If there were negative zero stars that would apply. A social worker for my child and one for myself asked us questions on an intake form that were leading or misleading. They did not correctly document for us and now we cannot get incorrect mental health diagnosis off of our charts. We must go through red tape. The intake form and it s questions are misleading.Neurodivergent people may answer them and look more ill because we are too detail oriented. The intake form does not allow for CONTEXT and puts words in a patient s mouth. These diagnosis are now on our problem lists for every single regular doctor and ER to see.We were told sign this , it just lets us talk to your doctor. We signed it incorrectly without looking into the word not on the HIPPA form. The wrong answers these social workers put on that questionnaire are shared with every single doctor out there.Lawyers in NY and in PA always told us never check the box that says mental health . We did not check the box.We did not read the forms close enough. Please make sure you never listen to a social worker ( paraphrase ) what you are signing. It was a DIMLY LIT room.Maine behavioral Heath is making us download and fill out more forms instead of the specific social workers reaching out to us to clear up misunderstandings. It should be the specific persons helping us remedy this. Instead we must involve many different third parties. It is becoming muddy. If we are lucky, maybe the incorrect answers to the questionnaire will be amended .So far it has been 3-4 months.I do not understand why my child and I could not have a re-do of those questions? Why do the questions provide things that if you give a detailed answer by mistake, because you misunderstood, now it is a permanent mental condition?!!We have to wait and see if the providers will agree to amend when they got our answers wrong in the first place. It disgusts me, & makes me sick.Maine Behavioral Health has done nothing but add more stress to our lives. My blood pressure was up 40 points at my primary care office after discussing how impossible it is to fix this.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Maine is a form of talk therapy. It involves a limited number of sessions during which the therapist helps the client become aware of negative thinking and replace it with positive thought patterns. This in turn helps the individual respond to challenges in healthier ways.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

I've been going to main behavioral health for 8 years. I've had different providers but I've always been treated with respect. I've had the best counselors and I go to groups every week at which are just phenomenal. Everybody really cares about your well-being. I completely suggest that you go here you won't be disappointed.

#HONESTreviews #honestyisthebestpolicyIt takes anywhere if your lucky 3 months, not so lucky possibly 6 months to get your initial appointment if you need to be seen for MM. To get counseling through MBH can take just as long. I personally had a rough experience of being paired with a counselor and she was not knowledgeable in any area I needed to be helped with. I believe they could do a better job at matching clients with appropriate clinical workers. MM, at least in my experience, has exceptional professionals, very well qualified and who really take the time to get to know and work with you so that your needs are correctly taken care of. MBH also has a very well organized calendar of events and classes and group discussions, which cover every aspect you could need to help with your overall emotional, mental, behavioral health and well-being. They also offer these "extras" at both MBH buildings, Biddeford and Springvalle, and also at a place in Sanford. I think that they could make the waiting area in Biddeford look less "institutional" and more warm and inviting and would benefit by having a small kids corner, I see a lot of mothers and fathers alone (including myself) with young children. While the workers all try and mostly do maintain a constant flow of clients in and out, there are times when appointments exceed their limits and if they had a kids area and a more warm setting, especially seeing as it's meant to be a place to help your overall mental health, MBH in Biddeford would be I'm sure in not just my opinion but many others a place where the clients would feel, just by walking in, comfortable and more at ease but also less judged, because let's face it.... Today's society still has a huge stigma on receiving mental health services but if clients felt there was a place like that maybe, just maybe others who also need help would feel that it was ok to ask for this kind of help, without shame and fear. #HONESTreview #MaineBehavioralHealth
