I want to thank the nursing staff and doctors at KCH. From the security guards to the surgeon, everyone was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Yes the wait was long but I would expect that from a busy ED serving such a large area. Once brought to a bed in back the nurse was so kind, tests performed timely, and results presented by the physician. I would have never thought I would need an emergency surgery while on vacation so thank you for making a stressful and scary experience better. I initially felt apprehensive about attending rehabilitation for the first time; however, my experience at Ohana was exceptional. According to feedback from others, it surpasses many other detoxification and rehabilitation facilities. I underwent both detoxification and rehabilitation, and I found the staff to be outstanding intelligent and compassionate individuals, many of whom are in recovery themselves. While the program involves a significant amount of indoor time, there are opportunities for walks and outings, and residents have the freedom to move about the facility. Although there is some pressure to remain during the detox phase, individuals are free to leave at their discretion. If you require referrals or assistance in creating a post-treatment plan, the staff can organize this within one to two days. I highly recommend the Ohana treatment center.

When the school is open, the general public can use the pool, showers, library, etc.On the morning of May 4th, after swimming at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, I was planning to take a shower attached to the beach, but due to concerns about a tsunami due to a large earthquake on the east side of the volcano, all An order was issued to leave the beach. I had stayed in Phalaa the day before and was researching the town, so I immediately remembered this place and decided to return.The pool is small but clean. The shower has plenty of hot water and is comfortable. Phahala town is located in a high place, so it was really helpful in terms of evacuation.
