So I just want to make this clear that the housing facility where you stay at night has nothing to do with hopes horizons center the classes you go through during the day. The classes and the structure and the staff at hopes horizon are great you learn so much about yourself and your addiction while you stay there. On the other hand the housing is a joke I understand that for some people that might be their last resort is they have nowhere to go so they had to go to their housing okay but let's be clear. When they say they provide food they provide ramen noodles and donations that they get from food pantries. Now they do drop off food as often as they can they'll say once a week but mind you there's 10 to 12 people and some of these houses and six eggs one gallon of milk and a box of ramen noodles for growing men going through detox and women I think is just crazy. So let's be clear on this website that you need to bring your own food your own everything you're just going to have a bed to sleep in. Another thing if you're going through detox with 90% of the people are it is not a place to detox at those houses you do not have nurses at the house the only time you see nursing is at the center. So you will be going through withdrawal for a day or two and you will have to wake up at 7:00 in the morning to be able to catch the van to take you to the center before 9:00 which you'll be sitting there early going through your withdrawal. Another thing you have to go to your classes why you feeling horrible don't encompass meds are going to give you is maybe a clotidine and a hydroxyzine if you're trying to get put on the Suboxone for the maintenance you'll be able to get on that but you got to wait 74 hours for any fentanyln our opiates to be out of your system. Some houses you will have to walk to meetings because they don't provide the transportation so that's another thing. The housing long story short just sucks it's basically the bottom and the barrel basically you have a bed to sleep in for your 21 daysou there take it how it is you signed uphis s*** so you cn't complain. But again when it comes to hopes horizon center. Staff is great they are really there for you to try it our hardest to do anything possible for you like they understand that there's no food at the house is so they'll try to go out their way just to Uber eats you food to the center so you can take to the house stuff like that. They take you to the gas station everyday when you leave the center to make sure you can get cigarettes and stuff like that because once you get to the house you can't leave. But from the sweetheart Hunter at the reception desk all the way to the big Viking looking guy Nick wanted a text everybody there is there for your best interest and we'll go above and beyond for you so as far as IOP and tent outpatient where you go home and then you just go to the meetings or group during the day this place is great I give it five stars.

Hi Anthony, thank you for your review. We want to let you know that your input matters. We would like to clarify a few things, as there seems to be some confusion. Hopes Horizon has two levels of care, outpatient and residential. Our clients in outpatient level of care, are referred to housing provided by certified sober living facilities. Most of our patients entering Into outpatient care, are coming to us with just the clothes on their backs. These sober living facilities, do not receive any type of funding and rely solely on donations from the community for food etc however Hope s works in partner with a few non- profit organizations to help our patients retain government assistance with food while they are in the treatment. We are in the process of growing our inpatient residential program and are hoping these issues will be nonexistent in the future. We are so sorry you had a bad experience and we wish you the best of luck. We strive to provide the best care possible

