It was very difficult when I was there but if I wasn't so young I should of let my cousin leave and I would of had a good life, My cousin was there first and he convenced me to leave with him and he was there for 2 and a half years, I miss him very much, I always called him uncle Peter because he was 13 years older than me, he got married and still abused his body and basically died at a young age from I believe an overdose of methidone and god only knows what else was in his system, so what I really wanted to say was if I only new that my whole big family was going to die I would of stayed there

Just got a full scholarship here. Flying out in several days to begin the journey. I actually started writing about a long term rehabilitation program that I wanted to create myself after coming to the conclusion that 30, 60, & 90 day programs do not work. I kept experiencing relapses my whole life, even after squeezing out decent periods of stability and sobriety. I wrote a mini thesis/treatise on the 95%+ failure rate of short term treatment. Habilitat seems to agree with all my key principles. Here I am again, submerged and stuck in the same addiction web I always seem to fall into. I found Habilitat on the internet while browsing programs that held certain features I expected my own imaginary, picture-perfect program to have. Habilitat was the only one I found with any computer-related work. I wanted computer programming, microsoft application training and foreign language to be in my ideal treatment center but Habilitat does have graphic design. Will be returning at some point in the future to update my review based on my experience there.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
They provide a safe haven from external pressures and offer their residents a fresh start. Habilitat is a long-term residential program built on the Therapeutic Community model. This approach is considered by experts to be one of the most effective methods of treatment for substance abuse and chemical addictions.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Habilitat’s Aftercare program helps with the gradual transition from the post re-entry phase through program graduation, along with structured monitoring and follow-up for the first 6 months after program completion. All residents are graduated with a clinical discharge pending a probationary period. They require all graduates to find stable housing, acquire full-time employment with medical benefits, refrain from using any mind altering substances (alcohol included), and attend after care sessions at Habilitat’s facility.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Hawaii is for individuals suffering from substance use disorders. Treatment addresses the many issues involved with addiction, typically through a combination of medical and psychotherapy treatments.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

An integral component of Habilitat’s residential addiction treatment is our diverse vocational training programs. These programs include: food service, medical assistant, accounting, masonry, vinyl fencing, landscaping, carpentry, facility maintenance, sales and marketing, office administration graphic design, event coordinating, plumbing, home remodeling, and information technology. This component of Habilitat’s curriculum offers residents the opportunity to cultivate and refine the principles that Habilitat emphasizes: self-respect, accountability, concern for others, constructive criticism, self-discipline, lifelong learning, and a strong work ethic.

Habilitat places a special emphasis on nutrition within their resident population. Although it is left up to themselves to enforce self control when it comes to their own diets, if they notice that a negative or unhealthy habit is forming, they can intervene and redirect. Their nutritionist monitors their residents with special diet needs, and communicates and trains their Culinary Department on everything from portions to calorie intake.

A certified teacher instructs the students during class time and assigns various homework assignments to be completed. I have had the opportunity to see residents thrive from this program!Habilitat offers a great model of approach that is unlike any model I have been apart of before. What has stood out to me the most at the facility is the sense of family, self value, self reflection and accountability.Habilitat teaches life skills that impart self confidence, integrity, self esteem and courage to those residents wanting to improve themselves. Not only have I seen residents at the start of their program, I have also had the privilege of seeing residents graduate and thrive in their community.Counsellor - Australia

Habilitat does NOT bill people's insurance. The program offers long term treatment with vocational training on a sliding scale payment system. In fact, they claim that they do not turn people away just because they can't pay. They are a behavioral health program which doesn't accept severely mentally ill people. They are actually not licensed for that population. They have a license through the Hawaii State Health Department Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division. They are a 501c3 non-profit in good standing with the State AG, Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. The serve a population of over 100 at their residential facility on Kaneohe Bay. They have been called the "Gold Standard" in addiction treatment. Their claim is that when all else fails "Habilitat gets results." Since they have been around since the '70's and are well known throughout the country, online and in the judicial system I'd say this program is one of the most effective treatments for addiction. Many claim its hard... after 10 other treatment programs Habilitat saved my daughter's life. Today she is clean, happy, employed and taking care of her children. We will always be grateful to Habilitat and its staff.

Have you ever seen those crazy druggies wondering the streets, talking to themselves and behaving abnormally? And you just know that those people are a lost cause, that there is nothing that can be done for them except getting them professional psychiatric treatment. Well, at 22 years old, I was that crazy person. My brain was clearly damaged by the effects of crystal methamphetamine. Whenever strangers would find me wondering the streets or resting in bushes, I d get sent to the psychiatric wards. I was a frequent flyer who would be discharged shortly after displaying good behavior on all the psych meds being administered, only to fall back into the same cycle of drug use.11 years ago, Habilitat entered the picture and never left my side. I could ve been an unfortunate statistic, a young female locked away in a state mental hospital, as a result of her psychiatric problems. Luckily, the Habilitat staff opened their arms to me and believed that they could help me. I entered into the program, without any prescribed psych meds, and began on my road to recovery. It took an entire year, off of meth, for my brain to function normally and finally recognize what was reality again. During my time in the program, I was given the tools needed to build a better version of myself. I am more resilient to the hardships of life, more aware of how my actions affect those around me and overall, more happy and positive. The Habilitat staff are some of the most compassionate and dedicated people I have ever met. They enforce TOUGH LOVE on all the residents who set foot onto the facility seeking help. And honestly, if I were to have children of my own, I would use a lot of the techniques Habilitat used on us to groom us into successful members of society. There will always be those former residents who will look at what the program is about from their level of perception and from their negative core. Those are the ones that are not candidates of change. Habilitat teaches grown adults to act and operate like adults. And that means taking responsibility for your choices and attitudes in life. I am proud of the person I have become and can credit this program greatly.Since graduating from Habilitat, I enrolled back into college to continue pursuing my nursing degree. While working a fulltime job, I was able to graduate with the academic distinction of Summa Cum Laude and as a member of a national honor society. In addition to that, I received the prestigious Leadership award and Academic Achievement award of my graduating class. I am a valuable employee of the medical field and will continue achieving my goals and making a difference in society.I wouldn't trade my experience for anything in the world, as I have learned valuable lessons from the program.

As an Addiction Counsellor from Australia, I found Habilitat Inc. to be one of the most effective treatment centers I have encountered in my 30 year experience of dealing with addiction.Habilitat s approach to addiction is unique, vastly different to any other treatment center. They are about restoring value, respect and integrity to the people that make the choice for real change.Habilitat treats the maladaptive coping skills learned as survival mechanisms in a world filled with dysfunction. It is a program that builds character, resilience, self-esteem and responsibility. This program is a true Therapeutic community that succeeds where many other treatment centers fail. It is serious about changing lives, restoring self-respect, teaching motivation and giving people the skills they need to live healthy productive lives.
