Was admitted into the acute unit in November 2016, and I did not gain anything from being there. It was awful. I didn't speak to the therapists at all, they ignored my medicine prescription which affected me badly, and the facility itself was gross. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I think being here made me worse.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If I could give zero stars I would. MY son was placed in acute care, we were never contacted by the doctor, the nurse and therapist did not relay our concerns to the doctor, our son is being sent home still unstable because their program is a joke.WE had a family session where he was supposed to talk about coping skills he had learned and could not answer a single one without the therapist basically answering for him.He also went into there with severe poison oak and was not given medication. to treat it, so now it has spread and he will have to start the medication all over again due to their negligence. Not only that but was not given his bipolar/ anti psychotic for 2 of his 4 day stay.

I was a patient in 2013.. There I stayed for 7 months.. Visited Acute unit a couple times.. I was jumped by 9 girls in the classroom on my 1st day.. The one staff that was in the room that day, stepped out knowing what was fixing to happen.. My nose was broken, I had 2 black eyes, a concussion & 2 broken fingers.. The staff were very abusive! Physically & verbally! Some staff had their favorites who they let them do whatever they wanted.. The ones who got to do whatever they wanted were the girls on the unit who jumped everybody.. That same staff member drug me out of bed one night & held me down while two other girls repeatedly kicked me in my sides.. There was also a staff member that worked there who had sexual relations with some of the girls on my unit.. He was fired, eventually when the law found out & started investigating after a couple of the girls got out & told their parents.. One of the worst places I've EVER been!! I don't wish that hell on my worst enemy!! I'm 19 now & am doing pretty well for myself! Don't send your child to places like this! Nothing has changed!! I've been to several facilities like this one.. All terrible experiences!!

My daughter has been jumped by other girls multiple times. She had her arms held by staff members while 3 girls repeatedly hit her & ripped her hair out. She wasn't even provided medical attention. The incident happened almost a month ago and her nose still looks broken. The staff talk down to her about her clothes not being good enough & worn out. She is already struggling as it is with losing her stepfather & grandmother, not to mention all the kids her age she has to deal with that are mean. But adults doing there things to kids who are already hurting enough is ridiculous. Every time I try to call my daughter or she tries to call me, there's a crisis on the floor so the kids aren't getting their calls as they should. Tonight, I have been calling my daughter for over 3 hours, to no avail. The first time I was able to reach a receptionist that informed me there was a crisis on the floor so none of the kids could use the phone during that time. Now, NO ONE IS ANSWERING THE PHONE AT ALL WHEN I CALL & THERE'S NOT EVEN AN ANSWERING MACHINE. This has been the status for the past 2 & a half hours. After my daughter being jumped 3 times there, I'm extremely worried. And I can't just hop in my car & drive 2 & a half hours ONE WAY when they won't let me see her & I have no doubt anyone will even be at the front desk considering no one is answering the phones. Something MUST be done about this before something REALLY bad happens to someone's child.

I was visiting my child. During our visit the music which was playing, I would claim to be unacceptable. The reason one and for most is the lyrics. The music was Emmen, and Thanks. The lyrics were discussing of inflicting harm to people and as far as killing. This wasn't censored music for children under the age of 18 years old. This place is to help our children overcome certain behaviors. For example, of wanting to inflict harm to themselves or too others. I informed the staff member to my displeasure for the music. The answer given was that they don't control the music because it was being played in the kitchen area. Regardless who's in charge of the music being played. Explicit language and the promoting of violence in a behavior therapy clinic is unacceptable. I understand we can't control everything in society but in a treatment facility it should be. Allow these children who are in there get the proper treatment and not introduce to this kind of music.

I witnessed abuse to the children staying there by the counselors. The counselor there were verbally abusive and untrained. They were rude and disgusting acting like children themselves.
