God I hope things have changed here. My kiddo, an adult now, was held here for a couple weeks in the early 2000s. It was a mixed-gender group, and they were offered nothing in the way of education. For some reason, there was a rule that the blinds had to be kept closed. My kiddo told me about standing in a certain spot for hours so she could see out the small sliver where the blinds didn't exactly meet the window frame. For something to do, she would watch construction on a building across the way. She disclosed to me much later that a boy had come into her bedroom and tried to have sex with her, so the sleeping arrangements were clearly unsafe for children. My daughter was 16 at this time. She reported also that children eloped regularly--so the supervision was obviously also lacking. I'd like to believe if I'd known this back then, I would have taken action against this agency.NB: my "child" now has a Masters in Business Law, travels the world, owns a home, and enjoys skiing and golfing. Happily married. We figured it out mostly without help.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Incompetent & Unprofessional Caseworkers. My wife and I had 3 different caseworkers over our house since last summer. We were looking to become foster parents. It took us about a year to complete the redundant mountains of paperwork and we were about 50% done with the 10 3 hour classes only to be told the case manager doesn't feel comfortable with one of our dogs (who rolls around and plays with our nieces and nephews whenever they are over). Apparently our dog was a red flag for over 6 months but they decided not to inform us until 6 months later. The dog could have completed additional training in those 6 months. And the way it was said to us was incredibly rude and careless since my wife and I have tried to have children unsuccessfully for over 8 years. I regret working with Hope for Youth and urge you to look elsewhere if you are considering foster or adopting a child.

We are sorry to hear that your experience with Hope For Youth did not meet your expectations. We genuinely appreciate all input, as it helps us to improve our services. Our goal is to support and guide families through the foster parent certification process, which includes a welcoming and informative environment. If there were aspects of the process that were unclear, we welcome the opportunity to address those concerns directly. Your desire to become foster parents is commendable, and we hope you are successful in fulfilling this important endeavor.

I was here many years ago. Nothing has changed based on the recent reviews... Horrible place to put any child. It is a very depressing and unsupportive environment. The staff are not trained to care for troubeld youth. They hire people from off the street instead of qualified people who actually have experience and love for the job. Too many hoodlums working them. The upper management is equally corrupt and terrible. All they do is medicate everyone, that is their go-to for everything. I hope they shut this place down. Smh...

This place is very incompetent and they make fun of the kids and harass the kids they act nice around you but they are mean to the kids. I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone instead you should try LIAFS in Center Reach they are very nice there and treat their kids well, they are respectful and caring to the kids.
