About Henderson Behavioral Health

Henderson Behavioral Health - South Broward is one of the oldest, largest, and most successful centers for folks who have mental and behavioral health disorders. Their South Broward clinic, which used to be called South Branch, is in Hollywood, Florida. They specialize in outpatient and rehabilitation for adults.

Their outpatient program consists of individual and group counseling, managing your meds, and building up your life skills so you can live independently. There’s career coaching as well, so you can find steady work. If you prefer more holistic approaches, there’s gardening and nutritional programs to help you get back into shape.

For veterans and seniors, there are specific tracks that can address stress and PTSD. For vets, you can get assistance before and after deployment to help you and your family adjust to life changes. Older folks can get help for aging, including tips to help you remain mentally fit and physically active.

If your condition becomes more acute, or if you’d like assistance for your kids, Henderson has other facilities that can help. They have centers for residential care and for youths, although not necessarily in Hollywood.

Doctor Shalom was rude; didn t feel like she was listening to me; I ve been going through scary things the same week with my family and was trying to explain that to her, but it seemed like she was just trying to give me meds, I shown her a few face book posts that frightened me and while looking she seen other posts that mentioned black women( def not written by me) I m not sure if she took offense to that but she proceeded to prescribe me of which I didn t agree to. The whole interview she seemed to have an attitude, a bit hostile, rushy, like I was just a number. My original doctor who is Tatiana is much better; I couldn t schedule with her because of time.

I gave 1 star because there is no option for 0-zero!First of all, the staff is rude and dismissive; I go there to seek help for MY OWN mental health and I don't have to stand for that.Second, the website touts about supportive housing and supported employment and all the staff says is that's not offered.Well, if those services are not offered, why the hell are they advertised on the website?Third, who hires the front desk staff anyway; they shouldn't be there if they don't like their work. They need to find other jobs if they can't properly treat the people who walk in the door seeking help!Thank you.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from mental ilness also suffer from substance abuse illnesses. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person’s addiction in addition to mental health treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

My dr. Retired with little to no notice to his patients. I have a new dr....... All I'm going to say is if I can get my psycho a$$ out of bed to go receive help, then the staff working with me should too. My dr. Sits in the comfort of her home while on VIDEO chat with me in HER OFFICE. I think that is very unprofessional to the people that are actively seeking help.

It feels like this location has been in a freefall for the last few months prior to Dr. Pean's retirement. Scheduling is a nightmare with appointments being set without informing the patient, appointments being set with the wrong personnel, etc. So aggravating to receive an automated app't reminder call for an app't you didn't know about! There must be a better place to receive behavioral healthcare in Broward, it's hard to imagine a more disorganized operation. If you have to go, do not set an early morning app't, since most of the staff will be eating breakfast at their desks until around 10am, similar situation around lunchtime.

It's just more depressing to go to this place. All I can say is find somewhere else if you want to improve your mental health.

I'm a medical professional. I call several occasions to solve a patient (relative)situation. First of all, the system do not allow you to select a language, (not Spanish or any other) not a problem for some, but for several patients that is a big issue. The call is the received by a "call center", with very rude personnel, that ask a lot of questions, then they transfer you to front desk, who ask again another set of questions including the ones that you already answer to the "call center", after that front desk transfer you to (I'm not sure) a Nurse (Amber), who apparently is very busy and is not answering the call, so you have to left a message that is never returned. The personnel in general is not helpful. Is very frustrating, and unprofessional. Stay away of this place.
