Beyond the pristine beaches and tropical climate of Hawaii lies one of the highest rates of illicit substance use among younger populations in the nation. As a small state comprised of several islands in the Pacific, Hawaii faces some atypical issues with respect to alcohol abuse, drug addiction, and mental health. It was the first state in the U.S. to experience widespread use of methamphetamines, which remains a major problem today. Mental health access is also an issue in Hawaii, as most treatment facilities are located on the main island of Oahu.

While I was visiting, I had pain in my knees, hips, chest, and a swollen ankle. The staff in the ER (September 5,2024)throughly checked me , treated me and I feel so much better.Thank YouCW
I was there today, 09/09. From the time I was admitted until I was released, everybody was great! Thank you to Dr Tasaki, and the staff on the 1st floor. Great crew.
Because of the lower rating on here I was nervous to have surgery at this hospital. I can honestly say from checking in to being wheeled out to our car by a nurse I had 5 star service and kindness. Every nurse and doctor were so thoughtful, kept me warm, informed and checked on me frequently. So knowledgeable and made me feel really prepared for going home and what to expect with recovery. They called me the very next day to see how I was and ask about recovery and if I had any feedback. Really wonderful experience and thought I should share. Ridiculous photo of my husband and I before surgery. He said everyone was so nice keeping him informed and helping him find where to go.Thank you!

This morning. My wife and I both had an appointment to see Dr. Timothy Kim who is our primary care provider for at least six years..We re thankful that all of our updated test results were better than expected. I am very grateful and thankful for Dr. Kim and his staff for taking care of us for the last six years. After our medical check ups with Dr. Kim was completed, we were able to go to a hula class for about an hour. We met with Kumu Hula Dennis Imamura and his Kumu Hula in-training, who is also a diabetes educator for Kaiser. As a former hula dancer, it was an Experience for me to dance hula with my wife, who was next to me during the whole class.During the class, Dr Timothy Kim came by the class and greeted both our hula instructors. At the end, my wife and I exchanged information with Dennis Imamura. We both look for to learning Hula with Kumu Dennis Imamura.Mahalo so much for the opportunity to learn hula at Kaiser Permanente!Mahalo,Herman and Gina Kepani
