inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to the mental health treatment. Their inpatient treatment provides a safe environment for residents to recover. The staff include psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, counselors, and case managers. Additionally, ECT is provided on a case by case basis.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. It is a more intensive short-term treatment than outpatient programs. Clients attend from 9 am to 4 pm daily to the campus.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The detoxification treatment length of stay varies depending on the individual needs. The treatment also include medication management, individual counseling, family counseling and aftercare planning.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When you enroll in drug rehab in Virginia, a treatment plan is designed by professional staff in order to help you overcome drug addiction and modify addictive behaviors. This may include evidence-based treatments, group and individual therapy, and relapse prevention.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

medicare iconElectroconvulsive Therapy

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I don t like it. They don t care at all about their patients. Everything is basically a paper game, and they re checking administrative boxes with no impact.I ordered a copy of my records and the doctors there put all these garbage comments and then whatever I said was in quotes denoting incredulousness. Can t really take arrogance out of the game.

Food service in the hospital are the worst. Wrong orders mostly all the time and rude with the patients . Including the personal English or Spanish speakers work in the same way. Is a shame for a Hospital.

Probably the worst hospital in the country. I have 4 kids so yes I come to this hospital a lot. I never ever had a pleasant experience here the only reason I came here is because it s like 5 minutes away from where I live .

This was our first time using this hospital. We had a phenomenal experience with all staff from security and admin teams, nursing staff, and our physician, Dr. Place. My 2 year old required stitches on her lip. All the nurses took their time to be caring and kind, and went above and beyond despite it being very busy. Even those who weren t assigned to her care team took the time to make conversation with her. When my baby was scared during the procedure, Dr. Place and our nurse were incredibly patient, caring, and knowledgeable. Couldn t have asked for a better experience. I hope we never need to use a ER again, but if we do, I trust them to take care of my family members.

So this hospital took 25 minutes to pick up the main line number. That s ridiculous for a HOSPITAL. Especially at 8am on a Saturday. Do better inova, hire the right staff

Today 08/23/2024, my son is treated there in the pediatric wing and we ordered breakfast by phone BEFORE 8:30 AM and I was told that that it will take about 1 hour, and now it's already PASSED 10:45 AM and we still didn't get our breakfasts (my son haven't been eaten since 2 PM the previous day). The kitchen keep saying that "it's coming"Talking about VERY BAD SERVICE.

I wanted to shout out Brittany in the ER department on August 18th. She is a keeper and must be protected at all cost!Everything she did was above and beyond with nothing but pure kindness. She made me feel so comfortable and made me feel safe in good hands. Her knowledge and communication with each step was impeccable.Brittany is a genuinely kind person and is everything someone in the medical field should be. Very mindful, very demure

Our recent experience was incredibly stressful and frustrating, particularly during a time when my family needed support and communication the most. My spouse and I brought our child in for a procedure that required anesthesia, and while we understand the importance of safety protocols, the way the situation was handled left much to be desired. After my spouse accompanied our child as they went under anesthesia, we were both escorted to a waiting room. What followed was a prolonged period of complete isolation, with no updates or information about our child s condition. As parents, the lack of communication was agonizing. We were left in the dark, unable to ask questions or receive any reassurance. This created an overwhelming sense of anxiety and helplessness that could have been easily alleviated with even minimal updates.Seeing our child go limp as the anesthesia took effect was an emotionally jarring experience for my spouse, and being separated from them afterward only compounded our stress. The hospital staff seemed indifferent to the emotional toll this took on us. We felt completely isolated and unsupported, with no way to find out what was happening with our child. It is difficult to understand why there isn t an observation room or some alternative arrangement where parents can stay informed and feel more connected to their child s care. The policy of limiting parental presence might be based on logistical reasons, but it doesn t consider the emotional needs of the family. This one-size-fits-all approach is not only outdated but detrimental to the well-being of those involved. While I have no doubt that the medical staff are skilled professionals, the overall experience was severely lacking in compassion and communication. Hospitals should be a place where families feel supported and informed, not isolated and ignored. I sincerely hope that this feedback is taken seriously and that policies and communication practices are revised to better serve the needs of families during such critical times.

My 2 1/2 year old grandson awoke Monday morning unable to bear weight on one of his legs. A trip to the pediatrician led to a trip to Inova for X-rays. Now, two full days later, there has been no X-ray read out, no film transferred to the pediatrician and no progress in diagnosing or healing my grandsons leg. He still cannot bear weight on it. We don t know if it s a knee injury, a hip injury, or something else altogether. This is completely unacceptable and cruel.

I came on July 4 of this year 2024My husband and my family brought me urgently because the hospital Sentara did not give me the necessary medical attention. Here even the attention of the security guards is excellent!!All the staff at the Inova Hospital treated me excellently, I have no complaints; On the contrary, I am grateful they gave me many medical tests, they took their time to check me and give me blood tests and medicine for my infected leg. But I found out that they have vascular surgeons and a specialist didn't treat me, I'm still worse, I think it wasn't a good idea to come to the emergency room, that's the bad thing about not having information I think they didn't know exactly what I had here either. The cream that the Dr. prescribed for me. At Sentara Hospital I did NOT like it on the contrary it made the opening of my sore wider
