About Harbor

Harbor Behavioral Health - Woodley Road can help you with issues relating to drug abuse. The center is based in Toledo, Ohio. This outpatient center has a range of day programs, intensive outpatient programs, and medication management programs for adults.

Detox and medication management often go hand in hand. Here, you’ll detox by receiving prescriptions to reduce cravings and withdrawal pains. You’ll also start counseling to help strengthen your recovery. Detox is outpatient only, though, which means you’ll only be supervised at the facility. Medications may be available throughout your entire treatment program.

Most clients take part in the intensive outpatient program. You’ll be able to return home in the evening and come back at regular therapy sessions, usually three to four days each week. The time spent in this program depends on your needs. The focal point is on improving coping skills, peer support, and recovery.

There are some specialties at Harbor Behavioral Health, including Telehealth if you’re not able to be there in person. There is also a summer program for at risk youth.

Some past clients weren’t satisfied with the delays and lack of communication. If you have prescription refills, you might need to plan accordingly.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Clients who have just completed detox or who are at an increased risk of relapse, such as those experiencing a life crisis, typically enroll in an inpatient rehab. There, they receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive individual, group, and family therapy. Clients may also participate in life skills training to support their long-term sobriety. Integrative rehab centers offer a variety of evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation or equine therapy.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Uses The Matrix Model for relapse prevention skills group therapy, providing up to 20 weeks of 2-hour, weekly group therapy sessions, providing the client with practical education about how to strengthen and maintain sobriety, and continue to build sober social connections which support a totally abstinent lifestyle. Group therapy is supported by weekly individual case management. This group is appropriate for a client who has already established at least several months of abstinent sobriety, and has already received and embraced education about addiction and has begun to establish a personal program of recovery.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Uses The Matrix Model for early recovery skills group therapy, providing up to 18 3-hour, 3x/week group therapy sessions educating the client on recognizing the symptoms and triggers for addiction, establishing a solid program of recovery, avoiding triggers, and integrating socially with others in recovery, to establish a totally abstinent lifestyle. Group therapy is supported by weekly individual case management.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During initial recovery, withdrawal from alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines can involve high health risk. Attempting detox outside of 24-hour clinical care in Ohio is not recommended. This can be life-threatening because medical staff are not available to treat severe symptoms of withdrawal that often occur. Such symptoms can include seizures, delirium tremens, and extreme dehydration. In a clinical setting, staff are on-site to immediately care for your physical, emotional, and mental health needs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a short-term treatment typically provided in 12 to 18 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, depending on treatment needs. The intervention is typically provided in our office, but it has been used in community and in-home settings.

AOD treatment starts with an assessment to determine the person’s individual treatment needs. Services are provided based on the person’s treatment needs and according to the individual treatment plan created together by the client and staff. Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment.

Ive been a patient for many years.had some experiences . And some bad ones. This one hurts a little too much. I've been on the waiting list for asd. They called me at 611pm on a Tuesday night, they close at 7. Left me a v.m. saying they had an opening, call back to schedule an appointment. Just gotten off work, and out of the shower just before 7 when i saw a missed call.figured they wouldn't answer, called at 12 pm the next day. It was my lunch break, I can't bring my phone in the building. Left a message. they Ghosted me for 10 days.i called several times and left several messages over this time span. Called the office on day 10, and started asking questions. Now I get a return call from the scheduling department. She said" I just talked to my supervisor, because I guess you've been trying to get in touch with me. We don't have any openings at this time. We had openings then, we do not have openings now."I was shocked and trying to process what she just said," I don't understand, you called me?!".And she responded with " we had openings then, we do not have openings now. But, you're still on the list!". I hung the phone and have been trying really, really hard to understand, but I don't. I don't understand how I went from the front of the line to the back of the line with no explanation. Based on the phone call, I honestly feel like they were blaming me. Since then, I have called the office several times and left messages with people I was told were supervisors and their quality department. And have received no response. I don't know what message they are trying to deliver, but the message received has just added a new layer of shame, frustrating and anxiety. What am I supposed to do if and/or when they call back to schedule an appointment and I'm on the clock? I can't take my phone with me. What if I'm in the shower? Am I going back to the end of the line each time? But, I'm still on the list.Update, the quality department called while I was at work, I returned their phone call at the number she left on my vm, and her mailbox isn't set up. Seems to be a thing. Update update; Alina, is in the quality department. Touched based with me, we had a good productive conversation. She was very attentive and genuinely seemed concerned. She asked for my input and we devised a battle plan.i can't in good conscious give a 5 star rating, but there are good people here looking to help.Overall resolution is not good. Alina from customer service reached out today. When last I spoke with her, she said she would work some magic to get my appointment scheduled. She informed me today, that there was really nothing she could do. Testing is on a first come first service basis. They call 10 people, whoever responds first gets the spot. This was not communicated to me previously. I'm really upset by all this.

New to the area. During my assessment the girl was so caught up on asking me about drug, narcotic, alcohol former and current use. She was convinced on on drugs, I felt during to appearances and tattoos. I informed her multiple times. 1. I'm in heart failure I can't do drugs, 2. Diabetic, no good, 3 POTS they will make me pass out even alcohol (which she was also convinced I was consuming. 4. I am New to town and no way to procure such things. 5 I am terminally ill and they would kill me. 6 I am broke and can't afford such things. It was the most uncomfortable assessment I'd ever had. I did not feel heard, respected or listened to. Very much judged! But nit too concerned about my brother and father committing suicide me having the thoughts and tendencies, and being here completely alone with ZERO support. No family whatsoever! I am tired of asking for help in the Midwest!!!

My son and I are both patients here. I have been treated well here. But not my son. My son has autism and schizophrenia. He ran out of his antipsychotic and one mood stabilizer. In advance I asked on the nurses line to call me . I called numerous times and was never called back. I finally spoke with a receptionist, told her our dilemma and she rudely told me he had to talk with her because our patient forms needed updating. So I handed the phone to him where she asked him a few questions that he couldn't answer. She then told him he couldn't get anymore refills until his Dr appointment on June 26. So he goes two months without his medication and risks going through withdrawal ? This could be malpractice, I will see when I see my attorney on Monday.

I mean, wow. I had no idea what a nightmare this could be. I ve had 2 appointments cancelled over two months and the ones I have rescheduled and attended have been lackluster at best. These psychiatrists have such a heavy case load that they don t even read their notes while they re talking to you. I am appalled at the service, scheduling and the person who attempted to manage my medication, Araceli. A complete joke. If you are looking for a good Therapist along with medication management, do not go to harbor. Even with state insurance, you can do better.
