About Harbor

Harbor Behavioral Health- Perrysburg is a behavioral healthcare program that provides substance use disorder treatment for men and women who are suffering from mental health, addiction, and trauma. Harbor Behavioral Health- Perrysburg offers outpatient treatment services.

The outpatient program at Harbor Behavioral Health- Perrysburg is for men and women who are able to achieve positive results while receiving treatment off-site. The services included are psychiatric care, dual diagnosis care, addiction treatment, medication management, counseling, trauma care, and case management. Telehealth can be utilized for those unable to come in person.

Dual Diagnosis, often referred to as having co-occurring disorders, is when two or more mental health concerns present themselves simultaneously. It is very common for those who struggle with addiction to also have an underlying mental health concern such as anxiety, depression, or a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. Without proper treatment of the mental health issue at hand, getting and staying sober can be difficult. By treating both the substance use disorder and the mental health needs concurrently, a greater chance for long-term sobriety is achieved.

I really liked the dr I saw there. She was the first that Really made sense and made me feel like she was really going to help me get meds straightened out and on the best ones for me. Even a more holistic approach Which I Really Wanted!!!But the office staff is incompetent. I made an appointment IN OFFICE, FACE TO FACE, after my med appt for therapy. And let me tell you how badly I needed it....Showed up on time for my appt and I'm not scheduled. Not until Oct 1 for my med appt.I also called last week about my meds, a possible interaction... and I needed to be sure it was OK to take the 2 things together as it warned not to. I never got a cash back so I stopped in and they couldn't help me because everyone left. I get it. Friday. But it's mental health. This is 5 days later and no call back.Yes. I had attitude. I cancelled Oct 1 appt because they obviously don't want to help me.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Uses The Matrix Model for relapse prevention skills group therapy, providing up to 20 weeks of 2-hour, weekly group therapy sessions, providing the client with practical education about how to strengthen and maintain sobriety, and continue to build sober social connections which support a totally abstinent lifestyle. Group therapy is supported by weekly individual case management. This group is appropriate for a client who has already established at least several months of abstinent sobriety, and has already received and embraced education about addiction and has begun to establish a personal program of recovery.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Uses The Matrix Model for early recovery skills group therapy, providing up to 18 3-hour, 3x/week group therapy sessions educating the client on recognizing the symptoms and triggers for addiction, establishing a solid program of recovery, avoiding triggers, and integrating socially with others in recovery, to establish a totally abstinent lifestyle. Group therapy is supported by weekly individual case management.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Uses The Matrix Model and other Motivational Interviewing materials and techniques to help clients who are in the "contemplation" or very early "preparation" stage of change, as they contemplate the costs of developing and achieving a start at a totally abstinent lifestyle. This groups meets twice weekly for 1 1/2 hour sessions, and is targeted at the client who may not have necessarily achieved, or even attempted, sobriety at the time of engagement, but is willing to work with a case manager and group facilitator to address barriers in his/her life that have motivated AOD use and discouraged attempting sobriety. NIOP Early Intervention has no time limit, and can continue as long as the client is willing to engage.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a short-term treatment typically provided in 12 to 18 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, depending on treatment needs. The intervention is typically provided in our office, but it has been used in community and in-home settings.

AOD treatment starts with an assessment to determine the person’s individual treatment needs. Services are provided based on the person’s treatment needs and according to the individual treatment plan created together by the client and staff. Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. The YES Program includes both job placement and retention activities. Job development activities include: job readiness and job-seeking skills classes, job development and job placement. Retention activities include not only follow-along to intervene as needed with the employer and youth, but also life skills classes (eg, parenting skills, anger management, pregnancy prevention, and budgeting) and case management services to address non-work needs of participants such as transportation, child care, and other supports.

The people are amazing: however, the office has a truly insane bizarre rule where faxes are not accepted, requests from other offices are are refused, and any communication regarding any work medical document authorization must be done in office with physically handing documents to the front desk. Despite my love for the staff and my doctor, this has derailed my life multiple times. Recommendation: if you live really close, this office is fine. If this office is a bit of a drive, then the drive will add up if you have other physicians or work who want to coordinate with the office.

One star is the minimum you can give, more like negative stars would be more appropriate, weeks upon weeks to get in,some of the staff super rude, seen for meds and referral, several day later still nothing and one med proscribed half dose of what I was on befor. Tell them your on edge of crisis and try to prevent they call to schedule return for 2 months later are you kidding me. So said people trying to get help and be dragged out 4 month with basically nothing seek help else where no one listen to anything you say!!!

My child was put on a medication and it s taking days to get a response from their nurses. The medication is on backorder, but I made sure to find a place that could fill it. He s now going days without. This is not acceptable when the medication can have side effects.

Most of staff is amazing but getting in contact with them is nearly impossible as their systems seem broken half the time and waiting for a phonecall getting returned is atrocious. Especially for a mental health behavioral clinic not to have a working voicemail system. Wouldnt recommended unless ur very patient but then again I cant find a different place with such professional staff (most of the time) so its up to you. I just hope they improve the way patients can communicate to their psychiatrists and such.(Adjusted to a 1 star due to me having to fix my own med problems and having to go back and forth between harbor and them not being able to answer my calls fast enough to calling CVS and them telling me that its not their fault. This isnt the first time this has happened. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks to get my meds fixed)

Will not return phone calls to patients regarding a medicine change no matter how many times we ve called and asked. It s been weeks of silence. I would not recommend this place if you have a choice.
