Drug Rehab Centers in Forest Park, Illinois

Stayed here for 5 days. My mom was concerned when she looked up reviews but all in all my stay helped me and was relatively good for my mental health and health in general. I landed here after waiting at my local hospital for over a day trying to find placement. I arrived via medi-car late on a sunday and had my vitals checked and blood drawn. My intro to everything was a woman opening a door to a room and pointing at a bed saying that was mine.The following morning was very awkward because I had no clue what was going on. I thought we had to stay in our rooms so I was surprised when I found out there was a day room. From there I met with a therapist first I believe and then I met with my psychiatrist who was amazing. Dr. Sami ftw. I've seen a few people mention Dr Goldberg being awful and from what I heard from patients who have him as a doctor I have to agree. He was extremely relatable and very easy to talk to. I actually felt more at ease speaking to him than I did to my own wife. I can't thank him enough for what he did.I got started on numerous new medications to help my mental and physical health. They do have medical doctors as well as psych doctors and I got on medication for my high blood pressure that my primary kept saying he would address "later." The nurse here said I was probably well on my way to a heart attack with how high it already was. All in all while here I got my vitals checked probably 20 times. 5 blood draws to check for the effect of new meds.. and 2 ekg's.As far as the stay I was in 2s outh? East? I'm not sure actually. Room 259. The staff honestly for the most part were wonderful. Benjamin was a clear stand out as he really seemed to care about everyone. I saw other patients have very big problems with staff but a lot of these seemed to result from their releases being moved or something similar out of the control of the actual staff here. I find it weird to say but I "did my time" attending every group and trying to be as cooperative and helpful as I could. I did get "in trouble" two times here. I asked an employee if they had any books I could read and was given access to a room by the nurses station that had a book shelf. I picked a couple of books that I read through quickly so I turned those back in and went back for more and one of the books that was on there was a really heavy hard covered art book. I carried that book around for 2 days before a staff member noticed it and asked me why I had a weapon. I get that it could have been dangerous but literally I was told I could pick any books on the shelves. The second time I got on trouble was when I took the remote for the TV in the day room and shut off a movie that was going to auto play. A staff member told me I shouldn't have the remote without permission and I said I was just stopping the auto play and she said it would have been fine because it would have just played the next movie. But again the next movie was a graphic movie.Food. besides breakfast.. was actually decent most of the time. I think I only liked one breakfast and it was bagels and cream cheese. Worst breakfast was grits which was given to us lukewarm. I got my blood drawn that day on so I knew the trays had been sitting since before 715 when I got my blood draw because I had seen them. Every meal is served with milk. Breakfasts included some sort of fruit and usually a juice. Lunches were completely reasonable. Dinner was obviously the highlight and we were given a choice. The only lousy dinner I ate was "meat loaf" which turned out essentially be Salisbury steak.I felt in danger one time my entire stay and it was after another patient had gotten. Bad news on the phone. He was in the day room afterwards staring at people. He looked at me for several minutes but I just kept looking down and he wound up moving to the next person and from there was told to go to his room. I reported it to staff the next day ..night staff members were out of the room.This place helped me immensely.

This is a fantastic ministry providing hope.
