I am giving Midlakes 5 stars because I believe in the doctors and staff there. They truly care about their patients and are trying to rebuild a place that has not had the best reputation over the years. I give them credit for their efforts and transparency. When I first brought my three boys there last year to see Dr. Mina Girbes I did not expect she would have me in tears in the hallway. She could tell I was overwhelmed and she pulled me aside to say, in essence, "I see you." That meant the world to me.At that time, the wait was long. But the care was what we needed. So we stuck with it.We've since returned two more times, once for a sick visit and once for a well check. The wait was much shorter. Staff were all friendly.Midlakes, we see you and we appreciate all you do for the community.

For a government facility, they handle things so unprofessionally, not to mention rude.

Accepted Insurance

Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center – Midlakes works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Levels of Care

Services in this program include diagnostic evaluation, psychiatric assessment, and crisis intervention to adults who have a history of chronic mental illness. Clients who receive their psychiatric medication services may also qualify for individual and/or group psychotherapy, depending on the type of funding the client has.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
The shared apartment program is supported, transitional housing designed to assist individuals to achieve necessary skills to live independently in the community. CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangements) is a supervised, supportive service to those individuals with severe emotional difficulties who have had at least 3 hospitalizations in a state-operated facility. The goal of CILA is to promote residential and emotional stability through carefully tailored service planning with client, family, significant others and staff of Behavioral Health.

The central task of the Dual Diagnosis Group is to help clients learn more about the interaction between addiction and mental illness, and to help them increase stability in adult functioning through the establishment of sustained sobriety and continued recovery from mental illness. You must be receiving services from at least one of our Behavioral Service programs to be in this group.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

In the DBT Group patients must be involved in individual therapy at the clinic to be in this group. The group uses instructional lecture, group discussion, behavioral rehearsal with modeling and role-play, written handouts, and homework assignments to help you decrease unmanageable issues in your life. Mindfulness skills are central to this group.

Family involvement with treatment, when clinically helpful to a client's progress, is encouraged. Case managers are available to assist families in obtaining the resources necessary to restore balance. They strive to help youth and their families develop positive coping techniques, communication skills and the means to manage mental health issues, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

The Trauma Treatment Program provides services to Lake County residents, ages 2 through 18, who have experienced trauma. Trauma Focused—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidenced-based treatment proven effective in working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT teaches us how to cope with unhelpful or inaccurate thoughts, confusing and overwhelming feelings, and unhealthy or risky behaviors that the experience of trauma many times causes. Topics include: Education about Trauma, Relaxation, How to Identify and Express Emotions.

The quality of services here have really gone downhill. Lately, every time I come in, there is always some kind of issue, or they are way too disorganized to know what's going on. Also, the long waits get longer every day. Very disappointing.

I love the doctors, they re always great with my 2 year old but making appointments is a hassle. My son has a really bad cough and he s had it a few days. They told me there was an appointment today and I called back not even 20 minutes later and the appointment was no longer available. I can t wait until next week for my 2 year old to be seen. So now we re going to have to go to the hospital for him to be seen. Awesome.

Fantastic first visit at this office.I followed Dr. Girbes from her previous practice at Advocate. She has been my son's doctor since he was just 3 months old. She is very patient and kind. She makes sure that all of my concerns are answered before the end of each visit. You can tell that she loves her job and she's very good at it. This clinic is blessed to have her working here. Before my son's appointment, I saw people posted online complaining about the wait time. In preparation for my son's exam, I packed a bag full of toys and his tablet. To my surprise there wasn't much of a wait time. Registration took a little longer, about 10 minutes, but that was understandable since they were training a new employee at the front desk. There was no line behind me since other staff from different areas started to check others in. Once we sat down we waited 3 minutes max.My son was worked up by Daisy and she was the sweetest. She was able to make my son feel at ease and explained what she was doing to him.I highly recommend Dr. Girbes and her staff.

I took my little son to a Pediatrician in this place. I have been looking for a Pediatrician in the Lake social department for some time and it was a difficult task to find a nearby appointment. When I saw the comments on this page I hesitated to attend but out of necessity I was forced to take my son. Two and a half months ago he was diagnosed with Bronchitis in the North Chicago department, and only treated with over-the-counter cough suppressants as medicines, which is why he was getting worse. Three times we took him to the hospital by emergency due to a cough with vomiting and with no solution, because they only ruled out COVID and the flu, and they said it's just a viral and he's going home again. In this place, upon our arrival, Mrs. Perla, an excellent person, very kind, efficient, fast and most importantly, filled you with confidence until you felt that we were in the right place. Then Dr. Mina Girbes treated him, an excellent Pediatrician, she immediately detected his asthma, gave him his treatment, gave us the full explanation of what was happening to the child. She treated us wonderfully, calmed our concerns, was very kind and responsive, and answered all our questions. And Holy Remedy. My son has been on treatment for 3 days, improving every day. And the best thing is that from the first day we went back to sleep in our house, recovering the lost sleep and without cleaning up any more vomit. Infinitely grateful. Oh and the place is very clean and there is education in that place! God Bless Thank you

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!! As many hours as I have waited in this place over the years for care!!! And I'm late once and they want to tell me I have to reschedule when it's already hard enough to get an appointment!!!

I arrived 10 minutes after my appointment they have a 15 minute late policy. They did not want to accept me. They care more about clocking out than a person s health, but then on days they are busy they make one wait more than an hour. Appointments aren t made until 2 months later. For 10 minutes late now I have to wait 2 months.

Terrible service, this is the third time I have contacted to ask for blood pressure medication for my mother, she is hypertensive and they tell me that she hasn't seen the doctor in a long time and that she needs to see her but they give me an appointment in a month and in another clinic. Because in Round Lake there is no doctor and my mother has already been going for three weeks and has not taken the medication. I called on June 30, July 6 and today without any response, I have made an appointment but they have not given me a prescription for k I took the medication until the day of the appointment. The last person who answered me today threatened to hang up on me because he told me that there was no doctor. I told him that he was aware that not taking medication was dangerous and he told me that it was not an emergency and that He was going to hang up on me because there was no doctor. Then he told me that he was going to transfer me to the clinic. He had me waiting for 10 minutes and at the last I got a recording that the clinic was already closed. Very bad service from this person and my mother is a person. 87 years old
