Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient programs are designed for clients who are medically stable and not at an elevated risk of relapse, including those who have already completed inpatient care. Outpatient programs typically advance clients' established treatment plans, offering continuing addiction counseling and recovery education. Clients who enter outpatient care immediately following detox may also receive medical and mental health assessments and personalized treatment plans. Most outpatient rehabs provide multiple levels of care to align with clients' unique needs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) facilitate clients' sustained sobriety through high-level care aligned with their evolving needs. Clients engage in multiple treatment sessions per week, typically receiving between nine and 20 hours of outpatient care weekly. The frequency and intensity of treatment gradually decreases as clients stabilize. Many intensive outpatient rehabs offer a variety of services, including addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT). Evidence-based complementary therapies are also common.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer customized, wraparound support for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery. Many clients enroll in drug rehab immediately after completing intensive inpatient or residential care. Services encompass outpatient treatment but often extend long beyond the completion of a formal recovery program and typically include a variety of medical, mental health, and social service programs. Peer coaching, relapse prevention, 12 step program induction, and related services are commonly available.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Due to various health issues that substance abuse causes, 24-hour clinical care in Massachusetts is often a necessary part of treatment. Individuals may be suffering from infections, illness, or organ damage. Having 24-hour care available ensures that these physical problems are treated along with the psychological effects of addiction. Once individuals complete detox and are medically stable, this intensive level of supervision ends, and the next phase of treatment can begin.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medically supervised detox is the process of removing addictive substances from your body and managing the withdrawal symptoms in a medically supervised environment. Typically, this is the first step in the recovery process and lasts an average of 5-7 days, though the length can vary depending on your individual needs. Once your system is cleared of alcohol and drugs, you'll likely transition to an inpatient treatment program for the next phase of your recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Great, great place for young men to get back on there feet and a fresh start! The whole program is amazing, staff, facility, especially the food with their own chef cooking! Teachers are exceptional and have experience with special education services. I had been involved with several other facilities before our family got to Center point for young men and was very unhappy with what we went thru, but when we got here this place was 100 percent different and I just don't have enough time for all the good things I can say and the changes it has made in my child's life.

The center point director named Candy is completely interested appropriate to staff. She was my supervisors supervisor and I needed her consult on an issue that happened. I was nervous and began crying in the meeting and she told me Ha you look like a f1cking mess! So rude!

Centerpoint changed our lives for the better! Our families experience at Centerpoint was nothing but positive. We were referred to Centerpoint by the Department of Mental Health after 18 ART/CBAT admissions. I have to admit at first I was hesitant as the program is long term and, no one wants their child away from home for that long. After much deliberation and thought we agreed to the admission. It s not easy to agree to this level of care, often times heart breaking but, we knew our son was suffering and no other treatment seemed to be effective for longer than a few months. It s hard work and you are asked to participate in weekly family therapy where you have to be open and honest and tackle all of the issue which lead to this level of care. My son, my husband and I committed ourselves to this and boy did it work. It wasn t easy, it was emotionally challenging and having to drag up things from the past was less than desirable. We learned how to effectively communicate with each other which was the foundation of our son getting better. If you and your child embrace the program it works! The staff was always very accommodating, kind, caring and well trained. You can tell that they are experts in their field. Each child is different and they made it their mission to learn our sons behaviors and personality so they could make him feel comfortable, safe and that he could trust them.Since discharge our son has thrived socially, emotionally and academically. He has learned to use the skills that were taught at Centerpoint which has effectively ended the vicious cycle of short term hospitalization. When considering an IRTP I would strongly recommend Centerpoint!!

I worked at centerpoint for a long time. We ve had our differences, like most jobs. However, the one thing I know and would put my family s life on, is that these reviews are completely off base (to say the least). We all went to work to help kids who otherwise have no one else to look up to. We collectively put up with more assaultive, disrespectful and bizarre behavior than any humans could ever imagine. These reviews are missing a lot of information. Which is not surprising seeing they are written from extremely unsafe, assaultive people, who if not with us would certainly be in Big boy jail. Not one kid disliked the old res director, Joe. Not one. Nobody. So yes, if you attack multiple people you may have to sit alone. BUT the good news is we have been the only people that care for so many of these guys. No matter what they do to us. We build great relationships with very few grudges. So if you have a child that s main goal in life is not to assault and threaten people daily, I m guaranteeing they will grow at this program.Centerpoint doesn t go door to door and take these kids. They are given them because someone deemed them a danger to society or themselves. Period. And again, I d put my family on the fact that they do the very best they canand are run with compassion, fun and honesty.

The biased commentator Joe is the former residential director of Centerpoint. Joe's administration conferred the highest record restraint rate; he brutalized a great deal of past residents --- the vast majority of whom were minorities that originated from low-socio economic communities deferred there as an alternative to incarceration. If you think prison wardens are bad, you should meet this guy.

Unfortunately zero stars isn't an applicable function. The bombastic and impetuous residential administrators connivingly endeavor to prolong "patient" discharge. Thereby, extenuating municipal subsidization of this insidious Marxist institution. Personnel peruse various infringement upon occupants subjective entitlement to religion, expression, speech, and petition. DMH collectively defers first and fourth Amendment violation allegations permitting further gratuitous impositions and subsequent penalization of said plaintiff. Thus, I contrive that IRTP, such as Centerpoint yield a corrosive influence upon our states youth. Please, you mustn't succumb to the pervasive fear of precarity, and condemn your child to rot in a wretched delinquent facility. I render unto you my perspicacious consult and further instruction, if uncertain as to the severity of your perennial legal predicament.
