About Liberty Resources Integrated Health Care

Liberty Resources Brownell Center is a treatment facility currently located in Syracuse, New York. This facility provides services to adults who are struggling with substance abuse and dual diagnosis disorders.

While seeking treatment at this facility they offer a multitude of other supporting services including LGBTQA+, peer support, care management, medication assisted treatment, and crisis intervention.

When seeking support that can help provide guidance in your recovery, outpatient treatment can honor that. In the beginning an assessment will be completed to further assist you with the level of care most beneficial for you. An evaluation alongside a treatment plan will be created. During the course of treatment you will be working with licensed clinicians and attend both group and individual therapy throughout the week. What makes this so beneficial is that you’ll have the ability to maintain your daily weekly commitments such as employment or being a caretaker to your loved ones. During therapy healthy holistic skills will be introduced to you to help you utilize them in your everyday life.

Care management services offered here will assist you in developing individualized plans to help you achieve goals and encourage you to remain active in your recovery.

Peer support is another service that provides a space for you to discuss issues that can be impacting your recovery. These trained specialists offer a non judgment safe space to talk and understand due to the shared and relatable lived experiences.

The medication assisted treatment assists individuals who have been experiencing serious discomfort from the use of any mood-mind altering substances. The medication provided helps lessen cravings and withdrawals and will support your focus on your journey of healing.

And as to why they only get one star: So I've only been accompanying my partner at this facility for only a couple of years now and at first, I thought it was beneficial for my partner (as well as helpful for many reasons which I really liked at first), but now it seems like that they don't care about the clients and how they feel, or anything. They seem so unprofessional on not following up on their clients (if they are doing okay or if they don't understand something and calling said client to understand the situation but don't ever really call.) It seems so unprofessional to get annoyed or irritated at a client for coming in to check to see if paperwork (that's very important by the way) get done or not and if not tell people the reason why (or tell different stories). This is not how professional should conduct in a facility like this they should be prioritizing the clients and their feelings first and getting what the client need done first and formost or if something can't get done then call and let the client know about it and sew if something can get worked out. But that is not what is being done. You shouldn't have to lie and do other stuff to just not get stuff done. If stuff needs to be handled then get it done or call. This place is not about their clients and their mental health and their feelings it is sounding like that all they are here for is the paycheck and not the clients and that is so wrong on so many different levels.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a space for clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while receiving intensive supervision and support. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and food and most offer round-the-clock clinical care. Their primary treatment modalities typically consist of addiction counseling using various psychotherapeutic methods, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Many rehabs also provide specialized services for clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Recovery-focused life skills training and holistic therapies are other common services.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients who enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) are typically either in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that increases their relapse risk. These programs promote clients' sustained sobriety through robust support, including multiple, extended care sessions per week. Intensive outpatient treatment often encompasses an array of services, including psychotherapy, recovery education, and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and meditation. Many outpatient rehabs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT).
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox involves weaning your body off of addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. If you've become dependent on alcohol and/or drugs, quitting on your own can be uncomfortable and even dangerous. In medically assisted detox, a team of licensed medical professionals will help manage potential withdrawal symptoms, ensuring that you're as safe and comfortable as possible. This process typically takes about 5-7 days, although the length will depend on your individual needs.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is REALLY bad!! I have left several messages and NOBODY calls back. I tested positive for Covid. I am 60 with very bad lungs you would think they would call back. This place has turned into a place for them to just heard you in bill your insurance. Very sad seeing once they were real good.

I have a great therapist here, Paige, whom I've been seeing over a year and a half...We're just getting into the crucial issues that have made therapy necessary for me, and she's helping me get a grip on the hidden pain, difficult memories, and emotional suffering that remained after a course of CBT with another therapist at a different clinic. CBT is great in some ways but to recover from C-PTSD requires some time spent in regular one-on-one psychotherapy, where trauma is addressed and emotions are released in a safe environment. As much as the CBT at the other treatment center I went to helped me with applying logic to my then out-of-control emotions, it was time for another tactic so that I could complete my journey of healing. This is that continued journey.I'm going to continue my progress here with Paige and am optimistic about my future as I break the lifelong hold past trauma has had upon me.Thank you, Liberty.

I have a primary Dr here, Sud/ psychiatrist here, therapists and care manager. I absolutely love them all. They have all been trustworthy and honest, taking great care of me. They have exceeded my expectations! Rachael, Darren & Hayley are great! And nurse Whitney! All so kind and helpful! Would recommend!

Don t waste your time here. Spent over 8 months waiting for a response back on case management, my therapist kept cancelling my appointments (which is annoying when you have to take time off work to go in person and get a sitter for the kids) and the psychiatrist I saw Haley waited MONTHS to tell me that she still hasn t received medical records and can t prescribe what I ve been taking for years until she reviews it (yet waits until the last possible minute to tell me)The providers and employees there are younger than I am and the sub par care and compassion is mediocre. Do yourself a favor and go to I view or somewhere out of the county
