About Ken Seeley Communities

Ken Seeley Communities is a drug and alcohol rehab in Acampo, California. They provide residential treatment, outpatient treatment, medical detox, and dual diagnosis treatment for adults.

Residential treatment is a supervised environment with a daily structured program. It begins with medical detox and includes individual, group, and family therapy. Treatment methods include psychoeducation, recreational therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, art therapy, and mindfulness exercises. Length of stay is dependent on the severity of the addiction.

The outpatient program can serve as a step down from a residential program or for individuals who live at home and can attend treatment during the day while still attending work or school. Outpatient programming has a dual diagnosis focus and provides real-life integration, structured support, daily commitments, and community building. Treatment approaches consist of trauma-informed care, psychiatric care, experiential therapies, DBT, CBT, and group and individual sessions.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living homes in California offers an intermediate sober environment that has less structure than inpatient rehab but more than typical home environments. This makes it a good option for those who have concerns about transitioning back to the "real world" after treatment. Residents can typically live at the halfway house as long as they want, if they are willing to follow house rules. These may include a curfew, chores, and maintaining a job.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When an individual is in denial about their substance use disorder, their loved ones may organize a drug intervention in California. This effort involves gently but assertively confronting the individual about their substance use and sharing how it has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist may also attend this gathering. Their expertise with intervention services can prove helpful in guiding the conversation to a positive result.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

The goal of creative arts therapy in California is to encourage growth and transformation. It can be used in individual and group settings with both children and adults. Options include movement, music, and painting.

The use of experiential therapy can be helpful for the treatment of behavioral disorders, including drug and alcohol addiction. This method teaches you how to release negative emotions and cope with pain from the past. Activities such as art, music, and animal care are used to facilitate this process.

I came there at 63: A lifetime of alcohol and addiction. My solution: days before entering rehab, was suicide by cop. Fortunately, a call from a sober friend intervened. Thankfully, I came in willing.I will have 4 years of continuous sobriety on August 2nd.I am forever grateful that I came here. All rehabs are not the same I found out.Thank you for giving me a chance at reclaiming my life

Half of the good reviews on here are from people who work there (Drew, Camila, Cheree). DO NOT be fooled. LaMitchell, who is/was supposed to be running the place, has 0 qualifications other than certifications he s given himself. In my opinion, this place is unprofessional, unqualified, and has zero integrity. Client well-being does not seem to be the priority of management. It appears they are trying to keep their failing business afloat at all costs. There are multiple lawsuits out against them currently. There are many other places in the desert where good help is available.

Please be aware of the lower reviews for this facility, and really for ANY facility like this-or service such as "interventionist". I know that the popular television series makes it look like such a great idea. It is often mishandled, and was often mishandled on that show.Do yourself a favor and find someone who specializes in this, but is willing to explore alternate paths, and ONLY performs these confrontational interventions in very limited and emergent situations. If you are a loved one of someone who is struggling with use, then you most likely are suffering as well. Please find help for yourself from others, there are a lot of support groups (I am not posting specifics, because I am not trying to advertise). Google support for family of alcoholics and addicts-and explore what is available. This facility may be fine, I don't know as I have not been here. What I can say, though, is that it seems like this specific facility is only interested in promoting their own agenda.Often times these confrontational interventions are so harmful. Of course it makes for great television...it is really sensational. It can do much more harm than good. There is a much better way to 'intervene' in someone's addiction. It is not as sensational, and takes a lot more time and patience. Please just look at the other options available....I implore you as someone who has experience in this field.Addendum: Especially since one of the few reviews for this "community" is actually someone from the community itself. Please be a cautious consumer!!Further Addendum: Just because a business looks in its records and does not recognize the person who is posting a review does NOT mean that that person has not had an interaction with said business. I have not used this businesses services, that does not mean that I have not had an interaction with them. I am not going to go into specifics, as that is not what this review is about.I am very aware that what is seen on the television is cut and edited for time, that does not mean that the interventions were all performed as safely and ethically as possible. The very nature of that particular television show, and the myriad of people now advertising themselves in the "intervention" business has gone a long way to giving the public a dangerous view of that practice. That is not the only, or even the safest way to go about helping the people that we love. There are so many better ways to go about doing this.Furthermore this practice has gone a long way to support the stigma that people with the disease of addiction already face. There are a LOT of people who are available across the country who are much better at this practice, and who take the road of patience over sensationalizing.I implore people to do their research before choosing someone....don't just think that because someone has been on television that they are the experts in their field.I am choosing not to contact this business back because I have already been given the spiel, and do not feel like I need that again, thank you.

Response from the owner3 years ago
Good Morning Mary, What you see on the TV show is limited due to entertainment purposes, it's all real, but they don't have time to show every second of the entire process. I can reassure you that there is more to an intervention than what you see on your TV. I also see you ve never had any previous relationship with us before posting your review. I would be happy to schedule a visit or set something up virtually, so you can see for yourself what Ken Seeley Communities is all about. We look forward to hearing from you soon. -KSC

After filling out the form on the main page last night, a gentleman called me within maybe 10 minutes to discuss what I needed. After telling him the story he said he'd text me back with information of what is needed moving forward and then he would call me back, today, at 10:30 am, and I made sure he knew I meant 10:30 my time, central time. Well, I never received a text message from him nor did he call me back. So needless to say, my search continues for a reputable interventionist.
