About M G Counseling Services

MG Counseling Services is a rehab offering outpatient programs for adults in Marietta, Georgia. They provide mental health counseling, psychiatric services, and addiction treatment for people with substance use disorders.

Addiction and mental health related services offered at MG Counseling Services include dual diagnosis assessments and treatment plans, intensive outpatient programming, substance use disorder outpatient detox, counseling, medication management, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and community-based referrals.

Assessments help to determine whether a person shows symptoms of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. MG Counseling Services provides dual diagnosis services to treat both disorders at the same time using a variety of techniques, including CBT, relapse prevention, and stress reduction. Counseling is provided to individuals, couples, families, and in group settings.

MG Counseling Services’ substance use disorder treatment programs rely on evidence based practices to treat addiction and mental health conditions. They offer programs for adults ages 18 and over. Treatment begins with an assessment to determine individual needs, then rehab services, and often medication assisted treatment, are provided based on those results. Counselors work with participants to create a client centered treatment plan.

The medication-assisted treatment (MAT) rehab program includes counseling, support groups, and medication management in an outpatient setting. The MAT program is appropriate for alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamines, and marijuana addictions. As clients progress and stabilize, in person office appointments tend to become less frequent.

MG Counseling Services provides its mental health and substance abuse treatment services under various payment means, including a sliding scale payment model. This means for those who qualify, treatment fees are based on income. Clients should be prepared to fill out an application and provide the requested financial information. You may also be asked to provide Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance information.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of ridding the body of addictive substances in a medically supervised setting. If you become chemically dependent on a substance like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Ativan), quitting abruptly can cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. Licensed medical professionals ensure the process goes as safely and comfortably as possible while monitoring you 24/7 and administering any required medications,

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

In trauma therapy, you address the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic events in your life. Your therapist provides you with the tools you need to process those memories and reduce the symptoms. This helps improve your overall mental health and functioning.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

The receptionist lady that answers the phone is VERY rude. Seems annoyed by simple questions. I completed my evaluations and sessions but had to call THREE times for her to send paperwork to my lawyer. I literally sat in court waiting for her to send my completion forms. My attorney had to put a hold on my case. I then decided to drive up to M G Counseling to ask for her to please send my paperwork to my attorney (4th time) and a physical copy for myself just in case. I was met with attitude, flinging of papers, and an overall uncomfortable experience. She still has yet to send my paperwork to my attorney, but thank God I went to get my own copy to give to them myself. The guy that actually administers the evaluations is a really nice guy. He needs a new secretary ASAP!

Called to get information, and the receptionist did not seem to care. Lack of interest, and seemed bothered by my question.

I am a criminal defense attorney in Marietta, Georgia and I have used MG Counseling's services nearly every month since the beginning of my practice. In every case, Mr. McGuire has provided an accurate and thorough assessment of my client's personalized addiction treatment needs. When I present my client's case in court, I rely on Mr. McGuire's thoughtful assessments and recommendations. His expertise has helped my firm secure more lenient sentences in many cases. He is also one of the only addiction counselors that will meet with my clients in jail. Day or night.I would highly recommend M G Counseling's services to any person or family member seeking addiction counseling resources.