DO NOT COME HERE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. This site is filled with nothing but fake reviews I m sure this one will get deleted. I went there going through fentanyl and benzo withdrawal and they made me detox off benzos COLD TURKEY without a nurse or medical professional ever present at the house. It s not even a treatment center, it s a tiny old house in Baltimore where drugs are very closeby. Not only that, I had a healing wound and the place was so dirty I got STAFF AND MERSA and they wouldn t even take me to a wound care dr so I had to AMA and go get the treatment myself. The place was so disorganized, one time a tech while she was leaving the room for a few min, left the med drawer unlocked/open and told me (someone who s not even 2 weeks sober) to watch over it and make sure the new girl didn t get into the drawer. I can t believe this place hasn t been sued and is still in business. They also made me walk to a meeting like a mile away a few days a week in 20 degree weather with an infected leg. This place is a complete and total joke and a liability and needs to be shut down!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab enables clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while living in a highly structured and supportive environment. Inpatient treatment is typically designed for clients who have just completed detox, are in early recovery, and/or are at an elevated risk of relapse. Their treatment generally involves intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family counseling. Many inpatient rehabs also offer recovery-focused life skills training and/or holistic therapies, such as yoga, massage, and meditation.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. For those needing additional structure and support in their early recovery, Hope’s Horizon offers a 12-week Intensive Outpatient program. In addition to two meetings with their Primary Counselor, a patient engaged in IOP services will typically participate in 3-hour group sessions for at least three days per week.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs provide accessible peer coaching for participants at all stages of their recovery journey. Meetings are peer-led, anonymous, free, and available multiple times per day in most communities. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected sponsor. 12 step recovery is based on spiritual principles, which enable participants to understand their disease, accept responsibility for their choices, and relinquish control over that which is unchangeable. Religious affiliation isn't required and specialized formats are available.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Most sober living homes in Maryland are located in peaceful, quiet neighborhoods. These private residences are designed to offer a low-stress but structured environment where residents can focus on their ongoing recovery efforts and receive support to maintain sobriety. Several individuals, all of whom are in recovery, share the halfway house. This type of communal living helps decrease relapse, increase employment rates, and helps individuals hone their recovery skills.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Following assessment, Hope's Horizon staff will establish an individualized medication protocol for individuals with Alcohol and/or Benzodiazepine Detox. Patients admitted to their detox program remain on-site for several hours, so that their trained medical staff can monitor their symptoms and make as-needed adjustments to their medication regimen. In their detoxification process, someone may experience more severe withdrawal symptoms or present with heightened medical concerns

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Hi David, sorry you feel that way. We try our hardest to give the very best care to our clients. We have the nicest residential licensed housing in the county. Was there something that we could do better? I m not saying your argument is irrelevant, we just want some clarity and possibly some input on what we could do better? Thank you and have a nice day.

I was in Hopes Horizon almost 5 years or so ago. I can say it was the best program I was in. And I was in a lot of them for about 18 months during my period of addiction. The staff were always great, patient and all the houses were spotless. I m not sure how it is financially now for clients, but it was hard for me to make the housing payments because I couldn t find work. Maybe that s changed a bit now though? It was the only program that I truly feel really helped me a lot. I ve been clean almost 5 years now and will always be grateful for this agency.

I m writing this review for a close friend, as they do not want any backlash. They went to this facility for detox / treatment & they had what they thought was a food relationship with most of the staff but felt like that was just a show since they left they haven t heard back from a single sole!l Their main complaint though and what they REALLY want people to know and think about is the detox process. This is not an individualized process first and foremost! The providers offer everyone 2 medications (clonidine and hydroxyzine) and you will NOT receive medications until that evening no matter when you do your intake and possibly not until the next or following days. You also are not given any time to just detox! You are required to come to the center each and every day so be prepared to be sick and riding in an overfilled van with a ton of others while sick! You are required to sick in group all day while sick and walk to NA meetings almost every evening, while sick! They also really push suboxone and they did not go to detox to have to go through detox again and if you refuse that medication, you will lose your other medications often referred to as comfort medication. You do not have full access to any medical professionals as your house manager who is also in recovery and sometimes only 6 months clean or on maintenance themselves, have full access and control of your medications. You can only see a non-compassionate nurse once a day while at the center and only the first couple days. The providers are kind and compassionate but they don t see you in person, only via video calls and they don t seem to have a lot of control or possibly a lack of understanding which happens in many places unfortunately. Just be prepared and they do say ambulatory detox services which technically means outpatient detox but they should consider changing how they work their detox procedures because this is almost every addicts worst nightmare! Not many folks in withdrawal can cook, clean, ride around, sit in a chair all day, wait for hours for minimal medications. Everyone should know what they re getting into. Don t be fooled because almost every company like this only cares about the money.

