This is an incredible resource for mental health in Jackson County. I ve utilized their services and despite some communication issues, they are always so kind and accommodating. Many negative experiences I see are from people already dealing with a lot of stress outside of this facility, and aren t patient going into it.Like other bureaucratic services, it helps going into this place with a mindful and patient attitude, if you can.

Thank you for the thoughtful review, Ezra. We really appreciate it. We are grateful for all feedback as it helps us better our services and it is always nice to hear when we have been effective in helping.
This amazing caring staff IS the difference at heartland. This is an underrated community resource in independence and Jackson county. It's not the abundance of resources, or judgements free environment of learning the art of new patterns and behaviors as tools to combat a variety of epidemics that affect every family. It is the HUMAN compassion, patience, counseling and tools for accountability. This place is a lifeline for those who have and have not other options or resources. Walk in and ask for help. It's that easy. First step.
Did the CIP program here. I went into the program dreading having to spend my evenings doing 4 hour classes but Linda Williams was beyond fantastic as a counselor. Our group sessions became something I looked forward to. I cannot say enough good things about Linda and the way she ran the group.
