I recently moved my mom from a facility in upstate New york to Maplewood . The facility to be close to our family . MaplewoodIs under new management. They hired a new director of nursing named Melanie who is wonderful. Lisa of admissions went above and beyond to help me to get my mom down here. The reception and activities folks are all friendly and helpful. The medical staff is kind and efficient. They do take good care of my mom! I work in healthcare with seniors with dementia, so I know this place is decent. My mom enjoys playing bingo and she really likes the staff. Yes , she doesn't want to be in a nursing home but with her health issues, she needs to be there. She has a nice , clean room that is spacious. My advice is visit your loved one often and keep an eye out , and always advocate for them.

I moved my mom from a nursing facility out of state to Maplewood 3 weeks ago. I am pleased with the care she has been receiving so far . I visit every single day and I observe quite a bit.The staff is friendly and kind. They take good care of my mom.I am understandably picky as I work in a local senior living community as a caregiver and activities assistant for residents with Alzheimer's and dementia.I had Originally looked into a few other facilities in the area, but it seemed that no one was able or willing to help me place my mom due to the fact that she was from out of state and had out of state insurance .I was at my wit's end until I took a chance and called.Something told me to look into Maplewood. Yes, admittedly I definitely had reservations about placing my mom here because of some of the unfavorable reviews. However, The facility is under new management and all of my interaction has been positive !Lisa who works in admissions was truly wonderful about helping me with the transition from NY to MA. She went above and beyond to help me !Sue who handles the Business end is kind and helpful.Melanie, The director of nursing is amazing andtruly cares about the patients! Wendy , Josh and Melissa in activities are friendly and great with my mom. She loves playing bingo and they have it three times a week! The physical and occupational therapy department is excellent as well and my mom is making good progress! I also want to mention , all the hardworking folks who work on the floors taking care of everybody night and day . I appreciate the people who are kind to my mom and are taking care of her needs.Aside from the fact that the elevator is slow and needs some maintenance , And the facility is a bit to warm, but over all it's a good place so far. I suggest that people needing nursing care for a loved oneconsider give this place a chance.Yes, it is an older facility , but it is clean , the rooms are large and I feel comfortable with my mom being there. I can sleep at night knowing that she's safe there. My family and I truly are grateful !Thank you everyone , and keep up the good work! Sincerely,Mrs. Debra Sleeper and family.Amesbury, MA

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place is TERRIBLE. There are a few good staff members but that's it. DPH should shut this place down. After my Father in law being there 10 months i wouldn't put my worst enemy in this place. And if you do, do not bring in any personal belongings, you will not get them back they just throw the patients things away with out giving the family time to get them.

My mother in law lived there for 1.5 years. She passed away at the hospital on a Sunday, Monday morning I called to tell them and to please inform her roomate that she had passed so that she would be prepared when we come by at 12pm to get all her stuff. The woman at the front desk (Sue) took it upon herself to have the housekeeping clean out her room. When we got there the handed us 4 prayer books, a side table and a foot stool!! We asked wheres the rest of her stuff? They couldnt come up with where it went. This included her pocketbook, a room refrigerator, family pictures and all her personal belongings. The housekeeping manager who claimed not to speak English went back into a room and came out with a empty pocketbook and then another time with a pair of sneakers. We went out to the dumpster and it had been emptied. They have no regard or compassion for anyone. I dont recomend this place to anyone!!

After being denied service at several NH Nursing homes as well two NH County Nursing Homes and with my wife being financially forced out of Exeter Hospital by Administration, Maplewood stood out, stepped up and went above and beyond all with kindness and courtesy. As usual our request to Senator Hassan for help and support was a complete waste of time.

My father's pain prescription was canceled by one of the staff members which left him unmedicated, while in severe pain, for 12 hours, at which point, I demanded that he be sent to the hospital by ambulance. When visiting earlier in the day, I couldn't find a doctor or nurse to speak with while actively looking and inquiring for an hour.

Never put your family members in this place , my grandmother was here and they didn't give her , her fluid medication and she built up with fluid and passed away. ALL because of a mistake that could've easily been avoided. Not a good place.
