This is the worst hospital I ve ever experience. My daughter is on there on their psych unit in the way that it is ran up there is disgusting for over 20 minutes she was sitting there with chest pains. No one helped her I had to scream and act out for her to get assistance. The nursing supervisor was very rude and the nursing staff need new nurses . I would never refer Huntington Hospital to anyone. If you have loved ones, don t bring them here. And that one I had to put because they wouldn t allow me to post this, but if it was up to me, they would ve got a zero. Ur

Can't find an iv for nothing then when asked for medication I rang the bell for over an hour and all they did was cancel it . Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Men and women receive emotional support from their peers during group therapy sessions. These are typically people who face the same struggles that you do. This exposure fosters a sense of camaraderie and community while reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness that often accompany addiction.

Even though I had to wait, I received excellent care when I went to the ER. The doctors and the staff were wonderful, very caring and professional. I also liked how clean the place was. Thank you all for your service and dedication, I'm better now.

BEWARE of the incompetence at HUNTINGTON HOSPITAL! They sent a man in his 80 s with COVID, hospital contracted pneumonia and Sepsis into surgery! He was transferred to another NORTHWELL Hospital .. incredible NEGLIGENCE .. all because they couldn t be bothered to read his medical reports or follow through with the team at their same system hospital!End result .. he died as a result of receiving anesthesia while having all of the other hospital induced sicknesses! Be especially careful with the nurses and doctors on the ORTHOPEDIC floor as well as the visiting specialists such as pulmonologists and cardiologists. They clock in and clock out without any communication or general care of patients. DRIVE into the city if it s not an emergency and spare your loved one s life!!

Had shoulder replacement surgery there last Wed Oct 9th and couldn't be happier with whole experience. From easy registration to discharge a wonderful experience. Dr. Trasolini was awesome but that i detail more about him on his site. I stayed until Sunday due to prior medical history. The nurses Carissa,Caitlan, Lauren, Jennifer and Jisrha never seemed putout at any request and consstantly checked on my comfort and pain levelThe aides Cristina, Jose and Robert all answered call bell immediately and were more than accommodating for any request and the young lady that cleaned Luisa ALWAYS had a big smile and hello. Huntington Hospital you should be proud of these WONDERFUL PEOPLE ON 2 NORTH and would highly recommend this hospital to ANYONE

Most staff are ok there, but watch out for one of the older icu/ccu doctors. That guy has no empathy and will start yelling at family members if they want to make an informed decision together. Ask for a transfer if any of your family members end up there.

I'm giving one star, because I believe there are good people working there. Unfortunately the day I was brought in after my car accident, I received no care from a nurse that was assigned to me (Adrianna). She was called in for a procedure and came back 3 hours later with discharge paperwork. She never cleaned out my bloody hands nor bandaged my cuts, never looked if my x-ray results had come in or not. Doctor and the nurse saw me for 1 minute initially as I was brought in by ambulance and I never saw them again. Even 3 hours later no one had read my x-ray results. I was told to log into the portal later that day to view if I had any broken bones.Luckily, after laying in the hallway over two hours, I asked lovely RN Jowell, who went out of her way to help me out. She was only one from the whole staff to check in on me (once again after I asked). Also want to mention volunteer Bob, who was kind enough to get me a glass of water. While I was waiting for my ride, I also observed that there were no wheelchairs at the emergency exit to bring several elderly people that arrived.I heard bad reviews about Huntington Hospital but never fully believed, until now. I would suggest staying away if you can from this facility and go to another hospital if you have a choice.

My mother fell going into an elevator (at a Northwell facility) and broke her arm. She was taken by ambulance to Huntington Hospital. I met her there minutes after and for the first hour and a half they would not let me see her. Not while she was in triage or while she was taken to get x-rays and CT scans. I had to wait in the main area for all that time. My mother is 79 years old. I am her health proxy and should have been with her the entire time since she arrived in the ambulance. Her main complaint was the pain in her arm, when she came into the treatment area she did not have any type of a sling to immobilize that arm. Once there, they had her in the hallway, in front of an empty room. This room was empty the entire day while we were there. She asked for pain medication again but did not get anything for hours. All we were told was the order had to be put in. I don t know why it never came. The orthopedic doctor came to stabilize and cast her arm. He asked for pain meds too and still no one came. She was screaming out in pain while he was casting it before a nurse came running over and gave her meds. This whole experience was 100% unacceptable. I would NEVER recommend this hospital. Unfortunately we had no choice since the accident happened a mile away.

Horrible waiting time to get discharged from ER, had to wait for Dr from dept that did the surgery a month prior. Nurses had no idea how to get a hold of the Dr . I don't believe that they were busy since when we were here for surgery not one Dr ever came to see any patients at 2 am! You can't leave without seeing this Dr or it will be against medical advice and insurance will not cover visit! They hold you hostage with no regards to how people who traveled an hour to get here will get home. We are not young and it's now 3:30.

My wife came to the emergency room today. All of the personnel were friendly and caring. My one complaint is the amount of time it took. We were in the waiting room for an hour and a half, we were in the ER for an hour and a half till we saw a doctor. My wife then had two tests, CT scan and a sonogram. We have now been here for six hours. I will update this once we get to leave.
