About Momentum for Mental Health – Residential

Momentum for Mental Health – Residential is an alcohol and drug rehab center and mental health treatment facility for adolescents and adults in San Jose, California. They provide inpatient treatment, residential treatment, outpatient treatment and aftercare support for individuals, families, groups, seniors and those who are hearing-impaired.

Their inpatient program includes drug detox treatment and 24/7 care. Clients attend individual and family therapy sessions to get to the root of their addiction, identify the issues that lead to their addictive behavior and learn the basic tools required to live a healthy life free of drugs or alcohol.

Their residential program allows clients to focus completely on recovery while they receive substance abuse treatment services. They will follow individualized treatment plans that may include continued therapy and counseling services, as well as psychiatric support for co-occurring addictions and mental health disorders. Multi-disciplinary providers employ evidence-based treatment modalities to help clients work through their addictions and achieve sobriety, including experiential therapy, medical nutrition therapy, rational emotional behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.

Their outpatient program is the least intensive treatment that the center provides, allowing clients to live and work at home while visiting the center for counseling, life skills training and related services. They may still attend individual, group, or peer-led therapy sessions and participate in various forms of educational programming, including relapse prevention courses.

Their aftercare services help clients integrate back into society and maintain their sobriety, with available offerings that include career counseling, employment training and related programs.

Momentum for Mental Health – Residential is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

My relative was sent here she at beginning was saying she has been harrased and wanted to get out of there. Since she is not defiant and nice they have forced her to move to another facility because after 6 months they send them somewhere else for longer stay. She did not have any place back then in February now is August and until last month she wanted to come and live with me but due to pressure of choosing where to go or being manipulated by fear she all of sudden doesn't want to talk to me. I will take action. Very rude and unprofessional the admins so far and I can not get case managers name. My relative was forced by not knowing what to do so she didn't want to talk to me when I call her therefore clinician got involved. Now, she can not or will not be able to see me for her upcoming birthday so called 3 days pass. Why not???? Please someone who has been there help me.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Cathy Van should be sued and fired. She lied on an official CSR report. While patient is completely in cooperation with her doctor and she knows this because Cathy was present for client and DR meeting. Cathy was initially immediately disrespectful and then because she's on a power trip and unwilling to give mutual respect she threatened to negatively write csr reports due to her personal feelings towards me. She is unprofessional and not doing her job right.

To all staff at fsp 90, Thank you all for your tireless help. My only son has been plagued and struggling with symptoms of schizophrenia carried on by his father's side for 20 plus years. As I look back at not just my son's case but many many other families who's loved ones struggle with symptom's I know all to well it's a tough job to handle when there's not much our state can do more to help. It leave's our care takers, facilities, hospital's, c.w., agencies, jails etc with not much to work with and vulnerabilities that take on a much more dangerous side. Unfortunately we have cases that end up with neglectful and unsafe issue's that occur, from drug use for sexual favors to unchecked abuse. This I know is not new new's. There has to be some way, some hope, and compassion....Respectfully,L.B

They have horribly mismanaged my case. Apparently they think it's appropriate to punish clients by leaving them without medication for 5 weeks at a time. Case manager just wanted to argue about how it was all my fault instead of actually trying to help solve the problem. Don't come to this place.
