Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

If you need some flexibility and choice when it comes to your recovery, outpatient rehab programs are a great option because they do not require intensive inpatient treatment. Clients remain in their own homes and may continue to work or attend school while in active treatment. Outpatient treatment typically includes addiction counseling and continuing recovery education, including courses in self-care and relapse prevention. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available in many treatment centers for clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

The number one rule of a sober living home in Indiana is that residents cannot use or bring alcohol or drugs into the home. Breaking this rule typically results in eviction. In addition to this rule, men's and women's sober living homes have other standards that residents must meet. These usually include maintaining a job, helping with meal preparation and house cleaning, and attending 12-step meetings.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

When you receive 24-hour clinical care in Indiana, you'll be under constant supervision from highly trained medical staff. Nurses, doctors, and addiction specialists provide medications and other treatment to address withdrawal symptoms and any additional medical needs. Common medications that are prescribed include valium and Librium to relieve alcohol withdrawal, and anti-depressants to relieve cocaine withdrawal. For opioid abuse, doctors may prescribe methadone or naltrexone to manage cravings and clonidine to treat high blood pressure.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills include cognitive skills, interpersonal skills, and personal skills that help you manage daily living. Cultivating these skills during rehab in Indiana is an important part of recovery. With these skills, you'll be able to navigate challenges and prevent relapse.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creative arts therapy opens an alternative pathway to emotional health. For those who find it difficult to talk about their feelings, it provides a new way to express feelings and thoughts. Options include poetry, music, journaling, dance, and painting.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

This place is a joke! The nurses are the most unprofessional people in the whole world, and their negligence amazes me! Basically, I can google everything, and my answer would be the same that the doctor is giving me.

Although I was in the ICU, I truly had incredible nurses taking care of me. For the 8 days I was in ICU, each nurse made me feel comfortable, helped me when needed and always answered my buzz with a helpful smile. Any alarms going off they got to my room speedily. They were all such a blessing to me.

Not all of the experience was bad, I appreciate the people that did there jobs. And for the food service and nurses that were worried more about who my husband is than doing their job correctly is on something else. And for food service it embarrassing that we work for the same company and I have to threaten to call corporate to get treated correctly. How do you give people the same selections everyday and never pass them the menu with different choices, when we both know better.

I have always praised Methodist Northlake, for everytime I go I have a great experience until today. I went in for what I thought was a kidney infection. I was seated in waiting room told to give urine and wait. I waited for the doctor who only took me to the side room. The doctor told me that he was mixing me up with another patient with same symptoms. As I waited for 4 hrs for my urine results only to have the doctor tell me they can not test my urine because of my menstrual. He stated however he was going to treat it as if it was a kidney infection. He sent me home with no antibiotics just pain pills. When looking at my mychart...it clearly states I have an infection. Still in pain and no treatment, so now tomorrow I have to go to urgent care. Now my insurance is going to be billed twice for same issue. Very disappointed.

THANK YOU to my entire pregnancy team!! I was treated so well for my stay and everyone did a great job making me comfortable for my first time giving birth! They even appreciated my birth plan!! First and foremost my OB Dr Maya Dominique who is amazing and so kind and the best OB anyone can ask for hands down!! She was with me every step of the way and put up with all my questions lol and when I got scared about having a c section she provided great comfort and made sure my son got here safely! I very highly recommend requesting her!! My nurses were all sweet and were so patient with me! They checked on me constantly and reassured me throughout my experience! They even talked to me on a personal level and made me feel like I was amongst friends! shout out to Allena, Lauren, Ronnie, Ra Chel, Cynthia, and Loreal!! You re in good hands if you get any one of them!! My baby s nurses were diligent and kind and handled my baby with extreme care! I was nervous about letting him out of my sight since he is my first but they made sure he was treated well and I was aware of everything they did and also made sure he got everything he needed!! Shout out to Antionette Perez, Antionette G., Sylvia, and Ellen!! Your baby will be well taken care with them!! The anesthesiologist was Dr. Mordi, he was gentle and very kind and during my c section he talked to me to keep me calm!! Make sure to request your epidural when he is on shift!!

Worst psych department. Discharged my daughter when she wasn't on her medicine all the way, and now she sits in University of Chicago with a brain bleed. Thanks Methodist, you people should be ashamed of yourselves, no one they labeled Methodist as the number one unsafe hospitals in the state.
