outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Couples therapy in Missouri deals with the problems each partner has within themselves and with each other. Sessions may be held jointly and others individually to address these issues and help each partner learn how to manage challenges in healthy ways.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy helps you overcome addiction by engaging in activities that promote physical fitness and mental health. These activities can include team sports, art, and outdoor adventures, Each of which helps reduce your stress level, improves mood, and develops new hobbies. These are crucial to support your long term journey to sobriety.

Unprofessional from the scheduling to the counseling, and even the billing. The woman handling scheduling sent me a nasty email due to a mistake on her behalf believing I had been a prior patient. Counselor was more concerned with my lack of attendance at church than the sur ... Read More

I felt like this is a scam. I was referred for talk therapy. I spoke with someone who is not a Dr at the end of the day for my first appt and had been looking forward to it. They wanted to go over my meds and I understand that and wanted a quick overview of my life. (Less than a 30 min appt) In this time this person tells me she wants to charge me $250 a visit. No talk therapy. She wants to do a treatment that involves eye movements. I want to talk to someone only! I told her I would consider rescheduling. She scheduled me for another appt. Called me the next week and left a voicemail saying she is worried about me. She also wanted to give me new diagnosis and more.

Can t even get in touch with them to schedule an appointment for my son. We have been trying for over 2 months to get him in. There is no live person to speak with. I work in a laboratory and cannot answer my phone. They always call me back when I am in lab. Terrible customer service!! We have wasted over 2 months when we should have just tried a facility that actually cares

David Burkett is the worst counselor possible. My soon to be ex and I went to him with communication issues and he made all of our issues about sex. He did not listen to what our true problems are and try to help rework them.

Hi, I was referred to Madison Avenue through the KCVA Hospital about 2 years ago. My first impression was that for a mental health clinic it was far from welcoming. In fact, it was just the opposite of what you would want when seeking help. There was no receptionist, there were no windows, there was no "life", you just walked in the outside door and through another door to find the waiting room, which was dimly lit with dark walls. About the only way this environment could be worse for mental health patients is if they added rain.Though my overall thought of the clinic setting was negative my social worker, Marc Walker, was nice, it's just that his style ultimately just didn't work for me and I chose to stop my visits after a couple of months. It has now been over 2 years since my last visit and I still cannot get them to share a copy of my session notes. Marc himself was not helpful and attempting to contact Madison Avenue by phone just gives you options to talk to individual providers. There is no email address and no support at all. I even contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint and after numerous attempts from the BBB trying to contact them over the past 4+ weeks they still haven't replied. In all honesty if you're seeking help for your mental health I would not recommend this place even if you were desperate and debating self harm or harming others. If you are at that point call the Mental Health Hotline or go to the ER. If you're just looking for counseling then PLEASE keep researching and move on from this place.

I have enjoyed the services through my EAP. It was a little difficult getting scheduled because I didn't know to leave my name, DOB, referred through EAP, and reason for appointment to get a call back.

Compassionate mental health care involves listening without judgment until enough information has been collected about the individual to ensure accuracy. So that means leaving out DSM questionnaires about severe mental health issues until a patient has gone through a few sessions, or providing DSM forms to the patient before the first meeting to more accurately gage the presence of anxiety and depression.Long story short, I had just gone through a pretty traumatic experience last October and was trying to explain what happened but the therapist was more interested in diagnosing rather than listening to me (and clearly stated that she was testing for delusions). In reality, I was anxious and uncertain and going through a crisis that was difficult to explain at the time. This made me feel even more invalidated than when I started.I asked about this later on and they said this was standard practice. Something about this doesn't seem right to me, in any case. I think there needs to be better training to ensure that the patient feels understood, comfortable, and listened to before moving into diagnoses. Compassionate care is essential when dealing with mental health, period.

If I could give less I would. Only come here if you want therapy just for funsies. Dont come here if you need true help. You wont get it. Every single appointment the provider is late or they double booked. Multiple weeks in a row now they've double booked and I've gotten brushed by the wayside. I'm at the point where I'm going to charge them for wasting my time.

My husband called today to schedule an appointment. When they called back the lady was rude and disrespectful. My husband explained he wanted to see a certain therapist and was told she wasn t excepting new patients (understandable) but when asked if he could be put on the wait she said the wait was too long. When she explained it was over 10 months and my husband said that was fine he d wait she said NO. I guess it s easier for people to turn to drug then it is to get help. We will be looking elsewhere

So, fun fact. If you WANT therapy and just so happens that you have a probation requiring it, not through the court simply just have to be able to say yea I m going to a court DO NOT let them know. They won t take you AND catch a hell of an attitude explaining this to you as; this is a direct quote from Maddy They don t want to, because they don t want to be involved, and don t WANT to even so much as say to a court that you re going nothing else no details, just that you re getting the help you need. Now, he could ve obtained help from them had he not mentioned it. Strange isn t it?Maybe the court would call and maybe they wouldn t. It s a laxed requirement from another state as we ve found out through some of the other requirements.I guess, had they called, my son would ve had the luxury of being dropped on his face cause at that point they wouldn t want to be involved Way to go Madison Avenue. Real upstanding and caring business attitude you all carry. Bravo
