About Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center

Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center is an addiction recovery facility in Black Mountain, North Carolina. They are reputed for their quality and individualized care. This is evident from past client’s experience. They provide both inpatient and outpatient care options.

Their inpatient care involves medical detox and acute rehabilitation. Medical detox involves stabilization and 24/7 medical monitoring by trained physicians. This takes place in their acute care unit. This unit is staffed by an interdisciplinary team that provides medically supervised detox services for substance use patients. They also offer psychiatric stabilization for patients with co-occurring mental health disorders.

You’ll typically transition to their acute rehabilitation services after detox to undergo the main therapy. This service involves intensive therapy sessions, classes and activities. These are designed to help you understand addiction and the impact of co-occurring mental health disorders on your wellbeing. The facility offers various educational resources and tools to begin your recovery journey.

You may transition to their outpatient program at discharge. They may also refer you to local mental health providers or self help groups for continuing treatment. Their outpatient program comprises mainly peer support services before admission and after discharge.

A certified peer support specialist will contact you once you’re approved for admission into the facility. They’ll provide supportive services and connect you to community resources that can streamline your early recovery efforts. This specialist will also offer you ongoing support for 30 days after your outpatient treatment. It goes without saying that they play a key role in your recovery journey.

Your specialist will help you build motivation and resilience in your own journey by sharing their lived recovery experiences. They can also accompany you to recovery support meetings and connect you to community resources for essential services. These include healthcare, food and housing as well as employment, educational support and financial assistance. Comments from past clients reflect an overwhelmingly positive experience and exceptional quality of care.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in North Carolina offers structure and support to help individuals maintain sobriety. The home is free from substances and offers 12-step programs, individual responsibilities, and mutual support with others in recovery. This setting can provide a lifeline as individuals strengthen recovery skills and prepare to reenter mainstream society. Most residents remain in a men's or women's sober living home for six months or more.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

A medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive drugs and alcohol from your body. A team of licensed medical professionals will look after you 24/7 to monitor your health, help minimize discomfort, and provide medications if necessary to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms. This process is typically the first step in your recovery and may take around 5-7 days, although length will depend on your individual needs.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy in North Carolina helps you during drug and alcohol addiction recovery by engaging you in activities that support your physical and mental health. Sports, arts, and outdoor adventures give you positive experiences that help replace substance use and help you develop healthy habits and a support network.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

The staff here is absolutely amazing . This treatment center saved my life. Even though it is state funded the view on the rehab side was beautiful. My detox was taken care of appropriately, and my mental health was then stabilized. After I got to the rehab side I was given ... Read More

The staff is incredible!! They really care about you and want you to get better. If someone relapsed it was due to their own choice not the staff's. Really recommend this place.

It s been several years since I took the ADTC way, and I needed/wanted to go three separate times, a couple years apart, however, I m not ashamed, I just couldn t quite get it together and stay together for more then nine months. Unfortunately around nine months was the relapse number for me. But the Miracle finally happened ! I ve been clean and sober for around 7 years and I love it ! Not only the REAL me is back, but a better me ! ADTC , the first trip was scary at first, real scary .but it definitely didn t take long to find real understanding and compassion without judgement. I describe ADATC as a college for recovery, and it s set up very similar. You have dorms, classes , gym and a cafeteria. They taught me how to live again ! You have Absolutely nothing to lose, but your life ..Make the right choice, it works IF you work it !! Blessings.

Full disclosure-Keep in mind that once you put your information out there, you may not be able to undo it. But If you decide to go, PLEASE CAREFULLY CONSIDER what you sign when being admitted because the facilities are state funded. Accepts most insurances. If you don't have insurance, there's a reduced rate. That said, recovery is so important for those who need it. This place is in a beautiful setting with mostly caring professionals. Find the ones who care because the ones who care want to help people who want to help themselves find a better way forward.

Absolutely LOVE ADATC! From the facility itself to the awesome staff, I can confidently say that this program along with the the great team of people running it have saved my life. My last stay was cut short due to some issues with the gas lines on site but I am patiently waiting, SOBER may I add, on the phone call telling me to come on back so I can continue my journey of recovery. The people that work here are angels! They re so sweet and they actually care about you. They do anything and everything in their power to make sure you re comfortable during your stay. I have been to a couple other places like this and always left immediately. If you re struggling with addiction, don t be afraid to give them a call and see what you need to do to check yourself in. They really try their best to make detox a breeze. They will give you medication to help with withdrawal symptoms and for any other symptoms you may have. Like anxiety, nausea, not being able to sleep, etc. It really does help. They only things I wish they had was a TV or radio in each room. It would help distract your mind a little bit but they have a couple TVs in the main room. Along with coloring pages, crayons, markers, books to read, 1 radio in another section you re allowed to go outside at certain times and they have NA & AA meetings and speakers that come to help give you encouragement. You have more freedom when you finish detox and go to the rehab side. They have a cafeteria you get to go to, a huge gym where you can play basketball etc, and different classes you can take all day long. If you need help, this is your sign to get it!
