Unkind, uncaring, and disrespectful are some words to describe the doctor, nurses, and techs working at this facility. The lack of communication and consistency in care is astounding. I was transferred to Haven Behavioral against my will, with a protective order from a doctor who I had never met or spoken to. While inpatient I witnessed abuse, neglect, and was lied to. Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Haven’s Co-occurring Program is for those individuals suffering from both a substance use disorder and a mental health illness at the same time. Their Program’s evidenced-based approach of medical intervention and therapy has proven to be very effective in treating co-occurring disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I litterally can't. I was involuntarily( for a VERY valid reason) admitted into Haven. I said " I'm having suicidal thoughts can y'all up my medicine".Nope they did not but upped unnecessary medications.they also put me on 1-1...and then A girl much older then me was talking to me with a DISRESPECTFUL attitude and when I told the nurses she need to stop before I tell her myself( no violence was said to happen" they put me on unit restriction and I couldnt use forks....When I was on 1-1 the nurses gave me shots for defending myself because a LITERAL TECH was facing right towards me in the restroom. I had been told if I asked the tech to look the other way they would. She looked at me scoffed and slammed herself between the door and wall and turned the other way . Me being me I had shoved out of the way and closed the door I used the restroom and then sat on the floor SCRATCHING, my arm gentally not self harming, so we got into a physical fight because she slammed me against the wall and smashed my face with her clippboard to restrain me . we had an altercation again . I WAS 12 IN THE BRAZOS UNIT DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT 4 SHOTS IN 1 DAY BECAUSE YOU WANT TO HAVE THE LITTLEST PRIVACY.I am much better because I was never put back there very tramatizing

My niece is currently in the facility involuntarily and she works for the state of Texas. I m scared for her life. During our calls I can hear staff members being rude to her, laughing, and giving invalid information. She s been giving medication that she s never been on against her request. My entire family has been calling the facility with several staff members advising us that we ll be included in meetings and medical plans. Every meeting we ve received a time on has been missed. The patient advocates that we ve been directed to have only been stalling. The entire staff are not equipped and trained to run such a facility. My sisters and niece witnessed a violent patient attack her mother and the staff left my family with that patient putting their lives in danger. I would encourage anyone with loved ones that have been at this facility at any point to seek an attorney and pursue all legal actions against the entire facility! The patient advocate is NOT advocating for the patients. I ve been recording and keep documentation since Tuesday. Keep reporting this facility it s scary to know that they ll put anything in your file and give medication to sedate. My nieces file says she does not have a support system yet her mother and sister have been present the entire time, her aunt flew in and has been present, her oldest sister flew in! Her support system has no limit. My niece was simply stressed with the anniversary of her grandmother passing which is completely normal and this facility has noted that she has schizophrenia. How would a supervisor for the Department of Texas be allowed to hold a position for almost a decade with no disciplinary actions or documentation of a serious mental health condition. I ve never been so scared for an individuals well being than I am today. Anyone in this facility is not safe. Violent patients are being mixed with no violent patients. 72 hour holds go immediately to a 7 day medical hold. These things are occurring for financial gain. This facility is draining insurance companies and families. Destroying lives that they re suppose to be helping. PTSD would be the least of your worries attending this facility

I'm displeased because this facility failed to consult with and get the consent of my sons legal guardian, even after several calls and visits and lawyer letters, the doctor failed to consult with me about my son, his treatment, or plan. You would think when my sons life and mental health is at such risk, they would properly address this. Not only did they not consult me, the records show "mom consents" to a rx which is impossible because I was never consulted or notified. Big problem!!!

I was put in there at 17 by my high school, and I was a little mad when they put me in impatient because I thought it was over the top just for some small thoughts, but after a week I came out knowing more information about myself, I got diagnosed with depression and anxiety, which I would have never known I had. I got the medication and information I needed to get better. I made friends and learned so much about myself! But I do agree with other reviews that the food did suck, but in the long run, that s not what is important. Now as a college student I have learned to cope with my anxiety and I will be forever grateful to the nurses and doctors that helped me.

never go here. EVER.a nurse shoved a pill down my throat when i was anxious about how big it was. i saw a girl have a seizure because they wouldn t give them her meds for them. i told them i have a heart condition which makes me pass out and when i came up to one of the nurses, i said i m going to pass out and she sighed. two minutes later i passed out and had a seizure. i was targeted by one nurse the whole time. the only good thing about this place is the techs. they do NOT care about your mental health at all. they wouldn t give me my meds i was prescribed outside of here and let me withdrawl. TERRIBLE PLACE. NEVER GO HERE.
