Doctors that came by I want to say that they were great friendly and very enjoyable to be around. They explained everything to me in terms I could understand. Dr Yang met my granddaughter he tried to talk to her in Spanish and she finally talked to him. He came by checking up on me constantly. Everyone treated my wife just was well.

I came today with a horrible pain from my right hip going down to my leg and crossing all my right knee. I couldn t walk and I still cannot walk a step without having pain. I never saw an ER Doctor today. I never saw a ER Doctor last time I came to ER 6 or 7 months ago either.Just a Practitioner nurse has seen me today and the last time I came. I explained to the nurse today that I had been at the hospital for similar situation and the last couple of times, ( maybe twice a year ), the nurse prescribed me 3 or 4 pills of prednisone, not very strong. The pain disappeared and I didn t have it back for many months. She recommended 2 injections. I recognized one of the pain killer, because my son take it in pills with horrible side effects. He is a cancer patient. I told the nurse today, that the previous nurse prescribed me 3 or 4 prednisone pills for 3 or 4 days, that s all. And I told her that the pain disappear for many months. She told me that she will not prescribe any prednisone pills to me.3 or 4 pills of prednisone for few days don t hurt too much. I will NOT consider continue taking it for a longer time. Even these few pills may help the patient to feel better with no pain for months. So at least the previous nurse prescribed 4 pills to relief my pain, today not pills were prescribed not even for 2 days. I think ER nurses need supervision from ER physicians.Horrible service. By the way I am starting to think ER Doctors at Mosaic just take care of some particular patients, if they are really present in ER. Personally, I haven t seen one for the last 2 years. This administration is horrible. That is not even including my son experience, who is a CA patient. He came one night to this hospital, the nurse read the wrong lab results to him. They put him an IV, after trying many times, and they did it for no reason, because he was discharged with no treatment. Amazing quality medical service Today, I had to come again. Obviously, because they sent me home last night with no medicine al all.Today I came to ER again. I had a great experience with the Practitioner and the nurse, who saw me. In addition of the 2 injections they put me today, the nurse in charge prescribed for me Finally 4 tablets of Prednisone just for 4 days. That s exactly what I needed it yesterday. This nurse was willing to get rid of my pain. She also order 2 more pills to help eliminate the pain. I am so blessed I came before 12:00pm, and I found this amazing head nurse: I think her name was Mandy. Not sure, but the 2 nurses I saw today were very professional and they really wanted to help me today.

My wife was in the hospital and later the acute rehab unit. The nurses, aids, and therapists were very good at their jobs and caring. My issue is with her discharge and case/social worker. They knew of her possible discharge date well in advance. But waited till Thursday at 4PM to tell us she was going to be discharged Friday afternoon and we needed to find a skilled nursing facility for her. We are not from this area, originally from north east Iowa. So we did not know of the facilities in this area. The case worker came to us at 10AM with a list of snf that accepted her came back at 11AM with 2 more. Called us at noon wanting a decision. Wanted us to call her back in 5 minutes with a decision. Very disappointed and upset with our treatment.

I wouldn't walk my dog in the front door to get a drink of water! This has to be the worst hospital nationwide! I have too many instances with too many family members and myself to even describe the lack of care and medical knowledge you receive at this hospital!! You couldn't even diagnose my son!! Your doctor sent him home with 104 temperature and told him to drink fluids... HE HAD AML LEUKEMIA!! I thank the Lord for Children's Mercy otherwise my son would no longer be here if I continued to go to Mosaic. If I could post a negative star review, I would do it. Top 100 hospital? Are you SERIOUS??