Response from the owner8 months ago
Melissa, thank you for posting your review. One thing that you need to understand is, the Dr. sets the protocol. Just because you have another Dr. that prescribes medication, doesn t mean that our Dr. will feel comfortable prescribing them to you. Most people are on many medications when they come in and some of them are narcotics. There isn t a treatment facility that will allow you to keep using narcotics when entering a program. Second, this is an out patient program so your friend could always live at home or with another family member or friend during this process. The fact that they want to stay in our housing means that you you may not have many other options. When living under our roof, you follow our rules. If you do not like the way we structure our program, you can always stay at home or wherever you were living before you came in. We provide a stable living arrangement, food and transportation to get you through your day. I hope your friend finds what they are looking for in a program that allows the client to run the staff.

Hope's Horizon saved my life without a doubt. I came to them alone, hopeless, and broken with no worldly possessions. They lifted me up until I was able to stand on my own. I have since completed their program, and was hired as a PHP house manager for them. Shortly after they hired me as a Behavioral Technician. I have since been promoted to the position of Clinical Aide and I am able to help all the clients who are striving to better themselves and their lives through sobriety & this program. I spend my days full of gratitude and try to help as many lost souls as possible. I will be forever grateful to this establishment, and the employees who make it the incredible life saving portal to sobriety that it is.Their new client intake times are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. until just before 3:00 p.m. They do NOT accept new clients (intakes) over the weekend unless special circumstances require a client entering the program from a hospital or other state facility.

Alright, here goes: Brace yourself for some brutally honest feedback. Sorry, but not sorry. It's crystal clear that I wasn't the only one feeling like a walking dollar sign during my time as a patient there. None of the staff seemed to have a clue about professionalism. Instead of listening to constructive criticism and striving for improvement, you all defended the lousy structure you had going on. Look, I'll give credit where it's due your resources were adequate. But compassion? Taking things seriously? Not so much. I get it, it's a job, but these are people's lives we're talking about here. I had hoped for a bit more heart and dedication beyond just collecting a paycheck. Now, I can't vouch for the current state of affairs, so let's be fair. If you're reading this review, know that it reflects an experience from a few years ago. Hopefully, since then, you've managed to pull your act together and make some serious improvements. Fingers crossed, because nobody wants to feel like a cog in a money-making machine.

I m sorry your stay wasn t a pleasant experience for you. We hope the best for you wherever you choose to go. I would like to speak on the behalf of Hopes, The housing has new clients every week. The clients need to take responsibility for their actions. 1st you should not be keeping food on the floor in the first place. That s what s causes bugs and mice. Also when clients sneak food into their bedrooms that causes pest problems too. Yes there was a week or two where we had to bring in an exterminator, at least we saw a problem and acted on it to get it resolved. As for clients not getting along with some of the employees, that s usually because someone is not doing what they are supposed to be doing. At hopes we love and treat our clients with total respect and go far and beyond to keep them happy. Theres not many places that help struggling addicts where it s gonna be a cake walk. Most people here in the beginning are going through withdraw and detox so they are not in a great mood in the first place. Again we are sorry for your poor experience, I would like you to consider what I said and understand we help hundreds of people a year before leaving us a one star review. It s a tough job and we love doing it!

Hope's Horizon was my 2nd rehab in a year, not that I'm proud to say that. But the staff was amazing and really cared about clients succeeding in their rehabilitation. I spent about 7 months through the rehabilitation process doing PHP, IOP, and then 3.1.After all these months of work I was able to find a great job and get my own apartment for the first time in my life. Just me and no one else. I love Hope's and appreciate everything g they have done for me.Big shout out to Brian and Geoff, who helped me with anything I needed along the way. I couldn't have done it without everyone at HH, but especially those too. They are partnered with the Torsch foundation and they are all amazing people but Miss Emily was my case worker and is absolutely amazing. She has gone above and beyond to help me with everything I needed the whole way through, like Brian and Geoff.Highly recommend this place to get your life back on track.Thank you Hope's Horizon and thank you Torsch foundation. I wouldn't be here without y'all.
