About BayCare Behavioral Health- Morton Plant Hospital

Morton Plant Hospital- Behavioral Health, located in Clearwater, Florida, is a part of BayCare. They provide mental health treatment and substance use disorder treatment services to men and women seeking support and recovery. Morton Plant Hospital- Behavioral Health, offers inpatient and outpatient services.

Inpatient treatment is for those who need mental and physical stabilization. This is a highly structured and monitored style of treatment that often incorporates detoxification into the process. Once stabilization has been achieved, counseling, educational classes, and behavioral approaches to treatment can begin. Common elements of inpatient include individual therapy, group therapy, and medication or trauma-informed counseling.

Outpatient treatment programming is a more flexible approach to addiction treatment that is a step down from partial hospitalization programs and intensive outpatient programs. This service provides continued support for addiction recovery through individual therapy, group therapy, and educational classes on addiction and recovery. Medications may be managed and for those in need, trauma support may also be offered. The goal is to continue to move toward a life of recovery and a suitable aftercare treatment plan that allows for reintegration back into society.

This place is a drug pushing no help locked down nightmare. I would never stick your family members here or have them check themselves in. All they do is guess what s wrong with you and push pills starting very early on the morning until late at night. Save your self a bad scary experience getting woke up every 10 minutes every night and never getting any sleep. That willl make anyone normal very crazy with no sleep for 5 days. Jason thinks he s helping everyone, but all he does is whine and talk to you like your a 4 year old. The social worker thinks she knows what s she s doing and she send my appointment all the way in fort myers. How was that going to happen social worker? What I needed was hormone therapy and sleeping pills for menopause and they treated me like I was a psychiatric patient. I will bash this place to anyone and everyone anytime I get a chance. Don t do it don t send your precious family here they will destroy your mind in a. Matter of days. Run away. And Keith . Thought he was a kind of good person , but he s far from it. Leaving his woman for having. Menopause. Glad I have a better man than him. Shows what type of person he is. Anyone who has worked on that floor Adler 6 for 20 years has to have their own mental issues. Nancy was the only nurse that I liked. She knew what I had and said they should send me home sooner. But I find out they got a 5 day approval from my insurance company so that s what they do take that insurance money. Nancy your better than that crazy ward that does nothing to help people. I hope you can get out of that whacked out place. This place helps nobody and it never will. And a lot of the staff at night on their phones and or asleep all night at the desks. This place is pathetic. Save yourself and never check in or go there, they will drug you up and keep you up 24 hours a day to suffer without sleep.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs support recovery through emotional, psychological, and spiritual development to address the root causes of addiction. These programs are peer directed, with participants regularly attending 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round. Recovery is based on "working the steps" to understand the source of addiction, take accountability for one's life choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Age-specific, gender-separate, and other specialized programs are widely available.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Florida consists of individual therapy and group instruction. This structured program is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates the development of skills for managing emotions and relationships.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

Took ambulance to this hospital to get checked out because I was loosing my balance.. ended up getting arrested for trespassing and thrown in jail for 3 days. Security claims I was harassing people which is outrageous. And lied about asking me to leave multiple times. When I decided to leave I was arrested waiting for my uber.. Security lied on me multiple times. I have evidence against them. And I'm waiting for a court date.

Terrible hospital! Super bad experience! I got there almost 5am after trying to heal myself alone with 4 Tylenol, no sleep, with severe synos infection, headache, pain on my face, sore throat! They have me a Ibuprofen! I left after 4 hours inside the hospital with pain, with sore throat, headache and pain! Spent $250 to come home with a prescription of a pill that I can buy over the counter! I told the nurse 2 times that it won t heal me because I know! It s not the first time I have synus infection but they didn t care! Very disappointed! Wanted my time and my money and now I still am sick! DO NOTCOME HERE IF TOU ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD DOCTORS TO SOLVE YOUR PAIN, YOU ARE BETTER OFF GOING TO A 24h CVS AND GET A IBUPROFEN OBER THE COUNTER, it will save you time, money! Because that s what they will do

My adult child voluntarily admitted herself in due to her mental health condition. The good, my child was unable to harm herself if her condition got worst. All the bads: 1) Lack of communication between the medical staff themselves and also with the patients. Yes, some people who are admitted are repeats but there are some that are experiencing this for the first time and any guidance would have been greatly appreciated instead of being left in the dark. 2) Staffs who are there just for a paycheck. If you have lost your empathy or desire to help people (especially those who are suffering from depression or feeling suicidal) please do the world a favor and go work somewhere instead of sticking around and making someone feel even worst or inadequate about themselves for being there. 3) Explain to the patient what he/she should do after discharge. Let them know that if they have any prescription that it might be filled out in the hospital's pharmacy. 4) Training on how to educate families and patients who are experiencing this for the first or at least let the family know that someone is there to help them in this tough situation. Again, not everyone who comes in are repeat patients who knows the drill.

This place helped me a lot. I was desperately in need of psychiatric help. I knew I had some sort of mental illness but was undiagnosed and had nowhere else to turn. It was interfering with my job performance and ability to hold a job, and since I was raised by narcissists I had no family support. No friends, either. The staff were very kind and attentive, and took care of our needs well. I was diagnosed and provided medication on day 1. When I left, one of the nurses paid for a month's worth of prescriptions out of pocket because I wasn't going to be able to afford them. There were so many ungrateful inpatients and I was disgusted by the way they took this place for granted. As for me, I know what it's like to suffer without help and these people were treating me well when life wasn't and no one else was. The difference these people made in my life is an experience I'll never forget. Ignore these ungrateful 1 star reviewers who clearly don't know what it's like to struggle with mental illness while alone in the world and having to fend for yourself and survive.
