About Greenbriar Treatment Center

Greenbriar Treatment Center is located in Washington, Pennsylvania. They offer drug and alcohol withdrawal services, substance use inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient addiction treatment, and recovery support services. This includes treatment for underlying mental health issues (dual diagnosis).

The treatment center accepts most major insurances offered in Western Pennsylvania. That includes Highmark BCBS and UPMC. If you’re uninsured, ask them about alternative funding options.

Everyone’s recovery journey is different but the first step for most people is detox which is withdrawing from the addictive substances in your body. Detox is the first step in the inpatient facility where they’ll monitor you for any difficult or dangerous side effects of withdrawal. They’ll give you medication to ease your symptoms if appropriate. Detox can be anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

After detox, you’ll start evidence based treatment to help you recover. You’ll have group and individual therapy. You’ll also have relapse prevention education. You’ll receive treatment for any underlying mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder. Your inpatient treatment may be as short as 28 days or as long as 90. You and your team of specialists will decide what length is best for your situation.

They also have an outpatient treatment center for drug and alcohol use disorders. You’ll get an individualized plan after a comprehensive assessment. You’ll see licensed therapists for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

When you have your initial assessment, the team will help you decide which treatment program will work best for you. Inpatient requires you to live at the center so it’s not always feasible for everyone.

There’s also comprehensive discharge planning from both programs to help you in your journey to recovery. They offer continued medication management as well as family education and relapse prevention.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services bring extensive experience to the planning and conducting of drug interventions in Pennsylvania. These experts can facilitate interventions in a sensitive manner that encourages positive outcomes. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about addiction and the consequences of their substance use and encourage them to get the treatment they need. Interventions can be effective with all types of drugs and alcohol addiction.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Because the severity of withdrawal symptoms can fluctuate, constant monitoring under 24-hour clinical care in Pennsylvania is recommended for early recovery. As you undergo detox, medical staff will supervise your health and ensure severe symptoms do not develop or threaten your life. Professional counselors will also be available to treat mental and emotional health needs.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

This helps to reduce your symptoms of stress and anxiety and improve your overall mental health and well being.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. I won't tell you it was a completely negative experience because I learned some things that I didn't knew but clearly there are a lot of things that need to improve for this to be a place that really helps the patients.

I ve been here 4 times, actually. Only completed twice. The other two I was there for a day maybe. I wasn t ready. However, I was forced, essentially, to go back in 2015. I was So broken. Was coming off of a 5 year heroin habit. Had just gotten hit with my 3rd dui in 10 years( mine were years apart). Pleaded into drug court. Court ordered here then their affiliated halfway house: the Lighthouse . The staff was unbelievable. I ve never had support like that with such kindness and genuine care and compassion. They helped build me up. They gave me the tools I needed for the next steps of my recovery. I couldn t stay clean for 4 hours let alone 4years. Which I ended up achieving after the Lighthouse. This place provides the tools and staff and environment for one to develop the structure, support, discipline and knowledge they need to actually get clean and achieve long-lasting sobriety/recovery. Thank you for saving my life, and all the others you all help If you re struggling, please reach out to them. We are losing too many parents, siblings, and friends. I ve been resuscitated more times than I can count. However, these people have never given up on me, and please don t give up on yourself. It s so dangerous any more. Hopefully I ll see you at some meetings

Horrendous experience. I almost died after begging to get some help for a tooth abscess. Finally took me to the ER and the infection was really bad. After 6 hours in the ER I had to WALK back to this hell hole because no one would answer the phone nor did they leave a cell number in which to be reached. Monica is a clown and that place is anything but therapeutic. Sad how they have no value for human life. Had it been taco Tuesday her enormous selfwould have come and got me. DON'T GO THERE!!

I am horrified how irresponsible this facility is with their patients. A close family friend, who needed help, was brave enough to ask for help and in less than one week they throw them out and the cycle starts over. It is obvious the facility does not care about the physical and mental health of their patients. Please don t send a loved one who is desperate for help to this place. There are really good programs out there, this is not the place you will feel comfortable sending a loved one or yourself to get treatment. Very unprofessional and careless.

Worst place you could choose to detox from, nothing but lies and no real counseling. They are overly slow and even refused my me my rescue inhaler for over 14 hours. Guaranteed me a modified taper on admin, then put me on a 8 day taper .4 in detox, 4 in inpatient rehab. Detox is detox, inpatient rehab is rehab. These people are playing both sides of the stick and with patients health. Detox is detox, rehab is rehab. The Doctor who I asked why I was not being tapered laughed in my face and suggested. Take the meds or don't, IDGAF. Just go back to drinking.Highly don't recommend and the food sucks and is served well below serve safe requirements

This place saved my life and my family. I can't give enough praises to the staff. These people for real care about you and want you to succeed. They made me see I did deserve this and was worth something. They taught me that my addiction speaks to me in my own voice, to not believe everything I think and secrets keep you sick!! Greenbriar was an answer to prayers and will always be grateful for the solid foundation they gave me to start rebuilding my life on.33 days clean because they seen something in me I couldn't at first. Thank you so much Zoe and Becky, if not for you 2 beautiful ladies I don't know if I would have made it that first week.
