About Hamilton Center, Inc.

Hamilton Center has a dozen behavioral health clinics in central and west central Indiana. They offer services for adults, children, adolescents, and families. Their Bloomfield, Indiana location offers outpatient substance abuse treatment including medication-assisted treatment and transitional housing. They also offer gambling services.

Their substance use programs are offered based on priority of need. Pregnant women and those using IV drugs will get priority.

Hamilton Center provides individual and group therapy as part of their substance use treatment. They use proven techniques including MAT to support those with opioid addiction. Hamilton Center offers Vivitrol, Suboxone and Methadone.

I like that Hamilton Center offers peer services. Certified recovery specialists are people who are in recovery themselves. They are trained on how to offer support and their own personal stories to give you hope and perspective.

Hamilton Center is a certified Matrix Model treatment center. It’s the first to be certified in the state. This 16-week outpatient approach to substance abuse involves relapse prevention groups, family involvement, education and more.

As part of your treatment, you’ll also get case management. This means you’ll learn how to improve your relationships, coping mechanisms, communication and more. Your case manager will help link you to community benefits, educational opportunities, primary healthcare, court services and other services you might need.

Hamilton Center accepts coverage by private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare. Some residents might be eligible for discount fees. If you need a payment plan, Hamilton Center staff can make you one.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Hamilton Center operates a 24-hour adult psychiatric inpatient unit which is licensed by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction. Their 16-bed unit provides short-term stabilization and treatment for behavioral and addiction disorders. Inpatient treatment usually begins with a holistic assessment of the individual’s physical health, emotional health, family life, social interaction, and employment history. Treatment goals are individualized and developed by the client and the treatment team. Services take place in a supportive environment which promotes understanding of the illness, improves self-esteem and communication skills, and helps the client’s support system understand the illness and assist in care. The objective during a client’s stay is to achieve stabilization so that he/she can return to a less restrictive environment as soon as possible with follow-up outpatient care.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

The Matrix Model, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), is a multi-element package that consists of relapse prevention groups, education groups, social-support groups, individual counseling, substance screening, and includes education for family members. A therapist is provided to function simultaneously as a teacher and a coach. The therapist is trained to conduct treatment sessions in a way that promotes the patient’s self-esteem, dignity, and self-worth.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program have completed inpatient care and may also be preparing to exit formal outpatient care. Outpatient services are typically categorized as rehab aftercare, but these services often continue beyond the cessation of formal treatment. Rehab aftercare services are designed to promote life-long recovery through comprehensive, wraparound care, which may include medical, mental health, and social services. These programs are usually created in collaboration with the client's case manager and care team.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

lgbtq iconLGBTQ program

At first glance, therapy for someone who identifies as LGBTQ is the same as for someone who does not. They are all susceptible to anxieties, stressors, depression, family tension, and other emotional and mental health concerns that are sometimes a part of simply being human. However, many members of the LGBTQ community experience an additional layer of challenges related to their gender and sexual orientation. Hamilton Center offers special programs for the LGBT community. Services include: individual therapy and therapy groups (LGBT Group and Gender Diversity Group).

military-hat iconMilitary program

Hamilton Center’s MVP program appreciates the dedication and sacrifice required of the current military and their veteran families. The spouses and children of their warriors make up the backbone of their military and ensure that their service members can concentrate on their mission. Once the mission is completed and the veteran returns home, it is the family who helps put the pieces back together. Military and veteran family members face specific and very unique challenges and their mental health needs often take a back seat to their other responsibilities.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing aims to stimulate the client's personal motivation and commitment to change. Rather than receive advice and warnings from the therapist, the client is given the opportunity to share their concerns and reach their own conclusions.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills include cognitive skills, interpersonal skills, and personal skills that help you manage daily living. Cultivating these skills during rehab in Indiana is an important part of recovery. With these skills, you'll be able to navigate challenges and prevent relapse.

7-10 therapy sessions with a young lady who smokes cigarettes out front (parking lot entranceway ), then greets ?Have now been told I will be seeing a Nurse Practitioner for meds.AGAIN this HAS NOT , NOTmaterialized. No, of course when you re told at the end of your counseling session that you will be having upcoming appointments for the nurse practitioner for meds and go to your following appointment and again, it s not for the nurse practitioner makes one tend to believe that it s probably not going to happen?

I find the Linton center way more appealing than the Bloomfield center. To start, I have one appointment every 5 weeks. I have made multiple calls to the front office (well within the open times) and got no call back. I have requested a transfer and I'm waiting 3 weeks ongoing. They do not take their job seriously and they look at people as money. (Edit) It has been 8, almost 9 weeks since my last session. I have called, once again, to the office, and got absolutely nothing back. They never pick up, they never recall you, they never worry or care. Its been 8 weeks, things are not the best and I kind of want to change offices to someone who really cares.

My daughter has been seen there once in the last 4 months because everytime they get close to the appointment date they call and reschedule out for another month or 2. So if you need medication that your child actually needs for mental health this is not the place for them to be seen. Unless you can wait months at a time for both the nurse practitioner or a counselor.

I just read a review stating that this place was a joke, but it's beyond the opposite of one. Kind, friendly, caring, compassionate, life saving people right as soon as you walk into the building ...... unless of course u run into staff in the parkinglot..

Biggest Joke Around. They are therapists that push people who need therapy to the point. Walked in, scheduled 2 appts. that they cancelled. Decided to make another appt. they closed file so have to walk in again before appt. can be scheduled. BRAVO!
