About Life Changers Outreach – North Carolina Center

Life Changers Outreach - North Carolina Center is a faith-based drug rehab center that helps individuals living in the Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, region. They help both men and women struggling from drug and alcohol addictions. It’s important to note that this is not a “come and go as you please” type center. Their center requires a 12-month commitment for their residential rehab program. Residential care means you’ll be living on-site and abiding by any rules they may establish for your safety and recovery.

This location also offers their Generation Hope program, which focuses on pregnant women and single mothers who are seeking recovery. They look for mothers who are currently transitioning from long-term rehab back to healthy parenting or mothers who don’t have any viable options when seeking babysitting and their only option is potentially losing custody of their child. They also reach out to pregnant women and single mothers who are struggling financially or are coming out of abusive relationships. However, they don’t offer medical care and children must be five years old or younger.

Still, they can provide a safe environment for anyone seeking recovery. During your stay with them, you can expect Biblical classes, parenting & life skills training, and help with finding work. They believe that spirituality is a key component in the recovery process and hope to empower you spiritually and equip you to be able to restart your life successfully and independently. This aspect of their treatment includes Apostolic Gatherings, where all the members of their locations unite for worship, preaching, and teaching.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients who are exiting detox or stepping down from intensive inpatient care typically transition directly into outpatient treatment. Outpatient programs are designed to allow clients to either re-enter or remain in their communities while receiving robust, personalized care. Many facilities offer evening, night, or weekend services to accommodate clients' home and work schedules. The most common outpatient treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer a complete continuum of care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are predicated on the idea that addiction disease is a chronic condition prone to relapse and warranting continuing care. Clients collaborate with their care team and case manager to access the specific rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety. Peer coaching, relapse prevention services, career counseling, and 12 step program induction are common in these programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place have been such a blessing to me change my life.i went through Life Changers a few years ago and the way that God was with the leaders that prayed for me and lead me to the right way of living.Having never known how to live a functional successful life.i know that all their leaders were never perfect and made mistakes but we ALL do. I had such a lack of structure in my life that caused deatruction which lead me to life changers anyway, They are strict and have purpose behind everything they do and when i didnt understand all i had to do is ask and i got some insight.if i wasnt ready to change then i would have had plenty of problems with this place also.I know that God is in this place and will move in your life but only if you want REALLY want it.

This place is a joke. I stayed there 6 days and left. You go fundraising 3 days a week county to county and state to state. They drop you off at Dollar general or Walmart at 7 a.m. and pick you up around 10 p.m.. Then you got about 2 hours drive time to pick up the other 2 crews of 2 that ride with u in a van. Then u go to a hotel where they book 2 men per bed. Which is a dam joke. I'm a grown man. I could go on and on but I will stop hereI have to tell u this though.there where 10 people there. 8 where homeless, one court ordered, and I was the only voluntary one there and left. That should tell u something

**HONEST REVIEW** My husband went here for right over a month and only had to leave due to some mania appearing that did require some medication. He is unable to come off mood stabilizers due to his bipolar disorder, so we are sad since Life Changers does not allow any mind altering meds. From the beginning, they were super nice and prayed for him and over him. He said he loved and respected the men he met in the time period he was able to stay. In that time, God brought him down from SEVEN psychiatric meds daily to ONE!! He also quit smoking!! They fundraising two days a week to raise money so it s free. Praise and worship / sermons brought him closer to God than ever. These people are great people and the program is awesome! We did have a small issue...couple letters written to me I never received for whatever reason. They are extremely strict about violence/cussing etc which I definitely understand. Some people calling them a cult simply did not want to truly get better or they do not fully believe in the Holy Spirit. Some simply just could not quit smoking to enter the program!! I wanted to write this review because we struggled big time trying to find some good reviews online before he went here. We could ve been angry at them because they won t allow him to take one mood stabilizer and go back, but we aren t at all because we see all the good this program does for people!! Even though it would ve been really tough, I wish my husband could ve gone longer!!
