Last Tuesday I went to the hospital with my son, since he is a patient at the hospital, he has scoliosis and syphosis, and he. Some extra bones had come out and he couldn't be sitting, in the emergency they took some plates and the doctor who was in the emergency room told me that the plate looked something strange and that it was possibly an ostochondroma tumor, my son is a survivor of it and had already had it in January. Removed a tumor. The case went to neurosurgeons and they told me that the orthopedics were going to have the baby and that that day at noon Dr. Guzmn was going to see himThe nurses go down to my son to the orthopedic area, there they ask him for a piece of paper, what will it be, and at that moment an employee comes out to ask us in a bad and unprofessional manner what we were there in front of my son. As a mother, I explained to her that she continued to disrespect us. I left her. And she left and looked for the area supervisor who was just as unprofessional as her employee. When the nurses arrived, they started arguing in front of my baby.My son was never seen by an orthopedist and we had to go without them evaluating my son.We had to put pressure on an orthopedist to come up and evaluate the case so that it remained the same. Knowing that there was a suspicion of an ostichondroma tumor, the doctor did not send him to do any more in-depth study. Guzmn indicated that he was safer in nene shiners childrensThey discharged him knowing that there was a suspicion of an ostochondroma tumor and I was worried about that.

We went for a programmed surgery for my son. After the surgery he was sent to PICU. The doctors, residents and nurses in PICU are great. Their attention to the patients and their family is awesome. I hope that my son does not have to go again to surgery but if he does I know that he will be in great hands in PICU.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I took my two-year-old son last Sunday with abdominal pain and a high fever. We arrived at 6pm and at 9pm they took care of us. The child still had a fever and an hour later they gave him medication. The only thing they did to him was a covid and influenza test, the child had a distended stomach and I asked them to do an analysis to see what was happening to him and nothing, they simply said that it could be any virus, I cannot explain to you the courage I had to see my child like that At 2.40am they discharged us without a result or anything, I took my child home and then to the San Juan Municipal Hospital (I RECOMMEND THEM ONE AND A THOUSAND TIMES) the care given to my son was spectacular

The experience started well. They sent him to do a series of tests and laboratories and that is where the odyssey began. We have been waiting for more than 8 hours and no one knows anything. The excuse is that they are changing shifts but that was more than two hours ago. If you have another option DO NOT come to this hospital.

The treatment is excellent, the nurses and doctors treat the children with compassion and care, few hours of waiting compared to other emergency rooms for children.

My recent experiences with doctors and hospitals in Puerto Rico have been mostly negative and my expectations of this hospital were extremely low. That being said, my daughter was transferred to this hospital because she needed surgery to repair a broken elbow that could not be performed at the hospital we originally took her to.I'll start with the negative points to get out of them. In my opinion, the positive outweighs the negative.1. The building and rooms need maintenance and are dated.2. The parking fee is a scam, period. They charge $2 an hour with no daily limit. That means $48 a day for people who can't always afford it. Unless you can find an alternative to not leaving the car there, which is not always possible. Now to the positive. From the moment we arrived by ambulance, my daughter was greeted by professional staff who treated her with empathy and care. Maybe we were lucky that it was a quiet night, but the ER area was clean, quiet, and organized. We never feel forgotten. The doctors and nurses came frequently and constantly informed us of the next steps. My daughter was moved to a room on the surgical floor relatively quickly. All of the nurses on this floor were excellent and provided wonderful care before and after surgery. At one point, the bathroom toilet spewed water all over the floor. Without being asked, the nurse said she would move us to another room and she did so within 15 minutes. When we called, they always came. They helped keep my daughter's pain to a minimum and when one medication wasn't enough, they went to the doctor and gave her what she needed to feel comfortable. When it was time to return home, we were told that my daughter would be discharged before noon and by 10:30 am we were leaving. The process was quick and simple.Since we left, my daughter has told us several times that if she ever has to go to the hospital again, we should take her to the "good" hospital and I agree. I trust all the doctors and nurses who were in some way a part of my daughter's surgery and care and while I hope we never have to do it, I would take her back in a heartbeat.
